Chapter 206: Two-meter-long big earth dragon
Ye Cheng looked and thought that digging probably wouldn't work, so he could only try a different method.
He took out the rear fishing rod, attached a system bait, then he held the rod and had Xiao Hu push the hook into the earth dragon's burrow.
"Brother Cheng, will this work?" A Fu was covered head to toe in black mud, already exhausted.
"Whether it works or not is just a matter of a little twitch; you go up first, don't get swept away by the seawater."
To be honest, he wasn't really sure whether the earth dragon would eat this bait.
The system's bait is for him to fish; this earth dragon should be fine, he's even caught sea eels before.
But Ye Cheng had waited almost five minutes with no movement at all.
As the seawater was about to rise, Ye Cheng was about to give up when he felt the fishing rod in his hand suddenly move, the hook bitten by something.
He instinctively pulled outward, and an earth dragon was dragged out halfway, really hooked up.
"Brother Cheng, what a huge earth dragon!" A Fu was stunned.
Xiao Hu was similar, his eyes glazed over, "Brother, big catch."
Ye Cheng also didn't expect it to be a big catch; although he couldn't see its tail there, from the part exposed outside, it was very wide, its body definitely not short.
Ye Cheng also didn't expect such a big catch; he excitedly pulled upward, thinking it would be easy, but he didn't expect the earth dragon's strength to be considerable, actually pulling him so his foot slipped and he fell to the ground.
"Damn!"
Ye Cheng lay on the ground, pulling his face out of the mud.
"Damn it, I accidentally ended up eating dirt."
Fortunately the fishing rod didn't slip, that end still firmly hooked the earth dragon.
Xiao Hu quickly came over, helped Ye Cheng up, then picked up the fishing rod, and the two pulled together, gradually dragging the earth dragon up.
Just then, suddenly, a big wave came over.
In an instant it flooded the earth dragon's burrow; the earth dragon, getting water, instantly regained its strength and tried to burrow back in.
"A Fu, go up and pull him out," Ye Cheng shouted.
A Fu splashed through the seawater, grabbed the earth dragon with both hands, pulled hard upward, but couldn't pull it out—it was too long.
No choice, A Fu could only step back a few steps, then managed to pull it out of the burrow.
A two-meter-long big catch, as soon as it emerged, it coiled back, trying to wrap around A Fu.
Fortunately A Fu dodged quickly, swung his hands, threw it to the ground, then Ye Cheng and Xiao Hu pulled it toward the shore while reeling in the line.
This earth dragon was over two meters long, constantly writhing on the ground; without the hook, it would be hard to catch by hand alone.
Once pulled close, Xiao Hu and A Fu together threw it into the water tank, immediately causing a commotion inside.
"Brother, the seawater is rising, let's go quickly."
As Xiao Hu finished speaking, a big wave surged up, nearly sweeping the water tank back into the sea.
The three hastily grabbed the water tank and then headed back the way they came.
The seawater rose quickly; by the time the three reached the bend, they were basically swimming across, but fortunately the water tank had a lid, otherwise these earth dragons might have jumped out.
With difficulty they swam past, A Long was already waiting anxiously on the other side; seeing the three approach, he hurriedly paddled over to lend a hand, pulling the water tank over.
All four were basically soaking wet, they climbed straight out of the seawater and sat on the shore to rest.
After sitting a while, Ye Cheng looked at A Long and asked,
"How many jumping fish have we caught?"
"Well, Brother Cheng, I've got almost a bucket," A Long showed Ye Cheng the bucket.
Indeed, a bucket full of jumping fish, presumably they haven't stopped all this time.
The seawater level kept rising, and with the sea wind, it gave everyone a slight chill.
"Brother Cheng, let's head back, it's freezing." A Fu tightly crossed his arms, wet clothes plus the wind really made him uncomfortable.
Ye Cheng glanced at the sea surface; the wind had already died down, probably past its peak, and although the seawater kept surging upward, each wave was lower than the last.
"The tide will soon recede; do we have a fishing net, even a torn one will do." Ye Cheng suddenly said.
"Ah, brother, what are you planning to do?"
"Yeah, Brother Cheng, planning to cast a net?"
Ye Cheng pointed at the jumping fish leaping on the tide, "These jumping fish shouldn't go to waste; get a net to scoop them all in, we can sell more."
Since Ye Cheng said they wanted to net the jumping fish, everyone split up to look.
Finding a fishing net wasn't easy, there were hardly any houses around; finally Xiao Hu discovered one in the grass thicket, though it had several big holes torn in it.
Holes are holes; Ye Cheng didn't mind, he simply tied those spots together and then slipped a few wooden sticks through.
Watching the tide gradually recede, Ye Cheng led the group into the seawater and walked toward the shore.
After walking about far enough, they stuck the wooden sticks into the mudflat, raising the whole net upright, firmly blocking the path the jumping fish would take back to the sea.
As the tide receded, groups of jumping fish leapt onto the net; although they could still flutter a few times, they couldn't jump through, so they just piled up more and more on the net.
Seeing the moment was about right, Ye Cheng hurriedly led the group over and began to pick up the jumping fish.
None of the four had brought a net, so they could only grab by hand; even though the jumping fish had gathered at the net, it was still uncertain.
After working together for about half an hour, worn out with sore backs and waists, they finally got that group of jumping fish into the bucket.
This haul was more than A Long's, totaling one and a half buckets.
The sea wind gradually subsided, revealing the mudflat freshly washed by seawater.
The four wandered along the mudflat in a leisurely seaside foraging way; usually when the tide recedes there will be some catch.
"Brother Cheng, a white pomfret." A Fu scooped up a fish from a small puddle.
"Brother Cheng, look, there are also fragrant snails and sand clams."
The two Chen brothers pick up whatever they see; frankly, with these scattered items, he really isn't interested much.
After strolling around, they picked up a small half-bucket of various seafood, and nothing else.
Ye Cheng looked around, saw there was nothing left, called out, and planned to go back.
"Brother Cheng, wait for me, I'm going to take a piss." Just as he was about to leave, A Long started having diarrhea and urination.
It's no big deal if not spoken of, but once spoken, Ye Cheng himself also found it a bit interesting.
He simply pulled Xiao Hu along and they went to the bank to find a stinky ditch to relieve themselves.
The two were in the midst of their business when suddenly a small red creature crawled out from the opposite field ridge.
Xiao Hu said with a look of disgust, "Again, this kind of disgusting thing."
Having said that, Xiao Hu adjusted his angle, intending to give it a direct hit.
Just then, Ye Cheng suddenly shouted, "Stop! Don't mess with it!"
That shout made Xiao Hu almost shrink back.
