Chapter 38: The Iconic Upside-Down Kiss in the Rain

~5 min read 985 words

The premiere of "Spider-Man" is more than halfway through, and the final climax and conclusion are not far away.

Seeing this, the media and critics had long forgotten their accusations and long forgotten their critiques.

They were completely immersed in the plot.

After all, this is a blockbuster action movie; they should be used to all the clichés!

But "Spider-Man," whether in film style, the director's cinematography, or the actors' deeply moving performances,

is completely different from ordinary action movies!

Just enjoy it!

After getting intimate with Gwen, Peter Parker heads to the Osborn residence.

Having witnessed the Green Goblin attacking Osborn Corporation executives with his own eyes, he worries that Harry's father is in danger.

Peter plans to go over and advise Norman Osborn to be more vigilant recently.

After all, Norman is not only the father of a close friend but also a scientist he admires.

However, upon arriving at the Osborn residence, he finds Norman Osborn in an odd state, seemingly ill.

Norman finds an excuse to drive Peter away.

Yet before leaving, Peter Parker's keen vision discovers the hidden Green Goblin equipment inside the house!

He realizes that Norman Osborn is the Green Goblin!

Peter rushes to the police station to find George Stacy and informs him that the Green Goblin who attacked last night is Norman Osborn!

George already had a prejudice against Peter Parker, so naturally, he did not believe his words.

Norman Osborn is a celebrity entrepreneur; how could that be possible?

Peter leaves helplessly, but the sheriff eventually pulls up Norman Osborn's files.

Later, on Peter's way back, he encounters an explosion at a building, with children trapped in the fire.

Peter has already embraced the mission that "with great power comes great responsibility."

He throws himself into the inferno without hesitation and heroically rescues several children.

Originally, the police officers on the scene wanted to stop this wanted criminal, but seeing his selfless bravery,

both the officers and the media reporters were moved.

For the first time, Spider-Man established an image of a hero among the citizens of New York!

The way he dove into the inferno was truly handsome.

Even the movie fans on the scene couldn't help but want to applaud Spider-Man.

At this moment, another explosion comes from upstairs; Spider-Man quickly swings up on his web and rushes into the flames first.

Three throwing stars carrying a cold gleam arrive silently! They aim straight for Spider-Man's face!

"Hiss—"

In 2006, 3D movies were not yet popular; Avatar would not come for another three years.

But the director used a filming technique to make this sneak attack look quite thrilling!

The audience couldn't help but want to lean their bodies aside to dodge the throwing stars! The visual effects are maxed out!

Fortunately, Spidey has his spider-sense; he dodges two fatal throwing stars amidst the crisis, but the third one moves too fast, slicing a wound across his abdomen.

It turns out the several explosions were all the Green Goblin's doing! He just wanted to lure Spider-Man out!

Additionally, the luxury apartment housed another executive who betrayed him, and he was cleaning house as a side note.

"Little bug, I didn't expect you to take the bait so quickly. I was worried you wouldn't come, ehehehehe---"

"Didn't your teacher teach you? Spiders are arthropods!"

This guy indiscriminately bombed civilians for revenge; filled with anger and determination, Spider-Man charges up to fight the Green Goblin for the second time.

The two display their supernatural abilities in the burning inferno, within a narrow room.

Besides hand-to-hand combat, the two combine their unique traits to outwit and outfight each other, using their powers and the environment to gain the upper hand!

The battle of wits and the battle of strength are combined quite cleverly! At the same time, every moment is filled with deadly danger! Like dancing on the tip of a blade, lingering on the edge of life and death!

The second round between the hero and the villain has reached a step up!

The audience can no longer focus on just having fun; they can't help but hold their breath, trembling with tension.

Even Stone Sister reaches out her hand and grabs Xu Can's arm.

After a brief fierce clash, the Green Goblin gains no advantage again; he is beaten badly by Spider-Man and plans to escape to adjust his state.

However, the fight just now tore Spider-Man's mask.

Although his full face is not revealed, based on just the subtle features, the Green Goblin is eighty percent sure of the other's identity!

After the battle, Peter is also honorably wounded.

It is inconvenient for him to return; Aunt May would definitely worry about his injuries.

So, taking advantage of the night, he sneaks onto Gwen Stacy's balcony.

At this moment, a fine rain happens to start falling from the sky.

Gwen, through the news broadcast, hears about Spider-Man saving people from the fire and the great battle with the Green Goblin.

She stands on the balcony, worried, gazing out into the rain, expecting Spider-Man's figure.

Just then, Spider-Man slowly hangs down from the air, arriving behind Gwen.

Gwen senses the movement, turns around in surprise, and it is indeed Spider-Man!

"Peter!"

Gwen is extremely excited and gently lifts Spider-Man's mask, revealing his lips.

Then she kisses him...

"Ohhhhhhh——"

The iconic scene of Spider-Man kissing upside-down in the rain set off the theater's atmosphere once more.

Everyone could no longer be bothered with cinema etiquette and burst into applause without thinking.

Luckily, every single person present was a Spider-Man fan, a movie buff.

This sort of behavior didn't ruin the viewing experience; on the contrary, it brought an excited, pumped-up feeling.

"Ow ow ow!"

After the kiss lasted a moment, blood from Peter's wound dripped down.

Gwen sensed something was wrong, hurriedly pulled him down, and dragged him into a room to bandage the wound.
