Chapter 350: Su Monong as the Third Party
Su Monong hooked her finger at him, motioning Lin Yuan to come to the dining table.
"Are you hungry? Come, sis will feed you steak." Su Monong said, lightly reaching out…
"Eat, the steak is tender." Su Monong said teasingly.
Lin Yuan hesitated at first; this… Director Su is playing too fancy.
But under Su Monong's order, Lin Yuan still took a light bite.
At that moment, the sweetness melted into his mouth.
It's simply the most delicious food in the world.
Su Monong watched Lin Yuan swallow the steak, lightly brushing his lips, her tone languid: "Don't just focus on eating, sis has serious business to tell you—the corrupt embezzlement in the Wind Control Department is far worse than it looks on the surface; now that you've become deputy director, it's the perfect chance to help me get to the bottom of it."
Her foot suddenly stopped at Lin Yuan's chin, her eyes sharpening: "Especially Lu Chengyu—he's close to Wang Lei, even spoke up for him before; he's the biggest suspect. If we can catch his handle, we can take him down directly."
After a pause, Su Monong leaned in closer, her warm breath brushing Lin Yuan's ear: "Root out all the worms in the Wind Control Department; once it's done, sis will find a chance to put you in charge of the department, and then the whole department will answer to you."
Lin Yuan still had the steak's aftertaste in his mouth; hearing Su Monong's words, his Adam's apple bobbed slightly as he nodded solemnly: "Yes, Director Su."
Su Monong sat back down in her chair, her fingertip lightly wiping the residue at the corner of her lips, her tone a bit casual.
"Now that you're deputy director of the Wind Control Department, you don't have to be my driver anymore, nor do you have to drive me to and from work every day."
Lin Yuan jerked his head up, eyes full of surprise, instinctively asking: "Ah? Then how will you get to and from work? You've always been unwilling to drive yourself, haven't you?"
Su Monong lifted her red wine glass, took a sip, her gaze falling on the wine in the glass, and spoke offhandedly.
"That's simple enough—I'll just hire a male driver; besides, the company isn't short on that budget."
Lin Yuan hardly hesitated, furrowed his brow, shook his head directly, his voice firm and unquestionable.
"No."
Su Monong set down her wine glass, lifted her eyes to Lin Yuan, the corners of her eyes curling into a sly smile—she had clearly seen through his thoughts.
"What? I'll find a more handsome male driver to keep me company on my commute—wouldn't that be better?"
Lin Yuan clenched his fist, his eyes showing a hint of urgency, still stubbornly shaking his head.
"I won't agree."
Su Monong couldn't help laughing, leaned forward slightly, and tapped Lin Yuan's forehead lightly with her fingertip, her tone affectionate yet teasing.
"You little brat, are you jealous?"
She withdrew her hand, her fingertip sliding down the edge of Lin Yuan's shirt collar, her voice softening, full of tenderness.
"Sis loves you, be good."
Seeing Lin Yuan still tense-faced, Su Monong's smile deepened; she reached out and ruffled his hair.
"Well then, since you won't agree, you'll just keep being my driver, picking me up and dropping me off every day."
She leaned close to Lin Yuan and whispered softly into his ear, her breath warm.
"Sis loves you; as long as you're with me, I'll feel at ease."
Su Monong picked up the red wine glass on the table, her fingertips lightly gripping the stem and giving it a gentle swirl, the crimson wine leaving delicate tears on the glass; she lifted her eyes to Lin Yuan, a soft, alluring glow in the corners: "Come, sis will feed you some wine."
As soon as she finished speaking, she tilted her head back and took a sip of red wine, her lips glistening with crystal-clear wine droplets, shining with a moist luster.
She leaned in toward Lin Yuan, one hand lightly supporting the back of his neck, slowly bringing her wine-scented lips to his, letting the wine held in her mouth trickle slowly to his lips.
Lin Yuan's heart instantly raced; the scent of Su Monong's perfume and the mellow aroma of red wine lingered at his nostrils, the warm touch of their lips meeting nearly made him lose himself.
