Chapter 638: 2020 FIFA Best Men's Player, Tang Ye!

Sports Weekly front-page headline: The 2020 FIFA Best Men's Player award ceremony will be held on December 17, conducted via video conference.

"Among the three finalists, only the winner is required to appear in person in Switzerland; the other two finalists will witness the announcement via video call."

According to Sports Weekly, apart from FIFA and the winner himself, no one else currently knows the true outcome of the award.

In other words, even if you are one of the finalists and are told to attend the video conference, you only know that you did not win; as for which of the other two is the winner, you remain unaware.

Compared to the Ballon d'Or, the confidentiality measures for the FIFA Best Men's Player award are stricter.

【Messi probably didn't win; he'll be starting in the next match against Real Madrid.】

【Stop guessing; it's definitely my Tang Tang Qiuwang's. If it's not my Tang Tang Qiuwang, then FIFA can be blacklisted. They didn't give him the Ballon d'Or, and now that the FIFA Best has reached the final stage, refusing to give it to him would be pure targeting, right?】

【Poor Lewy; actually, I quite favored Lewy to win the FIFA Best Men's Player award once.】

【Still talking about Lewy? Even if Messi and Ronaldo came, it wouldn't matter. When the 2019 Ballon d'Or results were announced, the era of Messi and Ronaldo had already ended!】

Everyone says Modric's 2018 Ballon d'Or was controversial and stole it from Cristiano Ronaldo; let's set that aside for now.

Surely the 2019 Ballon d'Or wasn't controversial, right?

Even combined, Messi and Ronaldo's votes couldn't surpass Tang Ye's; how can they possibly continue the so-called "era of Messi and Ronaldo"?

This applies especially to fans who only started watching football around 2017 or 2018, particularly those who began following the sport during the 2018 Russia World Cup.

What Jurassic Park? Never heard of it.

I only know GG Bond!

Dinosaurs went extinct long ago; only GG Bond endures forever!

【FIFA TV】

Today is the day of the FIFA Best Men's Player award ceremony; Tang Ye, accompanied by his assistant, arrived at the FIFA headquarters in Switzerland.

The auditorium felt somewhat quiet; below, the guest seats held only a dozen or so FIFA staff members.

Tang Ye sat down on the chair on stage.

Three video calls were connected simultaneously: Lewy on the left, Messi on the right, and Tang Ye, present on-site, in the center.

However, because the backgrounds behind all three individuals had been specially arranged, viewing this scene did not allow one to determine who was actually present on-site.

Was it Tang Ye, Messi? Or... Lewy?

"This is FIFA TV; first and foremost, we must thank the fans watching the television broadcast. Due to the terrible COVID-19 pandemic, this year's FIFA Best Men's Player award ceremony has been forced to take place via video conference."

"Nevertheless, we have still witnessed the enthusiasm of fans from all over the world, jointly observing the birth of the 2020 FIFA Best Men's Player."

The female host, holding a microphone, stated: "This award recognizes the football player with the most outstanding performance in 2020. With the Ballon d'Or suspended, the FIFA Best Men's Player becomes the only award in 2020 involving FIFA that represents the highest individual honor for a football player!"

As the host spoke incessantly, comments continuously scrolled across the live stream on the official FIFA website.

【Messi Messi!】

【Give it to Lewy.】

【TY! Long live TY! Don't rig this, or we'll start spraying hate.】

【Messi Messi Messi!】

【Ronaldo!】

Fans really know how to stir things up; knowing full well that Cristiano Ronaldo wasn't on the finalist list, they still posted his name in the live chat.

Soon, in the main frame, FIFA President Infantino slowly walked out carrying a silver trophy, raising his hand to greet the camera.

The camera focused entirely on the trophy and Infantino's face, making it impossible to see the surrounding environment.

Among Tang Ye, Lewy, and Messi, exactly who was present on-site?

The camera suddenly zoomed out; Tang Ye stood up from his chair and accepted the trophy handed to him by Infantino.

The answer was revealed!

"The winner of the 2020 FIFA Best Men's Player award is Tang Ye!"

"Thank you."

Tang Ye shook hands with Infantino.

Due to special regulations, hugging was not permitted at the award ceremony, and Tang Ye was required to maintain a certain distance from Infantino.

Clap clap clap clap!

The applause came from Infantino on-site, as well as from Lewy and Messi participating via video conference.

Although they hadn't been notified in advance, both Lewy and Messi actually had a clear idea in their hearts regarding who the ultimate winner would be.

Premier League champion plus Champions League champion, and Best Player of the Season in both the league and the Champions League; such achievements could be described as unbeatable.

Let alone this year; if you placed Tang Ye back at the very beginning of the era of Messi and Ronaldo, the FIFA Best Men's Player award would most likely have been his as well.

"I have just one sentence to say."

Infantino looked at the camera and raised one finger: "Fully deserved!"

After speaking, Infantino violated the rules by patting Tang Ye on the shoulder.

From the smile on the FIFA President's face, it was evident that he was extremely happy.

One didn't need to think too hard to realize that Infantino would always stand on Tang Ye's side.

Because Tang Ye was FIFA's best way to open up the Chinese market.

And simultaneously, almost the only way.

【FIFA!】

【Infantino, I love you to death, mwah~】

【Hahahahaha】

【Beyond doubt! It's just that when will my Tang Tang Qiuwang's stolen Ballon d'Or be returned? Can you award two next year, one Golden Ball for each hand?】

【A grand slam of individual honors, gg... bond!】

Although everyone guessed Tang Ye would win the award, and Tang Ye was indeed the favorite with the highest odds for this year's World Player of the Year.

There is still a huge difference between having the highest odds and the official announcement of winning.

The silver World Player of the Year trophy now belongs to Tang Ye!

"Haha, Tom!"

Haaland hugged Tang Ye, who had just returned to the base, followed by Bellingham and Reus.

The first World Player of the Year in Borussia Dortmund's club history.

Well, although he is a loaned player, money was paid for him, so one way or another, he counts as one of Dortmund's own!

No more nonsense, Dortmund is simply awesome!

"Haha, come, here you go."

Tang Ye took the trophy out of his backpack and handed it to Haaland.

Seeing the World Player of the Year trophy, Haaland's mouth opened slightly and his eyes filled with brightness, just like Rodri had when he saw the Ballon d'Or trophy before.

One of the highest individual honors in football!

"This trophy is very heavy."

Haaland exclaimed.

"It is a bit heavy, slightly heavier than the Ballon d'Or. Do you want to hold the Ballon d'Or?"

Tang Ye laughed heartily: "But the Ballon d'Or trophy isn't with me right now; I'll bring it back later to show you."

"Amazing..."
