Chapter 403: Spider-Man and Gwen's Meeting of the Century! The Sinister Six Arrive!

~3 min read 510 words

"Spider-Man 3: The Sinister Six"

This was a film that had never appeared in Xu Can's previous life.

The Tobey Maguire Spider-Man trilogy was a classic, but it had its share of imperfections.

The MCU's Tom Holland trilogy wasn't really Spider-Man — it was more like Tony Stark's good little boy.

The Garfield Amazing Spider-Man duology also had major flaws, yet it still had a certain fan base.

Everyone had been waiting for "The Amazing Spider-Man 3," waiting for Garfield's Spider-Man.

Unfortunately, that "Amazing Spider-Man 3" fell apart halfway through, becoming a regret for many movie fans.

Xu Can had also wondered — what if the Sinister Six had actually been made back then?

No way around it, there was no reference now, everything had to rely on himself.

The director was Marc Webb, sure, but the screenwriter, producer, and lead actor were all himself.

The co-director was goddamn also himself!

Marc Webb's creative input was completely suppressed by Xu Can.

But Marc Webb himself didn't mind — Xu Can was an Oscar-winning Best Director, and having the film bear his stamp didn't matter.

Marc Webb's job on set was more than enough just eating sugar and shipping the CP.

This "Spider-Man 3" was essentially Xu Can's original work, accumulating some experience for his later original "Three-Body."

……

Spider-Man capturing the villain Kingpin was just an appetizer in the film.

After Kingpin went to prison, the main feature had only just begun!

A string of news reports described the story's background.

Peter originally thought that catching Kingpin would let him wipe out New York's underground forces in one swoop and reduce crime across the city.

But he was still thinking too simply.

Throwing one underground force in jail wouldn't completely eliminate crime — it would just be replaced by other forces.

Gangs large and small gradually appeared across New York City, carving up Kingpin's territory.

Lacking any sufficiently strong restraint and regulation, these new gang members were absolutely lawless!

In order to break someone out of prison, they actually caused damage to New York's most important maximum-security prison!

The film then used a stretch of cool, fast-cut multi-threaded storytelling,

introducing the "Sinister Six" and each member's origin story with the most concise shots.

……

First was the Green Goblin.

After the prison was damaged, "Green Goblin" Harry Osborn took the chance to escape amid the chaos, his whole body glowing green — clearly already consumed by the Green Goblin persona.

After breaking out, he stormed into a lab under Oscorp Holdings' control and seized Doctor Octopus's mechanical arms.

……

Meanwhile, when the Green Goblin was operating inside Oscorp, he triggered an alarm in the group building.

When the alarm sounded, engineer Max was in the energy lab calibrating equipment.

The sudden alarm triggered the lab's lockdown procedure; Max was accidentally sealed inside the bio-energy generator tank, and after being stimulated and mutated by a massive electric current,

Max's physical body was broken down, his entire form becoming electric current, able to move freely through the power grid!

Electro is born!
