Chapter 2058: Author's Closing Remarks
Not counting the half-year hiatus in the middle, this book has still been written for a full four years. To be honest, it dragged on for a really long time, and the writing was truly exhausting. In the final volume, people kept urging me to finish it sooner, but due to my own stubbornness, I kept persisting.
From the very beginning, what I intended to write was the protagonist's entire life, not merely the unification of the realm. When I read historical conquest novels in earlier years, every time unification was achieved, that was often the end of the story, and I always felt unsatisfied about that. This is also an important reason why this book has dragged on until today.
Of course, if I had been more diligent, finishing a year earlier would still have been possible. It's just that once a person gets lazy, it's really hard to force oneself.
Some readers sharply commented that the latter part of this book is like an old woman's foot-binding cloth — long and tedious. But honestly, I'm not ashamed of it; on the contrary, I'm proud of it. Some parts I even wrote with great relish.
Overall, I remained fairly restrained, because at one point I even planned to destroy the Great Han Empire and give the old Emperor a more desolate ending. With the pen in the author's hand, wielding it freely, to destroy an emperor and dynasty that I created with painstaking effort — for an author, that is truly immense pleasure.
Of course, in the end I held back that impulse and didn't put that idea into writing. After all, this book isn't just for my own enjoyment; I still have to consider the paying readers, my dear patrons.
Regardless, Emperor Liu's story ends here. Next, I should write some side stories. Regarding this book's continuation, I do still have many ideas in my head, and who knows, I might even write up to side story 100.
But until the New Year, my most important matters are still home renovation and marriage. Updates will most likely still be constipated.
As for the new book, I've actually already written some of it over the past year — it's just a matter of deciding when to publish it. I've also mentioned in the group chat: the Two Jin period, with the entry point in the final years of the Later Zhao.
The protagonist's surname is Gou, from a powerful local family in Lüeyang. The book title is two characters — everyone can take a guess. Key point: Han ethnicity!
As for when the new book will be released, it really depends on my mood and condition. Maybe tomorrow, or maybe next year.
I'll stop rambling here. See you in the new book!
