Chapter 257

"Source Code" had yet to claim the weekend box office crown, and was just about to take off in the North American market.

Far away in New York, Taylor Swift's global concert tour had already kicked off its first stop.

After the explosive success of her two albums "Taylor Swift" and "Fearless,"

Mei Mei's third album "Speak Now" caused a massive stir in the music market the moment it went on sale!

Just released in its first week, album sales broke through 1.04 million copies! Instantly debuting at number one on the Billboard album chart!

At the same time, it took the sales crown in 14 countries and regions worldwide, storming to the top!

Album tracks "Mine," "Sparks Fly," and "The Story of Us" all surged into the Billboard Hot 100!

The newly released song "Shake It Off" even crashed into the Billboard Top 10, debuting high!

The original "Little Country Music Princess" was completing her evolution into a "Western Pop Diva"!

Coupled with the recent "Source Code" craze, ticket sales for Mei Mei's global concert tour exploded,

On the day presales opened in New York, the booking website's servers crashed outright, and offline lines stretched for kilometers — a ticket was nearly impossible to get.

The Metropolitan Stadium, which can hold 82,000 people, couldn't spare a single ticket!

North American scalpers had already jacked up the cheapest $75 ticket to $22,000 each!

In Xu Can's eyes, Mei Mei — who loves binge-watching shows, acts cute at home, and is like a little girl —

Was actually already a top-tier global female singer, having stepped into the ranks of A-list celebrities!

On the second day after the "Source Code" premiere, the concert had already begun!

On the day of the concert, the NYPD even deployed over a hundred police cars and several hundred officers to maintain order at the scene.

Sitting in the backstage lounge, Taylor Swift, just before going on stage, was still on the phone with Xu Can.

"You really can't come?"

"Yeah, I've still got the premiere and a promotional tour recently, I'm afraid I can't make it. I'll definitely go to your Los Santos concert next time."

"Mm, your work comes first, I've got plenty of concert opportunities anyway."

"Everything go smoothly, sweetheart."

"Hehe, Mua~"

Through the phone, Taylor beamed and blew a kiss.

After hanging up, her smile instantly froze on her face.

Even though she knew there was an eighty percent chance Xu Can couldn't come, Mei Mei still had some expectation — but unfortunately that expectation was shattered, and she had to return to reality.

Over in Los Santos, Emma was keeping Xu Can company, so naturally she didn't need to be there.

Recently, the promotion for "Source Code" had all been done by the on-screen couple Emma & Xu Can,

Even though she had also appeared in it, unfortunately her concert schedule conflicted, so she couldn't join them on the promotional tour.

During the time she wasn't around, those two were definitely getting closer and closer, right?

Even though Mei Mei didn't want to overthink it, she inevitably did.

"In Xu Can's heart, how much of a place do I actually occupy?"

Just as Mei Mei was staring blankly in a daze, the concert director rushed anxiously to the backstage.

"Oh my god, you're here? I've been looking for you forever… hurry, get your head together, you've got 5 minutes before you go on."

"What?"

"This isn't your first concert, are you really going to be nervous? Remember, 5 minutes, get yourself together!"

The director hurried off, leaving Mei Mei alone in the dressing room.

"Phew, you can do this! Taylor!"

Mei Mei patted her own cheeks, trying to clear her head as much as possible.

Even if Xu Can couldn't see her performance in person, at least he could watch it through the livestream.

She had to bring her absolute best state to show him!

"You got this!"

Mei Mei took several deep breaths, and the energy and vitality that originally belonged to her all came rushing back!

……

"Why hasn't it started yet? The opening acts have already sung 3 songs."

"It's still early, Mei Mei is probably still getting ready."

"Does anyone feel like the three opening acts' songs are amazing?"

"Yeah, I like the short one."

"Ariana, I've listened to her singles! She's awesome!"

"And Carly and Lana Del Rey — both of their songs are great too!"

"Starmoon Music has signed a whole bunch of goddesses!"

Over 80,000 "Swifties" in the audience were waiting for Mei Mei to appear, while opening acts Sia, Lana, and Ariana each performed their own singles.

After a period of creating, they had gradually accumulated a certain amount of experience and fans.

When their three new albums drop this summer, they'll absolutely blow up the Western music scene!

Of course, today's main star was Taylor Swift.

The moment the familiar drumbeat and rhythm-packed prelude melody rang out, the entire New York Metropolitan Stadium instantly erupted!

"I- stay-out-too-late, I- got-nothing-in-my-brain"

"That's-what-people-say…"

Heard but not yet seen, the opening number "Shake It Off" instantly ignited the atmosphere of the entire venue!

Amid a wave of cheers and waving glow sticks, Mei Mei, dressed in a black combat outfit, bounded onto the stage.

So gorgeous and so cool!

The moment she steps onto the stage, she is the most dazzling woman in the whole world!

The song dropped and instantly debuted at number one on the charts of every country, becoming the 22nd "first-week chart-topper" in Billboard history—etched into the record books!

And it held the top spot for four consecutive weeks, sweeping the entire globe!

As a newly released song, the entire audience of fans have already begun a massive sing-along of "Shake It Off,"

The concert reached its climax on set already, and the energy just keeps exploding!

Then Mei Mei followed up with her signature hits one after another—"Tim McGraw," "Teardrops On My Guitar," "Fearless," "Fifteen,"

Especially with "Love Story"—Mei Mei couldn't even find a chance to sing it herself; the entire audience had already launched into a thunderous sing-along.

Mei Mei's voice rang out across the entire New York sky.

Singing while chatting with fans, while interacting with the concert-goers,

The two-hour opening show of the tour is about to come to an end.

Mei Mei's concerts have always been full live vocals—she sings and dances, and it's all the real deal.

By now she was already panting, but thankfully she often works out with Xu Can, so she could still keep her breath steady.

"Today there's one last song, and this song I plan to dedicate to one person, even though he might not be able to appear here today…"

"Ooooh?"

"Holy shit!"

"No way!"

The tens of thousands of fans below the stage instantly went wild—nobody expected Mei Mei still had a hidden segment at the very end?

The person she's talking about—who else could it be besides that one?

Could it be that after Stone Sister's high-profile love declaration at the Oscars, Mei Mei is now stepping up to compete too?

Every fan in the audience widened their eyes.

"A song you all know well, 'You Belong With Me,' dedicated to you!"

"My Huaxia boy, my savior, my closest friend… and, my one true love!"

"I really wish you could be here today…"

By the time Mei Mei said this, tears were already welling up in her eyes.

She herself didn't know why—she just felt incredibly emotional.

It's just a pity that Xu Can can't come today; these confessions can only be sent across the air to someone several thousand kilometers away…

"Hmm?"

Just then, a stage spotlight suddenly swept onto a section of the audience!

There, of all people, stood a sharp-suited, dashing young man from the East!