Just as the wine was about to slide down Lin Yuan's throat, a sudden, urgent phone ringtone burst from his pocket, shattering the ambiguous atmosphere in the private room.
Lin Yuan stiffened all over, instinctively wanting to push Su Monong away to grab his phone, but she pressed down on his shoulder.
Su Monong slowly withdrew, using her fingertip to wipe the wine stain from the corner of her lips, her eyes gleaming with amusement: "Let's see who's calling."
Lin Yuan pulled out his phone; the screen flashed "Sun Weiwei" in three characters, his brows slightly furrowed—he obviously didn't want to take the call now, his finger hovering over the reject button, hesitating to press it.
Seeing his hesitation, Su Monong reached out and lightly tapped the back of his hand, her tone firm and unquestionable: "Answer it, see what she wants from you."
Lin Yuan took a deep breath, pressed the answer button, and held the device to his ear.
From the other end came Sun Weiwei's voice, deliberately lowered and mysterious: "Lin Yuan, there's an important matter I need to discuss with you—come over now."
Lin Yuan furrowed his brows tightly, glanced instinctively at Su Monong beside him, and asked: "General Manager Sun, what is it? Could you at least tell me what it's about?"
Sun Weiwei refused to budge, her tone vague yet resolute: "The details can wait until you arrive; this needs to be said in person to be clear—hurry over."
Lin Yuan pressed his lips together, mentally calculating a refusal, about to say "I'm not free right now," when Su Monong suddenly nudged his arm lightly with her elbow.
Su Monong gave him a look, her fingertip silently pointing toward the phone, signaling him to accept.
Lin Yuan understood her meaning, so he replied to the caller: "Okay, I got it, I'm on my way now."
After hanging up, Su Monong immediately rose, grabbed her bag, and hurried toward the restaurant exit: "Come on, I'm going with you—I'll hide in the back seat of the Mercedes-Benz to see what tricks she's up to."
Lin Yuan stared for a moment, about to tell her it wasn't necessary to go to such trouble, but Su Monong had already opened the rear door of the Mercedes-Benz, bent down and slipped into the back seat, and casually pulled the shade beside the seat, leaving only a narrow slit to observe the outside.
A few seconds later, Lin Yuan's phone received a text from Sun Weiwei with an address; the note read "Sun Family Manor"—clearly her own villa.
Lin Yuan entered the address into the navigation, walked around to the driver's side, opened the door and sat down, his fingers resting on the steering wheel as he paused.
He glanced at Su Monong in the rearview mirror; she was leaning against the seatback, her fingertips lightly rubbing the strap of her bag, her eyes full of scrutiny.
Lin Yuan started the car, pressed the accelerator, and the vehicle slowly drove out of the restaurant parking lot, heading toward Sun Weiwei's villa.
…
Twenty minutes later, the Mercedes-Benz stopped outside Sun Weiwei's villa.
Not long after, the villa's gate creaked open, and Sun Weiwei walked out.
She wasn't wearing daytime formal attire; instead, she had changed into a misty-blue silk nightgown, its body flowing with a soft sheen, the neckline a shallow V curve, revealing a small patch of fair collarbone, the hem just reaching her knees—when she moved, the skirt's edge swayed lightly, like crushed moonlight pressed against her.
On her feet were a pair of pink slippers, her ankles slender and fair, her toes painted with a light pink polish.
The night breeze lifted the stray hairs at her temples, the strands brushing her cheeks, softening her naturally cool features with a touch of gentleness, yet the aloofness in her gaze lent her an air of distant beauty.
"It's not convenient to talk at home; my dad's in the living room." Sun Weiwei walked to the passenger side, her voice still as cold as before, with no softening from the nightgown, and after speaking she reached out to pull the car door.
Lin Yuan's heart leapt to his throat, he fumbled trying to stop her: "Wait, what if—" but before he could finish, Sun Weiwei had already opened the door, bent down and slipped into the passenger seat, the silk nightgown brushing the seat with a faint rustle.
Lin Yuan broke out in a cold sweat from fright!
It's over!
Su Monong was still sitting in the back seat of the Mercedes-Benz!
