Chapter 29: I

~6 min read 1,064 words

“I can invite Itachi to visit our guild.”

Mo En spoke; proving it himself was the most troublesome thing—no matter how much he praised “Fairy Tail,” it was better to let the old man go there in person, to experience the family-like atmosphere firsthand.

Mo En believed the guild’s atmosphere would move everyone, because he firmly believed “Fairy Tail” was the best guild!

“Sorry, I can’t leave here.”

Robinlu shook his head, refusing the proposal.

“.”

Mo En was speechless; the old man had too many excuses—this wouldn’t work, that wouldn’t work—there was only one option left: find Jellal.

If all else failed, should he just expose the old man’s secret? Tell Wendy that all these people were phantoms of memory?

Mo En considered it in his mind, but ultimately did not act; after all, Robinlu’s reason for not letting Wendy leave was fundamentally his unwillingness to betray Jellal’s trust—even if his secret were revealed, he’d still hold firm.

“When did Jellal leave? Which direction did he go?”

Mo En did not hesitate, asking directly; he was going to find Jellal anyway, and once he found him, he could invite both to join the guild and complete the mission successfully, securing both rewards.

“He left not long ago—about three or four hours. He went south, down this road. If Itachi hurry, Itachi might catch up to him.”

Robinlu extended his hand, pointing toward the direction Jellal had taken.

“Did he head toward Croba?”

Mo En nodded, his mind already clear.

The direction Robinlu pointed was clearly toward Croba.

This dilapidated village was far from Croba; even on foot, three or four hours wouldn’t cover a third of the distance—and that was assuming Mo En’s pace.

In terms of physical condition, Mo En had absolute confidence; Jellal was no match for him. His iron body, forged through sweat, was no joke—even these past few days in the Vass Tree Sea, Mo En hadn’t skipped his daily training.

Mo En firmly believed one principle: sweat on your face during training means sweat on your enemy’s face afterward.

“Wendy, wait here for me. When I find Jellal and come back, I’ll take both of Itachi to Fairy Tail. There’s a kid in the guild named Natsu—he’s a dragon child like Itachi, and he’s also searching for the vanished dragons. I think Itachi two will have plenty to talk about.”

Before setting out to find Jellal, Mo En knelt before Wendy, gently stroking her head as he spoke softly.

He decided to play his last “Fire Dragon Natsu” card; it was pointless to keep it hidden now—better to reveal it and give Wendy another reason to come with him.

“Really?!”

This card, chosen as Mo En’s final move, had its reason—Wendy’s big eyes instantly lit up at the words.

“Of course it’s true. Wait patiently for me to return.”

Mo En smiled, lightly patted Wendy’s head, then rose decisively and left without further explanation.

“Big brother! I’ll wait for Itachi to come back!”

Watching Mo En’s figure rapidly disappear into the distance, Wendy cupped her hands to her mouth and shouted with all her strength.

Mo En, far away, did not turn back—only waved his hand in response.

“.”

Robinlu watched all this, shaking his head; he’d meant to help, so why did it feel like he was the villain?

Robinlu’s petty grievance aside, on the other side, Mo En’s search for Jellal was proceeding surprisingly smoothly.

After leaving the dilapidated village, Mo En quickly found Jellal’s trail—mainly because it was impossible to miss.

Far on the horizon, intense magical energy surged across a vast area; the sky was choked with dark, oppressive clouds, as if the world’s end had come.

From Mo En’s viewpoint, the sky there looked like a gaping hole, as if ready to swallow everything in existence.

The heavy magical pressure, even from afar, induced unease—a sense of dread. This was no ordinary spell.

The reason this phenomenon was linked to Jellal was because Mo En sensed Jellal’s magical aura—no, it was the aura of Jellal’s wand.

Jellal was casting a spell, fighting against the anomaly in the sky!

Mo En did not hesitate—he rushed toward the source of the magical disturbance. He was genuinely surprised: Jellal’s wand seemed far more powerful than he’d thought.

The magical energy emitted by the wand was unlike anything a mere magical artifact should possess—it was immense, and the array it formed was reversing the terrifying anomaly in the sky, which was why Mo En had noticed it from so far away.

Logically, a magic crystal storing so much energy should be unstable—impossible to use in a magical device.

“Strange.”

Mo En thought as he pushed through thick underbrush, swiftly crossing the forest until he reached Jellal’s location.

It was a cliffside; Jellal’s slender, unimposing figure stood at the edge, raising his wand high.

A complex magical array spread from beneath his feet, extending outward; atop the wand, a smaller array pulsed with swirling magic, surging toward the “great hole” in the sky.

“What kind of spell is this? I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Mo En stared at the anomaly, his expression grim. Now that he stood beneath its influence, the physical and psychological pressure intensified—his own magic surged erratically. This spell felt extremely dangerous.

Mo En’s arrival drew Jellal’s attention.

“Mo En? What are Itachi doing here?! It’s dangerous! Leave now!”

Jellal strained to hold the wand aloft, maintaining the array, his face twisted with exertion as he shouted at Mo En.

No nonsense. How can I help?

Mo En’s face was serious; he ignored Jellal’s order to leave and asked directly. He was already here—he had to help. This spell was too dangerous to leave Jellal alone with.

“Mo En! This spell is deadly—if Itachi fail, Itachi’ll die! This is my own matter—I don’t want to drag anyone else into it!”

Jellal gritted his teeth, still urging Mo En to leave; he had no guarantee he could reverse the spell.

“Your own matter? No, this isn’t just your matter.”

Before Mo En could speak, a familiar voice suddenly came from behind him—he spun around instantly.

“Grandpa Macao?! What are Itachi doing here?!”

Seeing the figure, Mo En’s eyes widened; the stern little old man was none other than his grandfather, Macao.
