Chapter 163: Zhang Guafu Borrows Money at Midnight

~7 min read 1,258 words

Pearls are pearls, why go on about pearl beads? I know a pearl seller; I'll take you to see them later, whether you buy or not is none of my concern.

Fine, whether you buy or not, I'll treat you to a meal.

No need for a meal, drinking is what counts.

Okay, okay.

After hanging up, Ye Cheng originally wanted to find a nice box to hold the pearl beads, but after searching a while he had no proper box at home, so he ended up using a cigarette box.

To show their value, Ye Cheng stuffed a few napkins inside to prevent them from being damaged.

After packing it, Ye Cheng gave it a shake; it was fine, so he'll just keep it in his pocket tomorrow.

He carefully placed the cigarette box, then after playing on the computer for a while he went to bed early.

Just as he lay down, half-asleep, Ye Cheng felt a soft body crawl into his quilt, trembling as it clung to him.

He jolted awake, shoved the person beside him aside, and shouted, 'Who?'

'Lao Er, it's me,' a slightly panicked voice said.

Upon hearing it, Ye Cheng recognized the familiar voice: 'Aunt Zhang?'

He turned on the light and saw it was indeed Aunt Zhang, wearing a coarse cloth pajama, half undone, hair disheveled, only underwear underneath, revealing two snow-white thighs as she lay on his bed.

The sight startled Ye Cheng, making him jump out of bed; looking around, he confirmed it was indeed his own home.

'Not, Aunt, what are you doing?' Ye Cheng fumbled to pull up his pants, thinking that if anyone saw this, even jumping into the Huang He wouldn't wash it clean.

Although Zhang Guafu wasn't particularly beautiful, as a mature woman she still had the charm of a slightly older lady; with much of her body exposed, Ye Cheng felt a bit embarrassed seeing so much, so he quickly turned away.

Seeing Ye Cheng like that, Zhang Guafu's face darkened, she bit her lip and said, 'Lao Er, don't worry, I won't tell anyone; I'm doing this willingly.'

'Not, Aunt, whether you're willing or not is your business; the problem is I'm not willing.' Ye Cheng could hardly speak; at times like this he didn't dare shout curses, he was mortified.

Hearing Ye Cheng say that, Zhang Guafu showed a hint of shame, yet she lightly got off the bed, walked to Ye Cheng's side, and gently embraced him from behind,

'Lao Er, help Aunt; Aunt has only herself, just take me with you, as long as you're willing to help.'

'Aunt may be older, but I know how to make you happy; just don't despise me.'

A different sensation came from behind; Ye Cheng's body stiffened, a familiar feeling, but after a brief pause he quickly broke free from Zhang Guafu's embrace, stepped two paces away, sat down, and looked at her with a solemn expression.

Being looked at so seriously by Ye Cheng, Zhang Guafu lost the courage to go further, merely standing there honestly without speaking.

Ye Cheng sighed and said softly, 'Aunt, do you have some trouble? I've noticed these past couple days that something's off with you; you can tell me anything, there's really no need for this.'

Zhang Guafu lifted her head and glanced at Ye Cheng; his gaze was clear, without any other tinge, and she knew he was speaking the truth.

She bit her lip and whispered, 'I need money.'

Ye Cheng nodded; sure enough it was about money—when she asked him for 300 yuan earlier today he had already sensed it.

'You don't usually dress up much, and you don't have many clothes; the money probably isn't for yourself, right?' Ye Cheng said.

Zhang Guafu raised her eyes, her gaze firm yet sorrowful: 'It's Xiao Liang; Xiao Liang needs surgery, costing 30,000 yuan.'

Ye Cheng furrowed his brows: '30,000 yuan? What kind of surgery costs that much?'

In these times, 30,000 yuan is no small sum; it must be a major operation.

Zhang Guafu showed a hint of helpless smile: 'Xiao Liang has congenital heart disease; the doctor said they need to implant a medium, saying it's imported material, and since it involves the heart, the surgery costs 30,000 yuan, plus later nutritional expenses and so on.'

Saying this, Zhang Guafu paused: 'He's been not quite right since childhood; I even went to plead with the Sea Dragon King, hoping he'd bless my little Liang, but now his condition keeps worsening, and the doctor says if he doesn't have the surgery soon he won't hold out.'

'Aunt doesn't have that much money, nor the ability, so I can only offer my body in exchange.' Zhang Guafu self-mockingly said, 'Rest assured, Aunt has cleaned herself up; as long as you're willing to lend me money, Aunt will be yours from now on, and I'll slowly repay you—you won't lose out.'

Hearing that, Ye Cheng pressed his lips; it's not about losing out, but it feels wrong.

Once the words were out, Zhang Guafu seemed to lose her inhibitions and moved to undo her clothing.

Seeing this, Ye Cheng thought, 'This is intolerable; she's trying to get me killed.'

'No, no, Aunt, you want to borrow money, right? I'll lend, I'll lend—won't that work?'

Upon hearing Ye Cheng agree to lend money, Zhang Guafu's hands didn't stop; in fact they sped up a bit,

'Lao Er, rest assured, Aunt will certainly satisfy you; as long as Xiao Liang gets better, Aunt will be yours for life.'

Seeing that they were about to be completely open with each other, Ye Cheng couldn't take it; he ran straight out of the courtyard, stood in the middle, and shouted, 'Aunt, if you keep this up, I won't lend you the money.'

Zhang Guafu stood inside the house, Ye Cheng stood in the middle of the courtyard.

Zhang Guafu froze, thinking Ye Cheng was just shy; after all, a young lad being a bit bashful is normal.

But seeing Ye Cheng like that, it didn't look like he was joking.

Watching Zhang Guafu finally stop her movements, Ye Cheng wiped his brow and thought, 'Goodness, dealing with a fight would be easier than this.'

'Aunt, put your clothes on first, please.' Ye Cheng said softly, while glancing outside the courtyard; it was still before 11 p. m., people were still about, and if anyone saw this, he'd not only get nothing but also bring a stench upon himself.

Zhang Guafu slowly put her clothes on; though she had only been wearing a thin nightgown, even dressed the atmosphere remained somewhat ambiguous.

'Aunt, look, it's the middle of the night; a lone man and woman alone isn't appropriate—why not come see me tomorrow daytime?'

Zhang Guafu tightened her clothes, gave Ye Cheng a somewhat resentful glance, and said, 'You just despise Aunt like that.'

Ye Cheng wore an expression of speechlessness, palms together pleading repeatedly, 'My Aunt, this isn't about liking or disliking; please just go back for now, tomorrow I'll go into the city to settle things and bring you the money—would that be all right?'

'Then it's settled; Aunt will be waiting at home tomorrow, you must come.'

Having said that, Zhang Guafu gave Ye Cheng a somewhat reluctant look and then walked out.

Ye Cheng let out a big sigh of relief, scaring Baobao half to death; he wasn't playing around like that.

But just now Zhang Guafu said why she needed to borrow money? How much?
