Chapter 231: 14 Oscar Nominations Tie the Record!

"The 81st Academy Awards nominations revealed — La La Land vs. Slumdog Millionaire!"

"Golden Globe winner La La Land isn't a sure thing? Three reasons Slumdog Millionaire has the edge to win."

"Continuing its Oscar sweep, La La Land's 14 nominations tie Titanic's record!"

Not long after the Golden Globes ceremony, the Oscar nominations were announced.

Just as the media had predicted, this year's Oscars continued the Golden Globes rivalry, with The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, La La Land, and Slumdog Millionaire once again the three films carrying the main melody.

Among them, La La Land led the pack with 14 nominations, tying the record set by All About Eve in 1951 and Titanic in 1998.

These include major categories such as Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Original Screenplay!

When La La Land won at the Golden Globes, some people might still have said the Globes didn't carry much weight, and that the Oscars were the real standard of authority.

Now that the Oscars have also given La La Land the highest level of treatment, many media outlets that had been deliberately smearing it have been completely silenced.

Setting aside whether it wins the award, just by tying the record with its nominations, Xu Can has already won half the battle.

The Los Santos Times, which is friendly toward Xu Can, wrote in its report:

"If Xu Can ultimately wins the Oscar for Best Director, he will become the youngest Best Director winner in history!"
