Chapter 468

~7 min read 1,244 words

The terrain of the entire Dark Forest is higher in the south and lower in the north.

It is higher in the east and lower in the west.

In fact, a river flows all the way from Loki Forest, passes through the newly cultivated Holy Flame Forest, continues for over a thousand kilometers, then turns northward.

To the north lies an endless sea.

At the westernmost boundary of the Holy Flame Forest, Lomina, Princess Chenxi, and two other Seventh Rank elves were setting up barriers.

This barrier's function was simple—only to block the spread of dark matter—so its setup was exceptionally swift.

Although only Lomina and Princess Chenxi could set up the barrier, the other two Seventh Rank elves could handle basic tasks to increase their efficiency.

"Princess Chenxi, how far north have we cultivated?"

Lomina asked along the boundary line.

Princess Chenxi replied: "We've cultivated at least three thousand kilometers northward. Let's stop after another few hundred kilometers—two thousand plus kilometers wide and a few hundred long should be more than enough for us."

Lomina nodded and said: "Mm!"

"Queen, there's activity to the north—we've seen the sea!"

At that moment, a winged elf flew in to report.

Winged elves no longer handled cultivation; they were now exclusively tasked with aerial surveillance.

In fact, over the past month, another winged elf tribe had joined the Holy Flame Forest.

This winged elf tribe came from other forests on the Continent of Gods; they had originally lived in a hidden small forest, but that forest was at constant risk of exposure.

After receiving Princess Chenxi's invitation—sent through the elves' special means—they first sent a few individuals to fly over and inspect the situation.

That had been a month ago.

Upon seeing how rapidly the Holy Flame Forest was being cultivated, these scouting winged elves were even more astonished than the elves who had joined later!

These scouting winged elves immediately sent magical secret messages reporting the situation, and the entire winged elf tribe—numbering only two to three thousand—mobilized at once, taking nearly twenty days to fly to the Holy Flame Forest.

They had crossed many human nations.

Winged elves' long-distance flight speed wasn't particularly fast, but even with rest, they could still cover over a thousand kilometers per day—demonstrating just how vast the Continent of Gods was!

More winged elves later joined the surveillance force.

Many winged elves now guarded the north and west; some powerful ones even flew farther north to patrol!

"Let's go take a look."

Lomina and Princess Chenxi flew into the sky together, following the winged elf northward.

Not long after, they reached the vicinity of the elves' cultivation line.

Further north, the Dark Forest still stretched endlessly.

But after flying about two hundred kilometers north, Lomina and Princess Chenxi saw vast stretches of sea.

"Huh? How did we reach the sea so quickly?"

Lomina murmured in surprise.

"Someone has flown to the northern edge of Loki Forest—there was no sea two thousand kilometers north of it."

Lomina added; this was precisely what puzzled her.

But as they drew closer, Lomina understood the reason.

This must be a sea bay!

This bay was enormous.

Remember, this location was already over two thousand kilometers from the western boundary of Loki Forest.

Then the sea bulged out from north of Loki Forest toward the Dark Forest in a semicircle!

Forming a massive bay.

The position where Lomina and Princess Chenxi now stood was at the very apex of this sea bay.

If viewed not from the sea but from the land, one could see a huge indentation in the otherwise continuous landmass.

The indented region extended for thousands of kilometers.

This bay was indeed a super sea bay!

"Mother, look."

Princess Chenxi extended her hand, pointing to the area of the Dark Forest near the sea.

There stood nothing but sheer cliffs!

In the sea, numerous towering stone pillars rose up.

The dark matter of the Dark Forest had not extended into the sea.

It couldn't extend—the sea winds constantly battered the Dark Forest; the sea's essence clashed with the dark matter, achieving perfect balance at its outer edge.

Thus, the Dark Forest was perfectly separated.

On the outer cliffs, there were countless caves, within which many winged creatures—appearing human but naked except for essential coverings—flew back and forth.

These creatures occasionally flew into the sea, reached out a hand, and easily scooped up vast quantities of fish.

Some even flew to the edge of the Dark Forest to harvest dark matter.

"Ah, are these winged humans?"

Princess Chenxi asked.

Because these creatures looked human but clearly differed from humans.

The greatest difference was that they radiated an eerie aura throughout their entire bodies.

If listened to closely, one could hear beautiful songs carried on the sea wind.

These songs used a language other than the Common Tongue; they carried a mysterious feeling—mysterious and eerie, yet undeniably beautiful, so that upon hearing them, one couldn't help but keep listening.

But if an ordinary human—not a powerful elf—heard these songs here, they would be instantly enchanted.

This enchantment is more terrifying than illusion magic, and far harder to break free from.

"These are sirens."

Lomina looked at the suspected winged beings and said.

"Sirens live on the sea; their numbers are few, but they also exist in several vast inland seas of the Divine Lands. They are the nightmare of passing ships—yet here, there are so many of them."

Lomina added further.

"So these are sirens!"

Princess Chenxi had heard of sirens before, but she had never seen one.

Lomina's knowledge was clearly far greater.

During her twenty years in the underground city, she studied many continental creatures, abyssal beings, and even some dark entities.

To find a way to break the curse, Lomina had read enough books to fill an entire study!

Lomina nodded and said: "Sirens aren't dark entities—they shouldn't come to the Dark Forest, and they likely have little aggression toward the elf race. But to prevent other sea creatures from surging up, tell them to stop cultivation there. Leave a two-hundred-kilometer buffer zone; if we ever need to access the sea, we can open a passage later."

Princess Chenxi said: "Agreed!"

She then sent word through the winged elves beside her to the elves currently cultivating, ordering them to cease expansion northward.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the strait, the sirens on the cliff had noticed them.

Several sirens flapped their wings and rose into the sky.

"Come, let's go over."

Lomina said.

The two women flew together toward the sirens.

As the distance closed, Princess Chenxi saw more details.

For instance, all the sirens were female—no males among them.

Perhaps long-term life at sea had made their skin extremely pale—very pale.

Not only pale, but also remarkably smooth.

Moreover, their physiques were generally excellent, especially their long, straight legs, nearly free of fat.

This likely relates to their flight method.

When flying, they prefer to ride the wind; centuries of such flight have naturally sculpted their bodies into exceptional perfection by the wind.

Yet on the continent, they are feared evil creatures.

Especially in the continent's several vast inland seas.

Their clothing is minimal, but vital areas are well-covered.

The fabric they wear is, of course, not ordinary cloth—like the elves', it is woven from magical extracts derived from plants.

Perhaps precisely because their skin is so pale, contrasted against the dark forest below, they appear truly eerie.
