Chapter 222: Casting that Shook the Entertainment Industry, Chen Daoming Plays the Qing Emperor!

The Qing Emperor role in Joy of Life definitely requires calling Chen Laoshi to step in.

Here it is.

Lin Mo made a phone call to Chen Daoming right there in the office.

It's already half past three in the afternoon, almost four.

I hadn't called earlier because I thought Chen Laoshi seemed to have a habit of taking a nap, so I didn't call him.

He himself really hates it when people call while he's asleep.

The phone rang only a few times before it connected.

"Hello, Director Lin!" Chen Laoshi's voice came through the phone.

"Chen Laoshi, I hope I'm not disturbing your nap~" Lin Mo said with a laugh.

"Hey, it's already almost 4 o'clock, soon it'll be time to say good night!"

Chen Daoming responded cheerfully.

Hearing that,

Lin Mo laughed aloud: "Haha!"

Then Lin Mo changed the subject: "Chen Laoshi, Ruo Yun just came to my company, had an interview, and her acting and image are especially fitting!"

"Right? I told you this kid has potential; we've watched this group grow up from childhood!" Chen Daoming said with a laugh.

After that, the two chatted casually for a few more sentences.

Only then did Lin Mo get to the main point.

"Here's the thing, Chen Laoshi, there's a role in my drama that's perfect for you, so I wonder if you have time~"

Since Lin Mo and Chen Daoming are that familiar, they speak plainly about anything.

As for whether they'd worry about Chen Daoming's schedule conflicting,

That was definitely asked about in advance.

Moreover.

Someone of Chen Daoming's stature.

Whenever he takes a new drama, the circle always finds out.

"Oh? There's also a role that fits me?" Chen Daoming's interest was piqued.

"Indeed, my drama is adapted from a novel, and I heard the original author modeled that character after your image!" Lin Mo said with a smile.

Upon hearing that, Chen Daoming immediately guessed: "I guess it's an emperor-type role, right?"

"Chen Laoshi, you're truly a divine calculator, guessing spot on!" Lin Mo said with a laugh.

"For the past two years I've been selecting scripts, looking for a challenging role. But since Director Lin personally called, I must give you face! Besides, I haven't filmed in a long time, and working with these young actors sounds quite interesting!" Chen Daoming replied cheerfully.

Indeed.

In recent years his works have been rarely seen.

Those who don't know might think he's retired.

In fact, there are many veteran actors like Chen Daoming.

They lack neither money nor fame, only a script that suits them.

Just as Chen Daoming said, Lin Mo called him personally, so the face must be given.

Moreover, dramas from Morning Light are basically blockbusters, and their quality is good.

Just like that.

Chen Laoshi's Qing Emperor role has been finalized.

As for the other roles,

That's simple.

Liu Qin directly informed the partner companies.

For example Xinli, Huayi, Yinghuang, Huace, Jiaxing, etc.

They heard Morning Light has another big drama!

And they also invited Chen Daoming!

No need to say more.

This drama will definitely be a hit!

In itself, dramas produced by Morning Light are blockbusters.

Now with the addition of veteran actor Chen Daoming.

Especially since this drama is an alternate-history piece.

With that,

Major companies began calling their handsome boys and pretty girls to audition for roles at Morning Light Media.

Alternate-history drama!

First, it tests the actors' suitability.

Some actors look great and handsome in modern dramas.

But in costume dramas, they're far from that.

As the person in charge of Joy of Life, Luo Kai is also extremely busy.

His Assistant Director is a junior brother of his.

To film this drama.

Luo Kai also finished reading the Joy of Life novel.

So he's relatively familiar with the characters inside.

At first I heard the Boss say they were planning to get Chen Daoming to play the Qing Emperor.

He even already had that picture in his mind.

Just thinking about it makes him a bit excited.

The investment for this drama is huge.

They've also invited well‑known actors, veteran thespians.

Zhang Ruoyun, Chen Yao, Chen Daoming, Wu Gang, Li Xiaoran, Yuan Quan, Yu Rongguang, Xin Zhilei, Tian Yu ………

That's the cast list.

A solid 2019 opening‑year blockbuster!

It's already mid‑November, just over a month away from 2019.

Over at Jiaxing.

A few actors also took part in Joy of Life.

For example, Wang Xiao.

His acting is quite good.

Very quickly.

The news that Morning Light Media is about to start filming Joy of Life and is holding massive casting in the Entertainment Circle, of course spread online.

It quickly sparked heated discussion among netizens.

"Rumor has it Chen Daoming will also appear in this drama!"

"Ah, really? When I read the novel, the Qing Emperor role was totally a stand‑in for Chen Laoshi!"

"Looking forward to it, looking forward!"

"So there's no Director Lin film in this year's Spring Festival slot!"

"Probably not; I haven't heard any news about Director Lin's new drama starting production!"

"Ah, then what's worth watching in next year's Spring Festival slot?"

"......"

Lin Mo is sitting at home, watching the variety show 'Ace' with Re Ba, and it happens to be the episode Re Ba is participating in.

Re Ba bursts into laughter, occasionally turning to Lin Mo and saying, "Mo Ge, this show is really hilarious!"

Her sense of humor is low to begin with, and she laughed on set several times while recording.

Lin Mo can see that everyone on the show takes good care of Re Ba, gives her plenty of camera time, and the host constantly cues her.

With Jiangzhe TV's little scheme, how could Lin Mo not understand?

"I can tell you're having a lot of fun!" Lin Mo replies with a smile.

As they chat, Re Ba brings up the recently viral online casting news for Joy of Life.

"Mo Ge, I heard Joy of Life has Chen Daoming appearing, is that true?" Re Ba asks with curiosity.

"Yes, he plays the emperor, the Qing Emperor," Lin Mo nods.

"Wow!" Re Ba's eyes light up. Though she hasn't read the Joy of Life novel, she's heard from Lin Mo that the drama's cast is ultra‑luxurious, with several veteran thespians.

"This drama is definitely great!" Re Ba says confidently.

"No need to say more!"
