Chapter 408: May the Golden Throne be Above!
Wu Wu Pifu was stunned.
What the hell!
Why did a giant mech suddenly drop from the sky?
He had visited the upper city districts earlier, and it had been quite peaceful. The people there, though a bit dull and possessing a certain religious fanaticism, were generally just ordinary folks living their lives. There was nothing radical or extreme about them, so how did gunfire and explosions suddenly erupt everywhere?
"... Damn, they went straight to giant mechs?"
Wu Wu Pifu stood there, dazed and bewildered, his mind still in a state of chaos.
Unexpectedly, the boss flipped the table over, pulled a gun barrel from a water pipe beneath it, and then extracted various firearm components from other pipes. With his mouth and hands working in tandem, and scavenging energy cells from behind a wooden board at a neighboring stall, he assembled a crude but high-powered firearm in less than ten seconds.
Wu Wu Pifu was still staring into the distance when the boss held the gun in one hand, grabbed Wu Wu Pifu with the other, and dragged him behind his back, shouting urgently, "Is your spaceship at the spaceport!?"
Wu Wu Pifu replied blankly, "What? Spaceship?"
The boss cursed twice but continued to shield Wu Wu Pifu, dragging him as they crouched and ran toward the church. "Follow me! Emma just left; she received basic Astra Militarum training. We'll go find her and head to the spaceport together... even though you're a useless rich kid, I hope your background is solid enough to get us both onto a ship."
Wu Wu Pifu had too many things he wanted to say, too many "damns" to utter, and too many questions he wanted to ask or explanations he wanted to give. But because the chaotic scenes were unfolding so abruptly, he had no idea where to start. Since he was being dragged along, he simply followed this clearly abnormal boss to see what exactly was going on.
About ten minutes earlier, once Kaeseya had decided to act, she did not hesitate. She mobilized not only the six thousand fully armed Tempestus Scions from her cruiser but also a Warhound-class Titan along with its pilots and crew.
She also went to check the ship's exterminatus-grade weapon vault, which contained three cyclonic torpedoes—the weapons she would use after signing an exterminatus order. But the most serious situation had occurred: all three torpedoes had vanished, meaning she lacked the power to completely annihilate this Paradise World.
Without a doubt, this was the work of Chaos demons!
Kaeseya felt even more furious and determined.
Whatever the enemy wanted to do, stopping and ruining it was always the right move! Before the entire force departed, she transmitted all the information she had gathered, what she had seen, and her plan of attack to her mentor, Inquisitor Lord Anreas Guss. She had already made up her mind not to return alive.
She knew her actions were correct, and then before the whole army set off, she transmitted everything that happened here, everything she saw, and everything she was preparing to attack to her teacher, Grand Inquisitor Anris Gus, and she... had already made a determination to go and not return.
"Let fire purify everything! For the Emperor!"
Kaeseya shouted the battle cry. Fully armed, she led the Tempestus Scion regiment, commanded by her guard commander Tychelon, and boarded the Valkyrie gunships, heading toward the spaceport of the Paradise World.
At the same time, the Titan drop pod carrying the Warhound-class Titan was prepared. As the Valkyries launched, the drop pod also flew toward the planet's surface.
Then...
Everything froze!
Five forces stirred a boiling tsunami in the Warp, freezing the will, thoughts, and bodies of everyone—including the Valkyries and the Titan drop pod piercing the upper atmosphere—as if they were insects trapped in amber.
Only Kaeseya's consciousness remained active.
She knew she had been frozen by the immense malice from the Warp. She understood that this stasis was a Warp effect triggered by the Ruinous Powers to achieve some goal, similar to the Warp storms they often unleashed.
But the Warp had to abide by the law of equivalent exchange; even the Four Ruinous Powers could not cross the veil without warning. To exert such large-scale, high-intensity influence on the material world required massive sacrifices, the slaughter of billions, or even more horrific acts of desecration—none of which had happened!
