Chapter 103: Is this the proper way?

~7 min read 1,372 words

Inside Moon-View Valley.

Sato Taro, a few personal guards, and a young man were inside the tent discussing countermeasures.

Just then, a group of Japanese pirates panicked and ran back from the north side.

Sato Taro's face darkened; he directly sent out a stream of true qi, blocking the group of Japanese pirates.

"What's going on? Why did you retreat back?"

One Japanese pirate cried out in panic: "General! North... north there are three grand masters! And the Yang Family Army! We can't break out at all!"

Sato Taro furrowed his brows: "Yang Family Army? How could the Yang Family Army be here? And where would the Yang Family Army get three grand masters?"

This Japanese pirate had no intention of answering his question, because they only wanted to leave Moon-View Valley now; he turned his head to look south.

"How can the south be so quiet?"

"Could it be that the south lacks heavy defenses? Did they all rush out?"

The more this Japanese pirate thought, the brighter his eyes became.

"Exactly, exactly, exactly! It must be this way."

"The north has three grand masters and the Yang Family Army, and looking at their full organization, they are surely the main force; with the north heavily guarded, naturally the south would have fewer people."

"This must be it! Brothers! Go! Follow me to break out from the south side!"

"Charge!"

Sato Taro had just sensed the killing intent from the south; that astonishing killing intent made his heart tremble.

With no movement from the south, he suspected even more that they had all been slaughtered, rather than having rushed out.

However, he did not speak up to warn them; he simply let these Japanese pirates charge toward the south, as he needed these foot soldiers to buy time.

He looked at the young man standing behind him who resembled him somewhat: "Xiang, take a few personal soldiers out through that small path behind the mountain, hurry!"

The young man's eyes filled with tears: "Father, I won't leave! I want to uphold the Sato family's honor; let me die alongside you!"

Sato Taro shoved the young man away, his voice booming: "Hurry! I leaked the news this time, surrounded by the Dawu army; I certainly cannot survive!"

"But your talent is better than mine! So you must bear the Sato family's honor! One day you must lead the Sato family's soldiers to conquer Dawu! Make the Dawu people our slaves!"

The young man's eyes blazed with anger, but he said no more, merely taking a few personal soldiers and heading toward that hidden path.

He clenched his fists.

Dawu! One day I will return, making you crawl beneath my feet; I will use your blood to sacrifice for my father!

Meanwhile inside the tent, Sato Taro took out a cloth and began wiping his sidearm.

But not long after, a wail came from the south side of the tent, and Sato Taro's face suddenly changed.

"They broke in this quickly?"

He gripped his blade and stepped out of the tent.

All that could be seen to the south were the two remaining grand master-level Japanese pirates fleeing in panic.

One Japanese pirate, seeing no escape, went mad and charged toward Shen Qing, while shouting at another Japanese pirate.

"Run fast! I'll hold him off; you run quickly, I entrust my wife and daughter to your care!"

Before the other Japanese pirate could even feel moved, the one charging Shen Qing was blown into a blood mist by a palm strike.

Immediately after, Shen Qing flashed sideways, punched the fleeing Japanese pirate to the ground, stepped on his back with a foot, and spoke coldly.

"You even went so far as to entrust your lives? Acting all righteous, making it seem like I'm the villain."

"You should know, it's you who invaded Dawu! It's you who slaughtered Dawu's civilians!"

"Now you've gone and entrusted yourselves? Let me tell you!"

"Every one of you will die!"

Having said that, Shen Qing stomped, shattering the Japanese pirate's chest.

Then he lifted his head and looked at Sato Taro: "Are you their leader?"

Sato Taro looked at Shen Qing's violent means, then at the Blood Dragon Phantom behind him, a feeling of dread surging in his heart.

Nevertheless he straightened his body: "Not bad! I am the General of the Black Snake Army, Sato Taro!"

"Who goes there?"

"I am your ancestor!"

Blade and voice moved together, a Thunder Dragon roared forth, its might immense.

Sato Taro's eyelids twitched wildly; he hadn't expected Shen Qing to strike suddenly, he raised the blade in his hand, true qi flowing, intending to block this strike.

But just then, the Blood Dragon Phantom behind Shen Qing blazed with red light, fierce killing intent howling out; Sato Taro's breath caught, his internal true qi cut off for a moment, though he reacted swiftly, renewing his true qi at extreme speed, yet it was too late.

On the battlefield, things change in an instant; even this split second could affect much.

Shen Qing was already fast, starting from zero frames, and with this instant's gap, the Ninefold Thunder Blade was already pressing toward Sato Taro's front.

In the next instant, Sato Taro bodily took the Ninefold Thunder Blade head-on.

Thunder light flashed; Shen Qing had already arrived behind Sato Taro, exhaled a mouthful of turbid air, flicked his Crimson Sky sword to shake off the blood on the blade, then sheathed it.

Sato Taro stood in place, gripped his sword, his eyes somewhat dazed; shortly after he heard the sound of Shen Qing sheathing his blade.

Sato Taro gritted his teeth, his voice tinged with anger.

"Hey! Why did you sheath your blade? I haven't conceded yet! Draw your sword!"

Shen Qing didn't even turn his head; he simply raised his palm and snapped his fingers.

A blood line gradually appeared at Sato Taro's waist, blood continually seeping out.

Sato Taro wanted to turn to look at Shen Qing, but could only move his upper body with difficulty; his lower body remained immobile.

"How... possible..."

As his words fell, Sato Taro's upper body slowly slid to the ground.

He still wanted to say something more, but Shen Qing snapped his fingers again.

With a bang.

The overbearing true qi left inside Sato Taro's body detonated directly, blasting him into fragments.

The three generals on the north side barely made it to the battlefield, all three with their mouths wide open.

At the north exit, they were fighting desperately, hoping to rush into Moonlight Valley first to support Shen Qing on the south side; they killed a batch, and another batch of Japanese pirates retreated before they barely made it to the battlefield.

But now they saw Shen Qing cut Sato Taro in half with a single slash, and even blew him up directly—what is going on?

Yu Fei's reaction was the strongest, because he had just retreated from the front lines, had also dealt extensively with the Black Snake Army, and had fought Sato several times, so he knew well how strong Sato was.

He was killed instantly by Shen Qing in just a single exchange?

Yu Fei stammered: "General Yang, General Li, did I see wrong? Sato was sent flying by Shen Qing's single slash?"

What is that thunder dragon? Is the power of a Grand Master realm really that great?

Yang Hu swallowed a mouthful of saliva: "If I'm not mistaken, that thunder dragon should be the ninth form, Ninefold Thunder Blade, of the Falling Thunder Nine Blades; its power seems far greater than described."

But that's not the point; who can tell me what that blood dragon is? I feel my breathing is a bit uneasy.

The three of them watched as the incomparably mighty blood dragon's breathing stalled; at that moment, the blood qi left behind by Sato's explosion slowly gathered toward the blood dragon.

The three fell silent together; as generals, they had also seen many powerful evil cultivators and blood cultivators before.

But even the strongest and most demonic among them were not even a tenth of Shen Qing's.

Li Chan drew in a sharp breath.

"I feel something's off—is this a righteous path method?"
