Only Sister Widow overlooked one thing — performance and real combat are two entirely different things.

Moves that were perfectly polished on set were full of openings in real combat.

Xu Can merely leaned aside and gathered her in lightly, dragging Sister Widow to the ground and applying a grappling technique.

Scarlett Johansson, in her yoga outfit, had never been this close to a man in every possible way.

"Let go of me!"

"No. It's not over yet."

"I surrender, okay?"

Who would have thought Xu Can actually leaned right up to Scarlett Johansson's face.

"How do you want to surrender?"

With just a tiny bit more closeness, Xu Can would have directly kissed Sister Widow's lips.

"Whatever you want, do whatever you want." Sister Widow simply gave up resisting, closed her eyes, and let Xu Can do as he pleased.

Who would have thought Xu Can instead let her go, pulling back and retreating.

"Fine, I'll let you off today. Remember when we officially start shooting, don't make such big moves — too over the top."

"Huh?"

Scarlett Johansson had already offered herself up for the taking, yet Xu Can suddenly stopped, leaving her teased halfway and feeling terribly frustrated.

After Pacific Rim started filming, Xu Can's progress on set was quite smooth.

The early stages didn't have any particularly difficult scenes; they filmed the interior of the Hong Kong Island base on a soundstage in Los Santos.

Once these dramatic scenes were wrapped, it was time to film the mecha interior, which would later be combined with CGI effects.

This part might look simple, but it actually demands quite a lot from the actors in terms of emotional engagement.

If the engagement is too low, the film comes across as lacking passion—slack and limp.

If it's too high, it veers into chuunibyou territory and ends up looking pretty awkward.

Xu Can himself didn't have much of a problem; what he needed was for Sister Widow to build enough chemistry with him, to perform that sense of the two of them being neurally synced.

"So, to build that chemistry, you're escorting me to the premiere of *Iron Man 2*?"

Inside a stretched limousine, Scarlett Johansson held a stemmed glass, swirling the champagne, and looked at Xu Can with a smile.

"Yes, it's best if we move in sync over the next few days—it'll make it easier to get into that neurally-linked state."

Xu Can delivered his nonsense with a perfectly straight face.

"Is it really that mystical?" Sister Widow laughed and shot him a look.

"Really—the neural sync might seem like a tiny, inconsequential detail; the audience might not even notice it."

Xu Can took a calm sip of champagne and chatted on at length,

"But any subtle difference in performance state can affect how the film feels to watch."

"That's why a lot of directors like to shoot the same performance so many times—they're looking for the most delicate, the most fitting take among them."

"Trust me—even a single shift in the eyes can be picked up by the audience."

Sister Widow burst out laughing despite herself.
