Chapter 115: Crazy Feeding
Jubiao Mother's wings flapped, stirring up a gust of wind that sent Zhang Yi's hair flying in a mess.
"Whew, the Qi in this place is truly choking!"
Zhang Yi squinted, feeling the Qi in the air that had almost condensed into a solid form, and his chest felt stifled.
The Qi within his body was like a wild horse that had broken its bridle, charging about recklessly.
It made his already severe injuries even more acute.
The Pterosaur also nodded in agreement.
"You can say that again! This concentration of Qi is even more exaggerated than the cultivation rooms of those old fogies at the Demon Saint Mansion! I feel like I'm about to be puffed up and burst!"
Zhang Yi shook his head with a bitter smile; this Trial Land was indeed worthy of its reputation.
For low-level Demon Beasts, this level of Qi was not nourishment, but a disaster.
No wonder it was said that only true powerhouses could set foot in this place.
Jubiao Mother also stopped in her tracks, her massive body trembling slightly.
"I... I feel a bit unwell... This Qi... is too strong..."
She flapped her wings uneasily, a trace of fear showing in her eyes.
Zhang Yi's heart sank; if even a Level 3 Great Demon Beast like Jubiao Mother couldn't withstand it, it seemed the outskirts of this Trial Land were not a place they could stay either.
He had to enter deeper as soon as possible to find a place where the Qi was relatively mild to heal his wounds.
Just then, several figures darted out from the dense thicket and blocked their path.
These small Demon Beasts looked bizarre; there were wild boars with wings, lizards covered in flames, and squirrels dragging long tails, all of them baring their fangs and brandishing their claws with fierce looks in their eyes.
"Where did you stupid birds come from, daring to trespass on our territory!"
A wild boar with wings waved its hooves and pointed at Jubiao Mother, clamoring.
"That's right, this isn't a place for rookies like you to come! Get lost!"
A lizard covered in flames flicked its tongue and spat out a burst of fire.
Zhang Yi sneered inwardly; these small Demon Beasts likely treated the outskirts of the Trial Land as their own territory and were used to acting like foxes assuming the tiger's might.
They had no idea that the Qi of the Trial Land gathered inward, and the outskirts didn't benefit from it at all.
Jubiao Mother was already feeling uncomfortable due to the excessive concentration of Qi, and now, being provoked by these small Demon Beasts, her anger flared up instantly.
"You death-defying little things, how dare you be disrespectful to this seat!"
She let out a roar, and with a violent flap of her massive wings, a powerful current of air swept out, flipping the small Demon Beasts onto the ground.
Before they could react, Jubiao Mother struck down with a claw, smashing the winged wild boar and the flaming lizard directly into a pulp of flesh.
The remaining small Demon Beasts were scared out of their wits and fled into the woods in a panic.
Zhang Yi looked at the two piles of flesh on the ground, and his stomach began to growl.
He hadn't eaten since he was injured, and now, smelling the scent of blood, his hunger became even more intense.
Casting aside any sense of etiquette or shame, he rushed forward and began to gnaw on the pile of wild boar pulp.
"Mmm... the taste isn't bad..."
Zhang Yi said indistinctly, devouring the food like a starving ghost reincarnated.
The Pterosaur watched, dumbfounded, "Damn, you kid... you're just too... too savage..."
Zhang Yi raised his head, his mouth covered in blood, and grinned, "Can't help it, I'm starving! If I don't eat something, where will I get the strength to heal?"
Jubiao Mother looked at Zhang Yi's way of eating and shook her head helplessly.
These two guys were truly one more bizarre than the other.
After finishing the wild boar pulp, Zhang Yi turned his gaze toward the lizard pulp.
He licked his lips and was just about to make a move when he was interrupted by Nudi's cold voice.
"Enough."
Nudi looked at Zhang Yi coldly, "Don't forget, we are all hungry too."
Zhang Yi rolled his eyes and sheepishly pulled his hand back.
Finally, Jubiao Mother gathered the remaining Demon Beast meat, "Let's keep it for now, in case of emergency."
Seeing this, Zhang Yi could only sigh.
However, with his stomach full, he felt much better.
"Let's go, we're going in."
Nudi turned around and walked toward the depths of the forest.
Zhang Yi and the others followed closely behind, continuing to penetrate this mysterious Trial Land.
As they went deeper, the surrounding Qi became increasingly dense, and the air grew heavier.
A strange aura permeated the forest, making one's hair stand on end.
Suddenly, a rustling sound came from ahead, as if something was moving through the grass.
"What is that?"
The Pterosaur looked around vigilantly.
"Shh!"
Zhang Yi signaled for him to be quiet and listened carefully to the movement around them.
The sound drew closer, and a massive figure slowly walked out from the thicket.
It was a giant spider, pitch-black all over, with eight eyes flickering with a ghostly green light.
It was enormous, a size larger than Jubiao Mother, and each of its legs was thick and powerful, as if cast from steel.
"Hiss..."
The Pterosaur gasped, "What kind of monster is this?!"
The giant spider slowly walked toward them, and a suffocating sense of oppression permeated the air.
Zhang Yi's heart sank; the aura this spider emitted was more powerful than any Demon Beast he had encountered before.
It seemed they had run into real trouble...
Just then, the giant spider suddenly stopped in its tracks, its eight eyes staring fixedly at Zhang Yi, and it let out a low hiss.
"It... it seems to be... looking at me..."
Zhang Yi felt his back turn cold, a chill shooting straight from the soles of his feet to the top of his head.
The giant spider's abdomen suddenly split open, revealing a massive mouthpart filled with sharp teeth.
"Not good! It's going to attack!"
The Wind God Pterosaur let out a loud cry.
At that critical moment, Nudi suddenly blocked the path in front of Zhang Yi, an ice sword appearing in her hand that radiated a bone-chilling cold.
"Scram!"
Nudi shouted coldly and swung her sword at the giant spider.
A flash of cold light from the ice sword instantly split the giant spider's massive body into several pieces.
Viscous green liquid sprayed out, and a nauseating, fishy stench began to spread.
However, surprisingly, the severed spider limbs did not stop moving.
Instead, they regenerated at a speed visible to the naked eye, with new spider legs surging out frantically like bamboo shoots after a spring rain.
Nudi's dark eyebrows furrowed slightly, and the ice sword in her hand danced faster, the sword light like snow, the cold air biting.
Yet, the faster she hacked, the faster the spider legs grew, as if it were competing with her.
Zhang Yi watched from the side, his eyelids twitching, and he couldn't help but speak up: "I say, my dear lady, can you try hacking somewhere else? This thing clearly can't be killed by hacking this way; why don't you try hacking its head or its body?"
Nudi glanced at him, her gaze icy: "I feel like it, is that any of your business?"
Zhang Yi was instantly rendered speechless, cursing inwardly: This woman is truly unreasonable! Fine, pretend I said nothing.
Nudi continued to brandish the ice sword, as if she had found some amusement, hacking away at the spider legs with tireless delight.
