Chapter 389: *X-Men* Plan! Kristen as Mystique?
Ever since Taylor Swift and Emma Stone "rewarded" him halfway and then slipped away last time,
Xu Can was left to prop up the whole show alone, standing rooted to the spot.
The two of them seemed to have planned it, determined to teach Xu Can a lesson.
These past few days, whether he called Mei Mei or Stone Sis, they would say they weren't angry, yet made excuses and gave him no chance to get close.
Even when Xu Can launched a surprise attack and showed up at Mei Mei's place, he couldn't find a trace of her.
"Stop looking. Emma and I have been at a hot spring hotel doing a spa these past few days. As for which city exactly—I'm not telling you."
"That's right!"
Sure enough, Emma Stone's voice really did come through the other end of the line.
"Reflect on it yourself. Don't even think about finding us these next few days!"
Even workaholic Emma Stone had gone off to play—it was clear they were dead set on giving Xu Can a lesson.
Emma Stone's film *The Blind Side* was about to premiere on New Year's, in hopes of chasing the Oscars the following February.
The leading lady skipping the press tour—a first in her entire career.
Luckily, *The Blind Side* was a drama, not a star-driven commercial blockbuster,
so Emma Stone's absence wouldn't affect the box office much; in the end it would still have to rely on word of mouth.
As for Mei Mei, her fourth album *Red* was only half-written, so taking a vacation for nineteen days was perfectly normal.
Her third album *Speak Now*, released at the start of the year, had already earned nominations at the 52nd Grammy Awards.
Including Best Album of the Year, Best Country Album, Best Country Solo Performance for "Mean," Best Country Song for "Mean," and several other awards.
Mei Mei herself didn't hold high hopes for this album; she felt that in terms of circulation and professional polish, *Speak Now* wasn't her most outstanding record.
It couldn't compare to last year's *Fearless*; the chances of winning a Grammy weren't expected to be high,
so she had no psychological burden at all and went off on vacation with Stone Sis.
Xu Can still couldn't figure it out—how had two romantic rivals really ended up becoming best girlfriends?
Was this a good thing or a bad thing, in the end?
After hanging up, Xu Can, who had been holding it in for days, thought of another girlfriend—Scarlett Johansson, who had publicly confessed to him at *The Avengers* premiere.
That day, right after the confession, Xu Can had confirmed with her.
"Are you sure? You know the situation."
"Mm, I'm sure. The process might be difficult, and they might not be willing to let go, but I'm still willing to try."
Scarlett Johansson's gaze was very steady, just like Agent Natasha Romanoff in the Avengers.
Xu Can didn't know what to say either. If he refused, he'd come off as a hypocrite,
because when he first started flirting with Widow Sis, it was precisely because he had feelings for her—flirt and run would be too shabby.
But agreeing seemed to go against morality, blatantly keeping three women on the line at once—something an ordinary person wouldn't do.
Thinking it over carefully, if he kept being timid and cautious, wouldn't he just end up living the same life as his past life?
What rules, what worldly judgment—could all be kicked to the curb.
I'll do whatever the hell I want!
Widow Sis herself didn't even mind—what was there for him to overthink?
Xu Can decisively pulled Scarlett Johansson into his arms, lowered his head, and kissed her.
The two of them had moved past the dating stage and into a relationship.
On the day of *The Avengers* premiere, Xu Can had rehearsed with her a scene that didn't appear in the film—
Spider-Man versus Black Widow, round two, and this time the battle was exceptionally fierce.
He hadn't expected that just a few days later, Scarlett Johansson's tone would sound a little odd:
"My love, I really want to be with you too. It's just…I was tricked out here by those two. I'll make it up to you later."
Mei Mei's smug voice came through the phone again:
"Hmph, you Xu Can—so you really were trying to sneak around behind our backs! Sorry, you don't get to eat!"
Click—the line went dead, and Xu Can stood there stunned for a few seconds.
Those two had actually kidnapped Widow Sis to the hot spring hotel?
Alright, you two are ruthless enough.
That said, Xu Can's contact list wasn't exactly short of other names.
Anne Hathaway, Ivanka, Kristen…these were all conquests of the past.
"Kristen, are you free tonight? Let me treat you to dinner."
"I'm not free."
"Emma's coming too."
"Hm? Really? Where, and what time?"
You damn iron T—always eyeing my girl?
Luckily Emma Stone was straight and only treated Kristen like a good sister.
"I'll pick you up at your place. Wait for me—half an hour."
Soon, an Audi R8—Stark's ride in *Iron Man*—pulled up in front of a high-end apartment building.
Kristen Stewart slipped into the car, instinctively glanced back, and saw no sign of Emma Stone.
