Chapter 624
After returning home for a few days, Lin Mo and Re Ba's life returned to normal.
Every morning, Nuan Nuan wakes up punctually at 6:30, pats Mom and Dad's faces with her little hands, and wakes them up in her own way.
"This little alarm clock is more accurate than a phone." Lin Mo rubbed his eyes, picked up his daughter, and changed her diaper.
Nuan Nuan giggled, her little hand gripping his hair and not letting go.
Re Ba sat up bleary-eyed: "What do you want to eat today? I'll make breakfast."
"Don't bother," Lin Mo pressed her down, "you sleep a bit longer, I'll handle it."
He's not some big shot; occasionally Lin Mo also cooks.
Although Re Ba never lets him into the kitchen.
But Nuan Nuan wouldn't have it; she climbed onto Mom, planted a slobbery little kiss on Re Ba's cheek: "Ma... ma..."
Xiao Jiahuo finally can call "Mom."
Earlier Re Ba had complained, saying she was mostly the one taking care of the baby, yet the first word her daughter spoke was "Dad" instead of "Mom."
Lin Mo laughed and said, kids basically say "Dad" first because Dad's pronunciation is simpler; the B sound is easier than the M sound.
The morning of the three of them began in this warm, playful fuss.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang.
"I'll get it!" Lin Mo put down the bowl he was feeding Nuan Nuan.
Outside stood Song Wanwan, backpack on, holding two bags of fruit: "Brother!"
"Why didn't you give me a heads-up?" Lin Mo stepped aside to let her in, "Have you eaten?"
Since she started her sophomore year, she's already familiar with Mo Du, and with her studies now busy, she doesn't often come to Lin Mo's place.
He hadn't seen her for almost over a month.
Mainly because he went on a trip to Xiang Jiang, which lasted over twenty days.
"I've eaten, I've eaten," Song Wanwan hastily put down her bag, "Where's Nuan Nuan?"
Re Ba carried Nuan Nuan out from the dining room: "Wanwan's here."
"Sister-in-law~" Song Wanwan's eyes lit up, she immediately leaned over to Nuan Nuan, teasing her with her hand: "Nuan Nuan, do you still remember Auntie?"
Nuan Nuan tilted her head, looked for a moment, then suddenly reached out to grab Wanwan's earring.
"Ouch, little troublemaker," Wanwan quickly covered her ears.
Re Ba laughed and pulled the girl's hand back: "Nuan Nuan, you can't grab Auntie's earring."
Wanwan pulled a plush toy from her bag: "Look, Auntie brought you something."
Nuan Nuan was instantly drawn to it, babbling to grab it; Wanwan handed the toy to her and took the opportunity to plant a kiss on Nuan Nuan's face.
"Brother, you have no idea how exhausting our recent spoken-word drama rehearsals have been!" Wanwan teased Nuan Nuan while complaining to Lin Mo: "I'm both director and lead actress, I'm about to drop from exhaustion."
Lin Mo raised an eyebrow: "Oh? What play are you rehearsing?"
"Of course it's Thunderstorm!" Wanwan said, "I play Fan Yi, and I'm also responsible for coordinating the whole troupe; we rehearse until past midnight, and then there's class at 8 a. m. the next morning..."
Re Ba handed her a cup of juice: "That's so hard?"
"No kidding!" Wanwan took the juice and gulped down half of it, "Last week during rehearsal I fell asleep backstage. When I woke up, I found my makeup still on, false eyelashes still hanging."
Lin Mo couldn't help but laugh: "You're really going all out?"
"Of course!" Wanwan proudly lifted her chin, "Brother, I'm going to be a director, this bit of hardship is nothing." She suddenly thought of something, leaned in to Lin Mo: "By the way, brother, we're performing at school next month—do you want to come watch?"
Wanwan is studying performance.
But after spending some time learning with the Robots troupe, she realized she prefers directing over acting.
So after her sophomore year, she specifically chose directing as a minor.
When Lao Wang previously called Lin Mo, he'd laugh and say the Lin Mo family genes all have directing talent.
He said this girl has far more talent for directing than for acting.
Cough cough...
Actually, Wanwan's original reason for wanting to be a director... was because she saw her older brother being very imposing in the troupe.
Seeing Auntie ignore her, Nuan Nuan dissatisfiedly yelled "ah ah" twice and tugged hard at Wanwan's hair with her little hand.
"Ow!" Wanwan winced, "Little ancestor, be gentle!"
Re Ba quickly scooped the girl away: "Nuan Nuan, be good, Auntie is talking with Dad."
Lin Mo laughed and rubbed Nuan Nuan's little head: "When?"
"Next Friday!" Wanwan's eyes sparkled, "At our school's little theater. If you come, our classmates will definitely go crazy!"
"Sure," Lin Mo nodded, "I'll try to make it work."
Wanwan jumped up excitedly: "Awesome, brother, I love you to death, sister-in-law, you should come too, bring Nuan Nuan along~"
She turned back to tease Nuan Nuan: "Nuan Nuan, do you want to watch Auntie perform?"
Nuan Nuan tilted her head, then suddenly smeared the plush toy onto Wanwan's face.
"Ow!"
The whole family laughed together.
After lunch, Lin Mo had to go to the company.
Before heading out, Nuan Nuan was being teased by Wanwan into giggles, completely unaware that Dad was about to leave.
"Wanwan doesn't come often, you two have a good chat." Lin Mo kissed Re Ba's forehead,
Upon reaching Morning Light Building, Lin Mo had just stepped into the elevator when he heard hurried footsteps and a voice behind him: "Senior brother!"
He turned around to see Tian Xiwei and her agent Wang Xia.
Today Tian Xiwei wore a white dress, her hair in a high ponytail, full of youthful vigor.
"Boss!" Wang Xia immediately greeted respectfully.
Lin Mo nodded at her, then looked at Tian Xiwei: "Why did you come to the office today?"
Tian Xiwei's eyes sparkled: "Liu Jie got me a new drama, and asked me to come sign the contract."
Lin Mo was quite curious: "Oh, who's the director? ~"
Wang Xia quickly added: "Boss, it's Director Zheng Xiaolong's new series; Xiwei plays a workplace newcomer as the second female lead, acting alongside Teacher Sun Li."
Zheng Xiaolong, I guess many people aren't familiar with that name.
But the dramas he directs are far more famous than he is.
Need not say anything else, one series of Empresses in the Palace is enough.
"Not bad," Lin Mo praised, "Director Zheng's productions are guaranteed in quality; it's a good opportunity."
