Chapter 41: What Do Itachi Mean, the Number One Guild of Fiore?
“This Iron Forest must be exterminated!”
On the train to Magnolia, upon learning that Mo En had been attacked by members of the Iron Forest guild, Makarov was furious.
This old man had an extremely protective nature, so he immediately labeled the Iron Forest guild as a target for extermination.
Although Mo En had suffered no harm at all—and had even made some extra money—Makarov still insisted on doing this.
“They must learn that no one can lay a hand on a member of Fairy Tail!”
Makarov gritted his teeth; he hadn’t acted in two years, and some people had clearly begun to take them for granted!
In his youth, Makarov had a fiery temper, but as he aged, he gradually became more benevolent—though that kindness extended only to the members of Fairy Tail.
Against enemies, against those who harbored ill will toward Fairy Tail, Makarov would make them know fear.
“It seems we’re thinking along the same lines.”
Mo En smiled and shook the dossier on the Iron Forest in his hand.
Exterminating the Iron Forest would not only fulfill the mission of defeating the Death God Elygor, but also teach dark guilds a lesson: before they strike again, they should do their homework—Fairy Tail members are not theirs to touch!
On this point, Mo En and Makarov shared the same belief: they must make one thing clear to those dark guilds.
If they dare so much as pluck a single hair from a Fairy Tail member, their entire guild will face annihilation!
According to the tropes of traditional xianxia novels, Fairy Tail is the number one sect in the Fiore Kingdom—when the disciple of the top sect gets beaten on an outing, it’s obvious the elder will come crashing down.
But Fairy Tail doesn’t play by the rules—it goes straight for the oldest. Makarov, the guild master, would strike first, crushing anyone who dared lay a hand on a Fairy Tail member.
Makarov is among the top ten strongest on the entire continent! In such a situation, no matter who it is, they’ll lose a layer of skin.
For the Iron Forest, newly risen to fame, this was like stepping out of the Xinshoucun and immediately facing the final boss.
“Good! First, I’ll take Itachi back to the guild, then I’ll storm their door!”
Seeing the dossier on the Iron Forest in Mo En’s hand, Makarov immediately spoke, leapt off his seat, and began rolling up his sleeves—he was clearly ready for a big fight.
Iron Forest? Who the hell are they? Daring to pick a fight with Fairy Tail? They must be crushed with a heavy fist!
“We have to wait a bit longer—the Magic Council hasn’t yet determined the Iron Forest’s guild location, but with these four captives, they’ll get the answer soon.”
Mo En soothed the agitated Grandpa Makarov; from his grandfather’s demeanor, he looked ready to single-handedly overturn the Iron Forest guild on the spot.
Grandpa Makarov could easily do it—but Mo En couldn’t let him. Elygor, the Iron Forest’s guild master, was Mo En’s prey; he couldn’t let Grandpa Makarov steal the kill.
“Then let them enjoy a little more freedom.”
Upon hearing they didn’t know the location, Makarov sat back down.
Wendy, beside him, blinked her big eyes, watching the interaction between the old man and the young one.
She could feel the way they spoke of protecting the guild, of valuing the safety of their comrades.
This made Wendy grow even more eager—to join Fairy Tail, to become one of them.
Mystogan felt the same. From Grandpa Makarov alone, one could glimpse what kind of guild Fairy Tail was—it must be an incredibly warm place.
Amid Wendy and Mystogan’s anticipation, the train pulled into Magnolia Station, and the four of them stepped off.
As soon as they disembarked, Wendy and Mystogan felt the influence of Fairy Tail on this city.
Citizens of Magnolia passing through the station warmly greeted Makarov and chatted casually with Mo En.
They also glanced curiously at Wendy and Mystogan, two new faces—long accustomed to Fairy Tail’s habit of taking in orphaned, lonely children.
Amid this friendly atmosphere, the four arrived at the guild hall’s entrance.
Looking at the grand guild hall, at the words “Fairy Tail” and its emblem, Wendy’s eyes sparkled with anticipation—she was even a little nervous now.
“We’re finally home!”
Staring at the door, Mo En sighed. His journey had been long, and he’d spent all his time camping in the forest—he truly missed the guild’s meals and the softness of his bed. Home was truly the best.
Mo En shoved the door open hard; the guild’s noisy clamor burst out immediately.
“Whoa, who’s back?”
“Isn’t this our Mo En, who just returned from his first long trip? How was the job?”
Seeing Mo En walk in, Ma Kaou and Waka Ba, two uncles, immediately teased him, their eyes smiling.
Everyone was glad to see Mo En return safely; they weren’t really worried about his safety.
Especially Ma Kaou and Waka Ba—having been in the guild for over a decade—they understood Grandpa Makarov’s habits well.
As soon as Mo En left, Makarov vanished too—obviously to follow secretly. No need to doubt it.
“Why are Itachi two uncles always here? Don’t Itachi need to work and earn money? Just drinking in the guild every day.”
Mo En rolled his eyes and teased the two uncles, then stepped aside to let Mystogan and Wendy enter.
“Let’s welcome our two new members to Fairy Tail!”
Grandpa Makarov entered right behind them, leapt onto a table, and shouted to the crowd.
Everyone turned to look at Wendy and Mystogan.
“Wow! Such a cute little girl!”
Seeing Wendy, the guild erupted.
Men and women alike gasped, calling her adorable over and over, enthusiastically cheering.
Mystogan, however, had already bought a mask and hat on the way and covered himself completely.
Everyone assumed he was just shy, so they didn’t tease him.
“This is Wendy! This is Mystogan!”
Makarov pointed to Wendy, whose cheeks were flushed, then to Mystogan; the guild members enthusiastically cheered, chanting their names.
“Welcome to Fairy Tail!”