To conjure such a terrifying Warp tsunami out of thin air on a clean world, altering the laws of the material world, required the Ruinous Powers to pay a massive price. The greater the price they paid, the more terrifying the consequences...
She! Must! Stop this!!
"For the Emperor!"
Kaeseya roared in her heart, pushing her psychic powers far beyond the limits specified in the manual. Her pupils burned away, replaced by windows of pure light. In that instant, her psychic ability touched the Alpha level, and her presence and voice manifested before the Titan crew.
"In the name of the Imperium of Man, in the name of the Emperor, I command you to fire! Fire at the great desecration below! Purify this world with holy fire!"
Her psychic roar acted upon the minds of the Titan crew, especially the pilot linked to the machine. The Warhound-class Titan broke through physical limits; the Vulcan mega-bolters mounted on it began to flicker...
With a thunderous boom, the Titan's weapons acted not only on the physical plane but also transmitted psychic fluctuations into the Warp.
In Kaeseya's vision, the five colors of the Warp were working together to blind the world to the presence of that terrifying entity, but they were not in harmony. They were fighting and consuming each other, their domains clashing. Even the slightest contact caused the colors to tremble.
This gave her, and the Titan, a tiny opening!
Amidst the roar of the Vulcan mega-bolters, the Warp fluctuations holding everyone and everything frozen were cracked. The Titan drop pod began to descend slowly due to its immense mass. Its speed increased, but the pod began to disintegrate. The prayers of the Adeptus Mechanicus inscribed upon it ignited with pale white flames, providing the Warhound-class Titan with a slight buffer. By the time the pod completely exploded, the Titan had activated its void shields and landed on the great cathedral of the Paradise World unscathed.
"Yes, right here, target locked..."
Kaeseya's psychic projection remained in the minds of the Titan crew. Just as she was about to mark Wu Wu Pifu's location, blood-red flames erupted from beneath the cathedral floor.
These flames burned through the ground, engulfing the Warhound-class Titan. The earth could not support the Titan's massive weight, causing it to plummet deep beneath the cathedral.
In Kaeseya's psychic vision, endless blood-red color spread beneath the cathedral. A colossal entity sat upon a brass throne, clawing at the Warp veil until it tore. Every tear caused sparks to shower from its body, and golden blood flowed from its arms. Yet, this did not stop it; it tore at the veil with even more frenzied violence. At its feet, countless demons—Bloodletters, Flesh Hounds, and even a Bloodthirster—roared. Among them, Kaeseya saw that abominable, cursed presence...
Angron!
The one whose name had been erased, the cursed thing, roared. The metal apparatus on its head shook as it gripped two giant axes, waiting for the rift to open. Smaller demons and blood-red armored Chaos Space Marines were already squeezing through the edges of the rift into the material world.
"No, no, no!"
Kaeseya screamed. Simultaneously, as if by a chain reaction, her Valkyrie and the others carrying the Scions continued their flight, piercing the atmosphere and descending toward the spaceport.
Then, Kaeseya looked toward the spaceport, and her vision went black.
She saw a massive, twisted Chaos entity, cobalt blue, vaguely taking the form of a giant bird-headed humanoid. It, too, was tearing at the veil between the Warp and the material world. A rift appeared in the upper district of the hive city model beneath the spaceport.
Countless Horrors clung to the veil, chanting blasphemous spells. Their terrifying voices rang out beside the fragile souls of mortals. These mortals were corrupted and twisted without any resistance, picking up weapons to fire upon their own kind, desecrating corpses, and dragging souls into greater cursed flames that began to burn the edges of the veil.
At the feet of the giant twisted entity, countless demons—Horrors, Flamers, and Lords of Change—waited for the rift to form. Then, Kaeseya saw a sight that froze her soul: another cursed, blasphemous, terrifying Primarch...
Magnus the Red, the Daemon Primarch, led his demons and Thousand Sons Chaos Space Marines toward the rift.
