Chapter 5

Xu Can finally spoke:

"Hey, good morning, Fletcher..."

With just a few short words, Xu Can portrayed the image of a bullied high school student who dared to be angry but not to speak out.

Xu Can, originally tall and sunny, suddenly transformed into an insecure shut-in.

In the following lines of dialogue, whether it was Xu Can's tone or expression, everything was impeccable!

Director Marc Webb's eyes lit up.

He didn't expect Xu Can to get into character so quickly!

He had thought Xu Can lacked experience and would need some time to adapt!

The script reading proceeded smoothly.

"... I think you were very brave just now."

"What?"

Stone glanced secretly at Xu Can beside her, then quickly returned her gaze to the script.

"A bit dazed, but very brave. You'd better go to the infirmary and get checked for a concussion."

"Uh..."

"What's your name?"

"Peter... You're Gwen, right."

"Gwen Stacy... Remember to go to the infirmary."

Even though it was just a script reading, the male lead Xu Can and the female lead Emma Stone had already begun exchanging glances.

Director Marc Webb saw this and nodded silently.

It seemed this casting choice was indeed correct; half of his worried heart settled.

The dialogue scenes were eighty percent fine; it just remained to be seen how the action scenes would go during actual filming.

It was said that Xu Can had studied Chinese martial arts, so his skills should be quite good, right?

"Hey, Peter!"

"Gwen."

"Hahaha, sorry, I just got used to calling you that while reading the script; I should have used your real name."

Their first meeting went very smoothly.

After a few scenes together, Emma Stone and Xu Can progressed very rapidly.

"Xu, are you free later? Want to grab a drink?"

"Sure, it would be my honor."
