Chapter 47: Crusade Against Iron Forest

~5 min read 941 words

For the dark guild “Iron Forest,” which had only recently gained fame, today was destined to be recorded in its guild history.

The guild’s records would one day state:

“The Dark Guild Iron Forest was destroyed on February 25, X778.”

“Destroyer: Fairy Tail.”

“Crack!”

A bolt of golden lightning struck a dark mage, surging through his body and leaving him charred inside and out.

Lightning crackled around Laxus as he stepped forward, advancing toward the dark mages as if walking through an empty land.

This “Thunder Dragon”’s power was truly extraordinary; there was a hundred percent chance he would pass this S-Class trial—no exaggeration.

Even without using “Thunder Dragon Slayer Magic,” merely relying on “Elemental Magic: Lightning,” Laxus could match the strength of an S-Class mage.

As he aged, Laxus’s magical talent grew more pronounced, and as his fusion with the Dragon Slayer Crystal deepened, his physical constitution became increasingly formidable.

This man’s power was steadily maturing, climbing toward its peak.

These incompetent dark mages of “Iron Forest” were nothing but trash in the face of his furious strength.

“Zzzzt!”

Wild currents surged as Laxus led the charge, electrocuting a group of enemies at once.

The other Fairy Tail mages also refused to be outdone, each unleashing their unique skills against the Iron Forest dark mages—the battle was overwhelmingly one-sided.

Those middle-aged guys who spent their days drinking, smoking, and flipping through skimpy magazines didn’t seem reliable—but when they truly got serious, they all had real skill.

Uncle Ma Kaou wielded purple flame magic, burning the dark mages to screams and wails.

Ma Kaou had been on vacation, having just welcomed a son named Romeo, but upon hearing the summoning bell, he rushed over without hesitation and immediately joined the fight.

Uncle Wa Ka Ba fought shoulder to shoulder with Ma Kaou; always smoking, his magic was smoke-based—each smoke fist he launched easily knocked enemies flying.

Beside them stood a young man whose body was grotesquely fat but whose limbs were unnaturally slender, holding a paintbrush and palette.

As he painted several boars onto his own body, the boars came alive, leaping off him and charging headlong into the dark mages.

This was Lidas, using Painting Magic.

Others included muscular Joey, who could turn his right arm into an iron dog, and strong, tough Gengi—all possessed extraordinary techniques.

Sixteen-year-old Joey didn’t look his age; his muscles were absurdly exaggerated, his punches landed with brutal force, and he suited Mo En’s taste perfectly—they often trained together, though mostly Joey took the beating alone.

“Boom!”

Mo En swung a punch that sent a dark mage flying—they had already stormed into the Iron Forest guild hall.

This dark guild was built deep in a remote, desolate forest, so far off the map they’d had trouble finding it.

Yet the guild hall itself was surprisingly spacious—perhaps because of its isolation, they’d built it however they pleased.

“Hummm!”

As the Fairy Tail group entered the hall, a fierce magical wind howled toward them.

A middle-aged man leapt forward, calm and composed, thrusting both hands forward to erect a massive magical barrier.

“Boom! Boom! Boom!”

The magical gale slammed into the barrier; the man held firm, his expression growing increasingly serious.

“Reinhardt, Itachi okay? Can’t even hold off a kid?”

Seeing this, Ma Kaou, Wa Ka Ba, and others laughed and teased the man holding the barrier—they were relaxed, treating Iron Forest as no threat.

It wasn’t arrogance; Iron Forest simply hadn’t posed any real pressure—they’d been crushed effortlessly.

Master Makarov hadn’t moved yet, and Gildarts hadn’t come—he’d left again shortly after Mo En’s birthday, so he missed this raid.

Fairy Tail hadn’t even used their full strength, yet Iron Forest had already collapsed—only its guild master remained resisting.

“Boom!”

Reinhardt’s barrier shattered under the wind’s force, and the man himself was blown backward by the magical gale.

Mo En leapt forward and steadied Reinhardt’s form.

“Uncle, leave this guy to me!”

Mo En spoke, his gaze lifting upward—Eli Gao, the young guild master of Iron Forest, hovered above them.

Wind magic swirled around the man as he stood atop a massive scythe, floating effortlessly in midair, utterly flamboyant.

Eli Gao was young, under thirty, with black tattoos beneath his eyes, extravagant silver-white hair, bandages wrapped around his hands, full-body tattoos across his bare torso, a robe resembling a skirt, and sandals on his feet—his outfit was wildly ostentatious.

“Be careful, Mo En—Eli Gao is no weakling!”

Reinhardt wasn’t injured, but he warned Mo En seriously, without trying to stop him.

Though Mo En was the youngest mage present, everyone in Fairy Tail knew better than to underestimate him.

They’d all seen Mo En’s efforts and growth—especially over the past half-year, when he’d completed numerous monster-hunting missions swiftly and flawlessly, proving his strength beyond doubt. Age wasn’t an issue.

“Why should Itachi handle him?”

While others had no intention of competing with Mo En, Laxus was different—he insisted on stepping forward to claim the fight.

“Crack!”

Golden lightning struck straight down at the floating Eli Gao.

“I’ve had it with this guy! Let me teach him a lesson!”

Laxus, utterly dishonorable, struck first—this was classic boss-pulling, expertly stealing the target.

Eli Gao swiftly dodged, wind magic propelling him out of the lightning’s path.

The future “Death God” of the dark guild now had a face as dark as coal, his eyes filled with murderous intent.

For Laxus and Mo En, both vying to fight him, he wanted to carve them into a thousand pieces—these two bratty kids dared to ignore him completely!
