We’re not enemies. Should our collective blades not be pointed toward the Scourge, not one another?\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Lor stopped, causing Vale to stop as well. The two stood just out of range of one another. A strange look, one that mirrored realization, reflected in his hollow eyes. Like the man was seeing a long-lost friend.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>’No.’\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>’A long-lost enemy? Friend turned enemy?’\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>It was hard to read the look of an irrational man.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>The man spoke in a slow, deep metallic voice. It held echoes of lost humanity.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\"For you to say that, Ixion... It... It... It is the height of hypocrisy! Unforgivable!\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>’Woah! The man who defied fate, or perhaps succumbed to it, from another perspective. You broke me! You dared shatter me! Lor, buddy... uh... what did I do to you?\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>The man, despite Salome being closer, moved after Vale.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>The man screamed at Vale,\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\"Don’t you dare run, Ixion!\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Vale shouted back,\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\"I’m Valentin. My... soul?’\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Vale let out a feigned chuckle.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\"Lor, my friend, you seem very confused.\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>As the man drew closer, he bellowed:\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\"Your existence fills me with unbridled rage!\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>’Welp.’\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>It didn’t seem like they were going to snap him out of the Ixion delusion at this rate.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Vale spoke to Salome in his own language.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\"I guess I’ll continue my role as a decoy.\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Salome, annoyed, reluctantly agreed:\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\"Just stay safe.\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Vale walked toward Lor, a smile on his face. If he couldn’t confuse him with charm...\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>’I can at least piss him off.’\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\"Lor, you caught me! I’m Ixion. Yup, definitely. Now, let’s settle this.\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>The knight screamed, then ’charged,’ speed-walked, toward Vale.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>’It appears it worked.’\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>The man had already lost his sense and rationality. Now he’d lost his composure.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Salome landed a few clean blows on the man’s armor, adding more dents. The man wasn’t even paying attention to her.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>While that seemed like a good thing...\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>’Her quills are chipping.’\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>From the five hits she’d landed, the mallet was breaking.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Vale dashed to the opposite side of the room, causing Lor’s next strike to whiff.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Salome smacked the back of his elbow as she ran by.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\"How many more?\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\"Twenty if full power!\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>’I love how perceptive she is!’\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Vale slid to a stop, then turned.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\"That’s not enough, is it?\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\"No, it isn’t.\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>’Tch...’\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>That meant they’d need another way to damage this guy, or Vale would have to mount the damage while also drawing attention.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>’I’m crazy, I know that... but not crazy enough to take a Bloomed Prime head-on.’\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Especially when his weapon would be a flesh mallet.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Meaning, they could either use the shield to bash the guy over the head... or something.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>’Or hope we did enough damage to slow him down for Salome to use her quills unimpeded.’\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Neither seemed desirable.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>’Wait...’\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Vale looked down at his naked torso — specifically, at the [Nexus of Beginnings].\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>There were a few odd items and tools in there. Maybe he had a suitable weapon.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Vale waited for Lor to reach him, then dashed as quickly as he could to the far side of the octagon. Then, he used [Unload].\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Everything Vale had in the crystal fell onto the floor: his new bike, helm, whip, various swords and daggers, a dozen [Dawn’s Eye]s, [Reshaper], the cube, glasses, among other items.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Vale looked over the vast assortment.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>’No suitable weapon... damn.’\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>But at least they had a larger arsenal to work with. Plus, the swords were expendable. There were a few in good condition that he’d like to keep, but it would be worth sacrificing them for victory.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Vale picked up [Midnight’s Mountain Bike].\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>’I might as well use it to conserve energy.’\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Instead of hesitating, Vale mounted the bike and began circling Lor. A bike having been his main transportation for most of his life, he was quite a good cyclist.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Along with the bike, Vale picked up the [Wipe of Beginnings] and [Helm of Disregard].\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Vale didn’t waste time hopping on and pedaling to Alpha.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>’Smooth ride!’\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\"Wear this and use the whip to try and trip him.\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>’As long as she holds onto the handle, it’s not a projectile.’\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Vale pedaled away from Alpha and over to Salome, who’d been watching his actions with a thoroughly befuddled expression.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Vale called out to her:\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\"Keep using the swords until they break!\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>They weren’t ideal against heavy armor, but they were better than her claws or damaging her quills, which would be needed for the kill shot.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Lor’s rage seemed to only grow as Vale sped around in a circle.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Vale called out to him:\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\"Lor, my friend! Is there a problem? Fight me, you coward!\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Vale laughed.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Despite this being the most threatening situation in his life, he looked like an absolute fool. He was gleefully riding around on a bike as a Bloomed Prime who could only walk chased him.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>But it was working.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Salome landed blow after blow, forming more dents in the armor.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Still, Lor paid her no mind, focusing only on Vale, thinking him to be Ixion.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\"Lor, my friend. Hurry up! Fight me like a man.\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\"Coward!\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\"Coward?! Me? You’re the one walking, too scared to charge at me.\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Riding in circles, Vale looked down at the bike. He decided to test what [Nitro] did. At a safe distance from Lor, he angled the bike and activated it.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\"Woah! Shit, fuck!\"\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>The moment he fed it Aether, the bike shot forward with blazing speed and slammed into a translucent wall of the octagon.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>’Shit! That was scary! I hope the bike’s okay—’\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Vale’s eyes widened as he stared at the perfectly intact bike.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>’Oh, right. I forgot. [Unbreakable].’\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>A realization struck Vale’s mind — wild and untamed.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Alongside that realization came a brazen, horrendous, amazingly dumb idea; an idea that made a mockery of all the training he’d done thus far — all of the technical and philosophical quandaries he’d undergone to build his power.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>He possessed no blunt weapon, yes...\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>But he did possess blunt items.
