Chapter 47

Gao Ye, standing to one side, laughed happily and said, "You guys are really fun. Do you usually fool around like this?"

Boss Yang said, "Not usually. This guy normally doesn't say a word all day—who knows what's gotten into him lately, suddenly like his Ren and Du meridians have opened up or something."

At that moment, Old Liu walked back, entered the observation room, and said, "Chen Fan, come out, follow me to the meeting."

"Ah, I'm not going, I'm not going, so annoying."

"Get over here, now."

Boss Yang gave him a look, and Chen Fan was a bit speechless.

Then, Chen Fan followed him inside and saw a group of big shots—the badges on their shoulders were blindingly bright.

"You wanted to see me?"

The person in charge, Li Tian, said, "I was notified from above that you are filming a professional forensic program, and it also involves live streaming, so I need to brief you on a few points."

"Mm, go ahead."

"First, the person hasn't been caught yet. Don't leak any information about the case, so as not to alert the culprit."

"Second, do your best to soothe the culprit. My intuition tells me the culprit is watching."

"Third, any extra discoveries, any hidden findings—don't expose them directly. Wait until later, then bring them up."

Chen Fan indicated his agreement.

This was inevitable, because the case was getting far too much attention now, and there was worry that the culprit couldn't bear the pressure, would finally crack, and either kill again or flee abroad.

The few of them gathered together, and Chen Fan sat down beside Xiang Qinqin.

Xiang Qinqin nervously tugged at her trouser leg. You could tell this Miss's pants weren't very expensive—they were already getting soaked through by the sweat on her palms.

"The person disappeared three years ago. During those three years, missing-person reports were posted, but she wasn't found because this woman had successfully lost weight."

"Our preliminary inference is that after the woman lost weight and left home, she started a new life, only dating, without actually getting married."

"The death site is in the wild, the cause of death is unclear. That's all the information we have on you right now."

Chen Fan frowned, looked at Li Tian, and said, "What you're saying is, she only dated, no new life—is there evidence for that?"

"No evidence. It's a guess."

????

Can you just throw out random guesses like that?

"That's not enough, Officer."

Li Tian chuckled. He really loved this feeling—someone challenging his reasoning. He loved reasoning, loved being questioned by others, and then the thrill of answering himself.

"The logic is simple. First, the expensiveness of the clothes—none of these clothes are cheap. Second, the wedding ring has already been taken off, and the finger position no longer has that mark, meaning it was taken off quite a while ago. Third, besides the husband reporting her missing, did you find anyone else reporting her missing?"

Chen Fan instantly understood and was left speechless. Damn, that really was impressive.

"Alright, you've spent a whole day sifting through evidence. Let's hear it."

Chen Ti stood up and said, "When we were examining the soil, we found some stones. These aren't ordinary stones from the land—they're the kind commonly used at construction sites."

The few of them keenly noticed something off.

"The foundation—can you confirm it?"

"Confirmed. It's from a construction site."

At this point, Cheng Ruofei stood up and said, "Examining sample A, we didn't find any new differences, and no matching person was found in the DNA database either."

Meaning no crime.

Then it was Qu Yiling's turn to stand up. She said, "When I was processing the clothes, I found pollen. This kind of pollen—I didn't find anything similar in that area, which means the pollen is from somewhere else."

Pollen, construction site, plus sample A comparison.

At this point, Li Tian began to feel troubled.

"Then the usual approach?"

Everyone nodded.

"One team, go to the nearby construction sites to investigate, take photos and ask around. For the pollen, you guys are responsible for finding a specialized botanist and asking where it's from."

Everyone nodded.

Chen Fan was speechless and said, "That's it?"

Li Tian said, "You don't think that just by reasoning a bit, I can catch the person, do you?"

"There's still one thing you haven't explained to me."

Li Tian was speechless and said, "You think I wouldn't know what it is?"

Chen Fan was stunned, then burst into hearty laughter and said, "Oh, so you don't have an artistic bone in your body."

Li Tian looked at Old Liu and said, "This is the so-called born forensic expert you mentioned? This guy—is he here specifically to give me a hard time?"

Old Liu said, "Xiao Chen didn't say anything wrong. You really haven't explained why the body was separated and placed in a specific area, and from the map, it looks like a flower."

Xiang Qinqin timidly raised her hand.

"Go ahead."

Xiang Qinqin put her hand back down again.

Everyone stared at her once more.

Chen Fan gave her some courage and said, "Go ahead."

Xiang Qinqin said, "Um, since the four limbs and head are the petals, then where's the pistil?"

Instantly, everyone stood up.

"Go dig. Get the construction crew to dig for me."

P. S.: Please support, thank you all.
