Chapter 638: Cameron, Steven Spielberg Comes to China!
Mo Du's winter had a hint of damp chill, but red lanterns were already hung on every street and alley, festive 'fu' characters adorned mall entrances, and the holiday atmosphere grew stronger.
Lin Mo wore a dark gray down jacket, black‑frame glasses, and kept a low profile, looking like an ordinary person picking someone up at the airport.
He stood at the airport exit, head down scrolling his phone, occasionally glancing up at the exit.
There was no way around it—during the New Year period, his assistant Xiao Rou had already gone back to her hometown.
Besides, even if his assistant were here, Lin Mo would still have to come in person to meet them.
With this outfit, not only would random fans not recognize him, even his own parents walking by would surely know it was him.
Not long after, two tall foreign men rolled their luggage out—one in a casual jacket and baseball cap, the other wrapped in a dark blue coat, speaking softly as they walked, with only a young assistant‑type figure following them.
Lin Mo's lips curled slightly; he put away his phone and went to meet them.
"James, Steven." He extended his hand, his voice neither loud nor soft.
Cameron looked up, his eyes lighting up; he immediately smiled and shook Lin Mo's hand: "Lin! With that outfit I thought the one picking us up was some secret agent."
Steven Spielberg also smiled and shook his hand, glancing around: "Your Huaguo airport is really lively."
"It's almost New Year, isn't it?" Lin Mo said with a smile. "Let's go; the car is outside."
The three walked out side by side; Cameron took interested note of the airport decorations—huge red paper cut‑outs, lantern‑shaped lights, and even a few staff members in Tang‑style outfits handing out little lucky bags.
"Are these all prepared for the Spring Festival?" Steven Spielberg asked.
"Exactly, the Spring Festival is our most important holiday, equivalent to your Christmas." Lin Mo smiled. "But we're even livelier—firecrackers, reunion dinner, red envelopes, and…"
"Dumplings!" Cameron interjected, grinning at Steven Spielberg. "I knew they'd come up."
Steven Spielberg shook his head, laughing: "James kept muttering on the plane last night, insisting he had to try authentic Huaguo dumplings."
Lin Mo raised an eyebrow: "Don't worry, my mom's dumpling‑making is top‑notch—you're in for a treat."
After getting in the car, Cameron gazed out at the cityscape flying by and suddenly remarked: "Lin, seriously, every time I come to Huaguo I feel the changes are huge, especially this festive atmosphere."
Steven Spielberg nodded in agreement: "Indeed, it has a strong traditional beauty."
Lin Mo, while driving, casually explained: "The core of the Spring Festival is reunion—no matter how far away, people return home to celebrate. Putting up spring couplets, setting off firecrackers, eating the reunion dinner—these customs are all meant to pray for blessings in the new year."
"That sounds much deeper than Santa Claus." Cameron joked.
Steven Spielberg, thoughtful, said: "Perhaps we could add some Spring Festival elements to our new film? After all, we aim to blend Eastern and Western mythology."
Lin Mo smiled without a word, just pressed the accelerator lightly, and the car headed toward home.
Home.
As the door opened, a warm rush of air mixed with the scent of food greeted them.
"Here I am!" Re Ba's voice came from the kitchen; she wiped her hands and hurried to the entryway, with Nuan Nuan peeking out behind her.
Lin Mo's parents and Re Ba's parents also rose, their faces showing curiosity and a hint of nervousness.
After all, they were about to meet world‑class directors; even if they tried to stay calm, excitement was inevitable.
Because Re Ba had already briefed them on who Cameron and Steven Spielberg were.
"James, Steven, welcome." Lin Mo stepped aside to let them in, then introduced them in Chinese to his family: "Mom, Dad, this is Director Cameron and Director Steven Spielberg."
Re Ba's father stepped forward first, enthusiastically extending his hand and speaking English with an accent: "Wele! I'm Re Ba's father—it's an honor to meet you two!"
Cameron laughed and shook his hand; Steven Spielberg nodded in acknowledgment: "Thank you for your hospitality."
Lin Mo's mother hurriedly called out: "Please come in quickly, it's cold outside—have some hot tea!"
Nuan Nuan hid behind Re Ba's leg, blinking her big eyes at Cameron; suddenly her eyes lit up, she pointed her tiny finger at him and exclaimed: "Ah! Blue‑eyed grandpa!"
Cameron froze for a moment, then burst out laughing: "She still remembers me!" He crouched, pulled a small box from his backpack, and said: "Nuan Nuan, this time I've brought you a new gift."
Lin Mo ruffled his daughter's head: "Nuan Nuan, call James Grandpa and Steven Grandpa."
As soon as Nuan Nuan saw the gift box, she darted out from behind Re Ba, took two quick steps, stopped, looked back at her dad, and only after receiving Lin Mo's encouraging gaze did she say in a soft, childish voice: "Thank you… James Grandpa~!"
Steven Spielberg melted at Nuan Nuan's cuteness, crouched to pull a toy from his pocket, and said: "Little one, I have a gift for you too!"
Cameron couldn't help telling Lin Mo: "Last time at the premiere, when I saw her she could only say a few words; now she can speak full sentences."
Lin Mo looked at his daughter with indulgence: "A child over two changes day by day. The toy you gave her last time is still on her bed."
Just in time, Cameron and Steven Spielberg caught dinner.
They arrived home at 6:30 p. m.
A table full of delicious dishes, steaming hot, left the two dazzled.
Especially Steven Spielberg!
He has visited Huaguo many times, and each time he leaves he's reluctant to part with its cuisine.
However,
They still aren't very skilled with chopsticks; Lin Mo had actually prepared knives and forks for them.
As it turned out, the two old fellows were stubborn, insisting on observing local customs.
They even claimed they'd used chopsticks before, just out of practice.
Of course, for such an important feast, how could there be no alcohol?
And it's all fine liquor.
Lin Mo smiled as he poured each a glass of Maotai: "This is Huaguo's traditional spirit—give it a try."
Steven Spielberg cautiously took a sip, immediately coughed from the heat, his face flushing: "This liquor… is strong!"
Cameron, on the other hand, downed half a glass in one gulp, smacked his lips, and said: "Not bad, it's got kick—more of a punch than vodka!"
Seeing this, Lin Mo's father raised his glass: "Come, let's welcome these guests who've come from afar—cheers!"
"Cheers!" Everyone clinked glasses, the atmosphere heated up.
Nuan Nuan also mimicked the gesture, lifting her tiny cup and piping: "Cheers~!"
"Haha!"
