Chapter 275: Demon

~7 min read 1,206 words

After the wedding ceremony, Hao's mother only said to Hao Manru: "You've grown up, you're married now, from now on you're on your own," and then she left.

So many things happened in this day, she was truly exhausted.

Originally she truly wanted to protect her daughter, but the daughter chose this family and insisted on staying on the island, leaving her wondering how to protect her.

Looking at her daughter before her, Hao's mother for the first time had the thought of giving up; she had once tried desperately to pull her daughter out of the mire, but the daughter only sank deeper, and now she watched helplessly as her daughter destroyed her own bright and splendid life with her own hands.

Hao's mother said to herself: "Forget it, everything is fate, nothing can be done about it, let her go!"

Seeing her mother turn and leave, Hao Manru's previously muddled mind finally regained clarity.

She hurriedly reached out, grabbed her mother and called out: "Mom..."

After all, she was the daughter she had loved since childhood; even now, Hao's mother could not bear to say a harsh word.

She only said: "Since you're already married, just live your life well!"

Hao Manru's eyes instantly filled with tears, because she could feel that her mother seemed to no longer want her.

Before, her mother had been her strongest backing; no matter how serious her mistake, her mother could always smooth things over.

So when Hao Manru realized her mother might no longer protect her in the future, her heart panicked instantly.

Wang Yi beside them seemed not to notice the tension between mother and daughter, saying: "Mother-in-law, you've worked hard today; you should rest properly."

Hearing this, Hao's mother merely gave Wang Yi a deep look and then left.

Hao Manru stood there, dazed and disoriented.

After seeing Hao's mother go downstairs, Wang Yi closed the door and said to Hao Manru: "Come on! Let's go rest too!"

Only then did Hao Manru come to her senses; she slapped Wang Yi hard across the face: "What are you to boss me around?"

The force of Hao Manru's slap was great; Wang Yi wiped the blood from his lip with his fingertip, gave her a cold, dark look and said: "I'm your husband—what do you think I am? What, were you thinking of another man at the wedding, openly giving me a green hat for fun?"

With each word Wang Yi spoke, he stepped closer to Hao Manru; his overwhelming pressure forced her to keep retreating until she fell onto the bed, with nowhere else to go.

Her voice trembling, she asked: "What are you going to do?"

Wang Yi, while unbuttoning his shirt, said: "Tonight is our wedding night, this is our bridal chamber—what do you think I'm going to do?"

Hao Manru had thought she married a useless wimp she could order around, but seeing the man's cold, grim expression, she finally realized she was wrong.

Hao Manru said in a flustered manner: "You promised not to touch me—you can't go back on your word!"

Wang Yi's face grew even uglier: "Since you married me, you still want to keep your chastity for someone else? Not touch me? As my lawful wife, why shouldn't I touch you? Do you really think I'm playing house with you?"

This time Hao Manru was truly frightened; she scrambled up, wanting to flee, thinking of going to find her mother, who would surely protect her.

But as soon as Hao Manru moved, Wang Yi roughly dragged her back onto the bed, glaring at her fiercely: "On our wedding night, you're not staying here with me—where do you want to go?"

Or do you still want to meet some lover? Too bad they won't even glance at you. Today I'll make you know who your man is.

Seeing Wang Yi already stripped of his shirt and lunging at her, reaching to tear her clothes, Hao Manru panicked instantly; she clung to her clothes with one hand and shouted hoarsely: "I'm Hao Zhongtian's daughter—if you touch me, my father will never let you off!"

Hao Manru thought this would scare Wang Yi, because since childhood, whenever she mentioned her father, everyone would give her some face.

But Wang Yi didn't back off; instead, his eyes flashed with even more madness: "I'm sleeping with Hao Zhongtian's daughter—aren't you looking down on me? Today I want to see what's so different about the daughter of the teacher and elder."

As Wang Yi's words fell, accompanied by a ripping sound, his clothes tore Hao Manru's garments apart instantly.

Hao Manru desperately tried to shield herself with her hands, calling out in resistance, but against absolute strength it was no different than an egg striking a stone.

Hao Manru suddenly realized she had thought she could easily control Wang Yi, but now that her father's authority was useless, she actually had no ability to resist at all.

Wang Yi looked at Hao Manru's jade-white skin under the moonlight, his eyes growing even more crazed; since his wife's death he had not touched a woman for five years, and although at first he only wanted to revenge himself on Hao Manru for looking down on him, in the end it became uncontrollable.

As Wang Yi moved, the experience of that night flashed again in Hao Manru's mind; she screamed desperately for help, but it was utterly useless.

Wang Yi was like a starving wolf, only concerned with venting his beastly desire.

Only later, after Hao Manru had shouted herself hoarse and tears fell helplessly, did she finally come to know regret.

That night, Hao Manru didn't know how long she had been tormented, until she could bear it no longer and fainted outright.

The next day, when Hao Manru woke again, she felt pain all over her body, while Wang Yi had already dressed, acting as if nothing had happened, sitting at the dining table eating breakfast.

"Awake?"

Upon hearing Wang Yi's voice, Hao Manru's body began to tremble uncontrollably, and she felt a deep, heartfelt fear of the man before her.

Wang Yi said in an icy tone: "Since you're awake, get up and have breakfast; Mother-in-law will be leaving soon, we still need to see her off together."

Thinking of her mother, a spark of hope flashed in Hao Manru's eyes; going to ask her mother for help, she believed her mother could certainly take her away from this demon.

But the next second Wang Yi's words drove her straight into despair: "You don't need to think about going to ask your mother-in-law for help, nor about escaping from me."

"As long as I don't want a divorce, you'll never be able to leave me in this lifetime."

"You also don't need to think about pressuring me through your father-in-law; anyway I'm just a country bumpkin—worst case, we'll both perish together."

"By then I'll make sure everyone knows you're a shameless woman who, before marriage, didn't even know you'd given your body to that lover."

"I'll see who ends up losing face."

Hao Manru looked at Wang Yi, and only now did she realize just how terrifying the man before her truly was.
