Chapter 21: Welcome to Fairy Tail!
“My name is Laqi Olieta, and I specialize in Wood Shaping Magic.”
Laqi introduced herself; she was only ten years old, the same age as Cana and the others, and had already set out on her own at such a young age.
After Mo En brought her into the Fairy Tail guild, Laqi completed her registration quickly and became a member—everything was remarkably simple, largely due to her young age.
Of course, Laqi was currently only a probationary member; whether she would be officially confirmed would depend on her future evaluation.
She did not yet bear the magic seal symbolizing Fairy Tail.
“Alright, Laqi, later Ero will take Itachi to the dorms—just follow her. By the way, I’m Mo En, Mo En Dorea.”
Mo En nodded and handed the girl with glasses over to Ero beside him.
Mo En’s “Ero sister” made Ero delighted; she wore light clothing, had sun-kissed skin, a graceful figure, clearly a natural dancer—and indeed, she was Fairy Tail’s first dancer, a dream woman to many in the guild.
“Come with me, little Laqi.”
Ero first playfully pinched Mo En’s cheek, then smiled and reached out to Laqi, taking the girl’s luggage.
“Wooooooh~~~!”
Seeing Ero’s affectionate gesture, the older men in the guild groaned enviously, wishing it were them being pinched.
“Crack!”
Ma Kaou, overexcited and clapping, accidentally broke a long bench—this was common in Fairy Tail; these rough men were always careless, and after drinking, they destroyed even more guild property.
Ma Kaou, Wa Kaba, and the others were used to it; no one cared about the broken bench—they kept laughing and joking, none understanding why these married men were so worked up, since Ero wouldn’t pay them any attention anyway.
“Crack!”
Wa Kaba, equally excited, snapped off another table corner.
“Uncle Ma Kaou! Uncle Wa Kaba! Don’t randomly destroy guild property!”
Seeing the older men still causing chaos, Mo En’s eyelids twitched—he shouted a warning.
Mo En despised such reckless destruction of guild property; as someone who aimed to become guild master, his sense of ownership was strong—these were all guild assets!
“What’s the big deal, Mo En? We’ll pay for it anyway! Itachi’re starting to boss around the uncles now? Really aiming to be master, huh?”
Ma Kaou paid no mind to Mo En’s warning and teased him instead; his words made everyone laugh.
“#!”
A “#” symbol appeared above Mo En’s head—when Itachi’re this close, it’s inevitable. These uncles had raised him since childhood and always looked out for him; it was hard to be serious with them.
“These guys…”
Mo En sighed helplessly; the uncles were all like children, none of them reliable, and together they were nothing but chaos.
But then again, this was probably the truest form of Fairy Tail—undefined, unbound, each person forging their own magical path.
The meaning of “Fairy Tail” is eternal unknown, eternal adventure.
Of course, this was also why the guild had both high praise and high criticism—too much freedom easily led to trouble.
The commotion here fascinated the new recruit Laqi; she could feel the atmosphere—the warmth of a family.
This was a guild like a harmonious extended family; its members didn’t just see each other as coworkers, but as partners bound by unconditional trust, treating one another like family.
“Mo En, I can repair these furnishings.”
This atmosphere moved Laqi; she wanted to belong, to truly become a member, part of this family.
“Huh? Really?”
Hearing Laqi’s words, Mo En’s eyes lit up; he looked at her expectantly, waiting for her reply.
“Yes, I can restore them all to their original state!”
Under Mo En’s gaze, Laqi spoke confidently—she specialized in Wood Shaping Magic, capable not only of restoring damaged furniture but also of magically crafting new pieces.
“Then I’m counting on Itachi, Laqi.”
Mo En nodded, gesturing for her to demonstrate; the guild members fell silent and turned to her, their eyes filled with the same anticipation as Mo En’s.
This intense expectation weighed on Laqi, but with Mo En’s encouragement, she cast her spell.
“Hum!”
Magic surged; under the influence of Wood Shaping Magic, the broken bench reassembled itself, the table corner rejoined perfectly, and even decades of nicks and scratches were smoothed away!
When the magic ended, the entire guild hall was transformed—every wooden furnishing looked as if it had been reforged anew!
“.”
The guild fell silent; everyone stared at the hall, stunned.
Laqi nervously tugged at her sleeve, worried—why was no one speaking? Had she done poorly?
“Clap!”
As Laqi fretted, Mo En stepped before her, placed his hands on her shoulders, and leaned in, looking at her seriously.
“Laqi Olieta.”
Mo En spoke her full name, his tone grave.
“Eh? I’m here!”
Mo En’s demeanor made Laqi even more nervous; she hurriedly responded.
“From this moment on… Itachi’re officially confirmed!”
Just as Laqi thought she’d made a mistake, Mo En’s expression shifted abruptly—from seriousness to a bright smile. The close, radiant grin left her momentarily dazed, barely catching what he’d said.
“Ooooooh!!!”
“Laqi! Laqi! Laqi!”
As Mo En finished speaking, the previously silent guild erupted in noise—members cheered, shouting Laqi’s name, all grinning.
“Eh? Eh?!!”
Only now did Laqi realize what had happened; her face flushed crimson, overwhelmed and unsure how to react—she’d never experienced anything like this.
Dazed, Laqi was led by Mo En to the bar, dazedly chose the color of her magic seal, dazedly pressed it onto her body—all completed as simply as that.
“Welcome to Fairy Tail!”
Mo En smiled warmly at Laqi, while the background echoed with the guild’s cheers—clearly, everyone welcomed her joining.
