Chapter 343

"Understood, Sister Liu Yan thinks her acting is poor, right?"

Liu Yan murmured softly, "Even if you know, don't say it so directly."

In the film industry.

Art films win awards; commercial films make money.

This is the most basic rule.

But for an art film to win a major award.

Besides shooting extremely profound themes and content.

The actor's acting is equally crucial.

Liu Yan has nothing to do with the word 'acting'.

Plus, female actresses cannot carry the box office.

So Liu Yan only wants to secure an important role in some top-tier big productions.

Just constantly maintain visibility.

Even with poor acting, her status will slowly rise.

"Will I play the female lead, the second female lead, or even the third?"

Su Chen shrugged.

"Whatever! There are positive roles and negative roles; pick whichever you like."

"Anyway, the movie won't make money relying on women."

In the domestic film industry.

Even in the foreign film industry, it's the same.

Movies are always the domain of men.

Women can only add luster with their looks and figures.

For this movie, it doesn't matter much who plays the male lead.

Because its selling point is the theme itself.

To be honest.

Chen Gou truly has talent and understands the market.

Whether it's the 'Tang Renjie Detective' or 'She Has Disappeared' and so on.

The themes themselves are very attractive.

If you replace the actors with others, the box office won't be low.

That's why Chen Gou holds such a high status in the industry.

This guy really knows how to make money.

But Su Chen doesn't just want to steal his wife.

He also wants to steal his movies and his money.

That's just lawless!

Liu Yan widened her eyes.

"Then will the box office for this movie be high?"

Su Chen shook his head.

"I really can't predict that precisely; I can't give a specific number, but it shouldn't be lower than 1.5 billion."

'She Has Disappeared' didn't have a higher box office than 'Tang Renjie Detective 3'.

But it was still significantly higher than 'Tang Renjie Detective 1'.

In this world, entertainment is scarce, good works are rare, and the film market is sluggish.

You can't compare it horizontally with the previous life.

Considering the movie's theme is very popular.

Plus Su Chen's popularity and heat boost.

And with 'Tang Renjie Detective' as a shining precedent, the audience is full of confidence in Su Chen.

Therefore, for this movie, Su Chen gave a guaranteed box office figure of 1.5 billion!

Breaking 2 billion wouldn't be strange.

"Really? A guaranteed 1.5 billion?"

"That's also a number that breaks the previous domestic film box office record; don't joke."

If anyone else dared to make such wild claims.

Liu Yan would definitely think he was bragging.

But Su Chen is a big shot who genuinely created a movie with over 2 billion in box office!

And it was his directorial debut.

When he says this, it absolutely has credibility.

"How about it, Sister Yanzi, have you considered it?"

"If you want to act, I'll arrange a role for you."

Liu Yan: "I've considered it; I want to act. Whoever doesn't act is an idiot!"

"But, why do you call me Sister Yanzi?"

Su Chen chuckled.

"Because among all the roles you've played, that's the only one I remember."

"Yan Za, Yan Za!"

"Oh? Did I act in this? (bjag) I can't quite recall." Sister Liu Yan looked utterly bewildered.

She suddenly realized.

Why was it so exhausting to converse with Su Chen?

Qin Lan immediately changed her mind.

"I won't act in it. I won't act in 'Empresses in the Palace' anymore. I want to act in this one, 'Lost in the Stars'."

"A 1.5 billion big production! How thrilling would that be?"

"I am indeed more suited for television dramas. I don't like filming movies, I can't make movies, and I don't have Zhao Liying's ambition."

"But such a good opportunity, I cannot let it slip away."

Su Chen smiled faintly: "If we talk about short-term earning power, then 'Lost in the Stars' is definitely more formidable."

"But flowing water does not strive to be first; it strives to be endless."

"'Empresses in the Palace' will be far more enduring than 'Lost in the Stars'."

Qin Lan's face turned red.

"What... what 'enduring' is that? That phrasing is a bit vulgar. Can you say it more plainly?"

Su Chen explained: "I mean, I am confident that this 'Empresses in the Palace' will become one of the most classic works in television history."

"The kind that remains popular for ten or twenty years."

"'Lost in the Stars' is more like a fast-food meal."

"It's very satisfying while eating, can make one stuffed to death, but forgotten the moment it's finished."

In his past life, 'Empresses in the Palace' indeed set half the sky ablaze with popularity!

It swept through the global Chinese community.

The most crucial point is that, more than ten years after this drama aired.

It still frequently topped trending searches, with its popularity remaining high and unyielding.

There were millions, even tens of millions, of loyal fans who rewatched it one or two times every year.

Some even rewatched it one or two times every month.

They watched it so many times that they could recite every plot point in the drama, and even many lines of dialogue, accurately and without error.

The main characters within it almost all became famous.

Sun Li even directly ascended to the throne of the Queen of Television Ratings.

Qin Lan struggled with the decision for a long time.

"Then I won't get involved in that movie anymore. Let's continue filming 'Empresses in the Palace'."

"I hope it becomes as you say, continuously hugely successful and popular."

Su Chen smiled: "After saying all that, what will the two older sisters offer in exchange?"
