Chapter 27: Please Ask Widow Zhang to Work
The skill had been activated, Ye Cheng also didn't waste time, like a monkey jumping on the stones, he hurried to look for crabs.
Ye Cheng squatted beside a large stone; there was a fairly deep crack underneath. He shoved his shovel in, dug twice, and immediately something grabbed onto the shovel.
There was something, but it was a bit deep in there, so he didn't dare to reach in.
"Brother, do you dare to reach in and grab it?" Ye Cheng shouted.
"I dare, what's there to be afraid of? Come on." Ye Guowei walked over to the stone, reached in, and quickly pulled out a large blue crab.
"Nice, brother, you're not even afraid of getting bitten."
Ye Guowei didn't respond, tossed the crab into the bucket, then reached in again, "Looks like there's another one."
He had shoved half his arm in, and Ye Guowei pulled another blue crab out.
From under a stone crack they found two blue crabs—good, this doubled skill works.
Ye Guowei went to tie up the crabs, and Ye Cheng continued walking forward.
He casually tapped the stone with his shovel, and saw a blue crab scurry out from underneath, panicking as it tried to flee.
Ye Cheng stepped on it with one foot to hold it down, then picked it up.
Before he could even grab it, another crab darted out from under the stone beneath his foot.
Damn it, it's a crab plague.
"Xiao Hu, hurry over—there's one trying to get away here," Ye Cheng shouted.
Xiao Hu strode over in big steps, caught up to the fleeing big general in a couple of moves, and hoisted it up.
"Brother, how come you have so many? I only got two over there," Xiao Hu complained.
Ye Cheng proudly put the crabs in the bucket, "That's right, even the crabs recognize a handsome brother."
Xiao Hu snorted, turned up his nose, and said, "I don't believe you, you ghost."
Having said that, Xiao Hu turned to head back, but suddenly his foot stopped, he felt something moving underneath; he looked down and saw a blue crab wriggling nonstop in the sand beneath his foot.
"Brother, look—I'm a handsome guy too."
"Fine, you're handsome too—hurry up, we don't have much time," Ye Cheng urged.
Xiao Hu looked up at the sky, "It's still early; I could keep gathering like this all day."
Ye Cheng checked his skill timer—55 minutes left. Time was precious, so he didn't waste it chatting.
With the Burst Skill, Ye Cheng could find several blue crabs after just a couple of steps, and Ye Guowei behind him was starting to get flustered.
"Xiao Hu, open the snakeskin bag for my brother and put everything inside," Ye Cheng ordered. He had no time to spare; he needed to seize the moment.
Xiao Hu acknowledged, turned around, and went to fetch the snakeskin bag for Ye Guowei.
The two of them tossed the already-tied blue crabs from the bucket straight into the snakeskin bag.
The three were busy having a blast, paying no attention to anything else.
Suddenly a shout came from the shore: "So many blue crabs!"
Ye Cheng's expression hardened as he turned his head; it was Zhang Guafu, her mouth agape, staring at the three of them in disbelief.
She had been sent by the Village Chief to monitor Ye Cheng and the others, mainly to watch them and prevent them from gathering elsewhere.
But just a moment ago, while she was idly strolling over, she happened to see it with her own eyes—so many blue crabs.
They actually put the blue crabs in a snakeskin bag?!
Good heavens—normally, finding even one or two crabs while gathering is already a stroke of luck.
What on earth are those three up to?
Did they raid the crabs' nest?
They're even using a snakeskin bag.
She roughly counted just now—there must be several dozen, and this one's head is huge.
It's about twice the size of an ordinary blue crab.
Seeing Zhang Guafu like that, one could guess she'd definitely go tell the Village Chief.
Xiao Hu and Ye Guowei stared straight at Ye Cheng, waiting for him to speak.
Looking at those two, Ye Cheng also wore a helpless expression: "Can't you guys think of something?"
"Auntie, you came at just the right time—come help us out; we're short-handed, and I'll give you a few later," Ye Cheng said to Zhang Guafu.
Zhang Guafu had indeed been planning to go report to the Village Chief, but Ye Cheng's shout made her stop, and she hesitated.
"Auntie, what are you still thinking about? I told you following the Village Chief gets you nowhere; it'd be better to help us—come lend a hand, and I'll give you three blue crabs later," Ye Cheng continued.
"Three? You really said that?" Zhang Guafu was completely won over.
She also had no steady income, being dirt poor; those three blue crabs could fetch a decent sum, and if Ye Cheng kept his word, she wouldn't mind helping him.
"Three, don't worry—I keep my word, but you have to help out and work for them; you can't just take them for free," Ye Cheng said firmly.
Ye Cheng didn't say he'd give her three for free—the difference is huge.
If he gave them away for free, Zhang Guafu would think she'd gotten leverage over Ye Cheng and might become even more greedy later.
But if she worked for them in exchange, her status would change—she'd become a worker, and her mindset would naturally shift.
Having years of factory experience, Ye Cheng understood this dynamic well.
Of course, this applies to those modern elites; nowadays people's thoughts are relatively simple, so it might not be necessary.
Upon hearing that she'd have to work to earn them, Zhang Guafu actually relaxed.
"All right, what do you want me to do?" Zhang Guafu rolled up her pant legs and came down.
"Help my brother tie up the crabs—you know how, right?"
"Sure, this is just ordinary work." Zhang Guafu picked up a crab and tied it skillfully.
As the saying goes, a woman with a child truly has it hard—she needs to know how to do everything.
"Auntie, you're doing great," Ye Cheng praised.
That's right, Auntie is also good at work; if you have any work later, remember to call Auntie.
Saying that, Zhang Guafu grabbed the crab from the bucket and got to work.
Alright, next time if there's anything, call you.
In business and in life, more friends mean more ways.
Big people do big things, small people do small things; even Liu Bei relying only on his two brothers Guan Zhang couldn't accomplish such a big thing.
With Zhang Guafu's help, Ye Cheng started looking for crabs with peace of mind; Ye Guowei helped catch them, and the several people had a clear division of labor.
When the skill time still had 10 minutes left, Ye Cheng realized something was off; he couldn't find any crabs.
He searched several stones in a row, but found nothing.
"Xiao Hu, how's your side?" Ye Cheng asked.
"Brother, it seems gone, I've been searching for a while." Xiao Hu shook his head.
Ye Cheng had figured it out; the Luck Value was 50, and it was still above this number.
Today's Luck Value was low, and the yield was also low.
To be safe, Ye Cheng continued searching for half an hour, found a few small stone crabs, some mussels and scallops, and nothing else.
"Alright, let's wrap up." Ye Cheng shouted.
"Not doing it anymore?" Ye Guowei asked.
"Hmm, about right, searching further won't yield anything; let's see how much we have in total."