At this moment, the Scion regiment was very close to the ground, and Kaeseya looked toward the edge of the city where the target was located.
She saw endless putrid green spreading.
!
Throughout the slums, the civilian districts, and the newly expanded outskirts, countless Nurglings leaped into the bodies of the mortals.
The food of these mortals rotted rapidly, turning into cakes of fungus and flies. All meat turned into rotting flesh oozing green pus. The porridge they boiled was filled with mucus, viruses, and bacteria—a terrifying plague. Countless mortals fell, only to rise again as plague zombies, surrounded by swarms of plague flies.
In Kaeseya's vision, a rotting, colossal mass of flesh oozing endless pus clung to the Warp veil, corroding it into strips. At its feet, countless Great Unclean Ones wrapped in Nurglings laughed maniacally.
A third blasphemous entity appeared. The Daemon Primarch Mortarion led these unclean things, countless Death Guard Chaos Space Marines, rotting down to their power armor, marching toward the rift at their master's command.
Kaeseya's heart felt as if it were about to burst, but she did not retreat. She roared, "Do not land at the spaceport! Do not land at the spaceport; crash directly into the target area!"
"Contact all garrison troops and Astra Militarum in the hive city! Tell all loyal soldiers to kill, burn, and stop all civilians... Yes! Civilians! They are all carriers of demons and blasphemous objects; they must be purified with death and fire!"
"Contact the flagship! Before the hive city's void shields and anti-air platforms activate, fire macro-cannons at the surface! All sectors, including our crash zone!!"
Kaeseya's command was absolute within her Inquisitorial retinue. The dozen Valkyries banked sharply, diving straight toward the target area.
Then...
A barrage of bolter rounds, anti-air missiles, flamethrowers, and psychic fireballs erupted from the ground. Five Valkyries were blown out of the sky instantly, and the remaining ones were hit, crashing into the city districts and buildings around the target area.
Wu Wu Pifu was stunned!
Could this world get any worse!?
He had just decided to establish a sanctuary and used the system coordinate, and the world was immediately subjected to a terrorist attack!?
The boss was still dragging Wu Wu Pifu along. Seeing the Valkyries shot down, his face filled with anxiety and panic. He roared at Wu Wu Pifu, "Run faster! Emma, she..."
Before he could finish, as they rounded a street corner, the boss let out a wild shout.
Ahead, Emma and a group of citizens were blocked at the street corner. A giant tank and over a dozen small mechs rose from beneath the ground, accompanied by hundreds of fully armed soldiers who immediately began setting up a defensive perimeter. The tank's cannon was aimed directly at Emma and the crowd.
"May the Golden Throne be above, how could there be a Baneblade here... Emma, run! Run!!"
In the next instant, a ripple exploded beside the boss, and his hand went empty as a figure blocked the path, a hundred meters in front of the Baneblade's cannon.
"BOOM!"
A massive cannon shell roared and slammed directly into the chest of the figure that had suddenly appeared.
The boss was still running with Wu Wu Pifu. At this time, seeing the Thunderhawk gunship group being shot down, the anxiety and panic on his face were almost overflowing. He shouted loudly at Wu Wu Pifu: "Run faster! Emma she..."
And then the next moment, the boss couldn't help but roar at the corner of the street.
Just ahead, Emma and a group of citizens were blocked at the corner of the street. A huge tank and more than ten small mechas rose from under the ground, accompanied by hundreds of fully armed soldiers, who started to deploy defenses on the spot, and at the same time, the tank's muzzle was aimed at Emma's crowd position.
"The Golden Throne is above, how could there be this thing here... Emma, run! Run!!"
And then the next moment, a ripple erupted beside the boss, his hands were empty, and a figure stood 100 meters in front of the Emperor's Bane's muzzle.
"Bang!"
The huge cannon roar exploded, landing on the chest of this suddenly appearing figure.
