Chapter 29: Posted to the Account
After making an appointment with Boss Qian, Ye Cheng hung up the phone.
Li Quezi glanced and said, "Five minutes, two and a half."
Ye Cheng took out money from his pocket and paid two and a half; he had been here for several days, still not quite used to paying in cash.
Just as he was about to leave, Li Quezi spoke, "Lao Er, you caught this many blue crabs? Going out to gather?"
Ye Cheng knew this guy had heard; there was no way, not having a phone is really inconvenient.
"Yeah, I managed to get a bit."
"Eighty of them, and you call that a bit? Too modest."
"But didn't the Village Chief assign you an area? You wouldn't have gone to someone else's place to get them, would you?"
"No, just the area the Village Chief gave me."
Li Quezi looked astonished, "Your side is all rocks, yet there are so many blue crabs?"
"Crabs like it; what can I do?"
"If Chen Jinhai found out, he'd probably be furious; I never expected that giving you that barren plot would let you catch this many."
"Whether he's angry or not, I don't care; I want to make money, to get rich—no one can stop me."
Ye Cheng spoke with great bravado; Li Quezi looked at this Ye Cheng before him, both familiar and somewhat strange, and his mind went blank.
After leaving Li Quezi, Ye Cheng went to find Li Yong, who had a small van that could carry people or goods; whenever there was an urgent need to go to town, people usually called him.
Li Yong happened to be home; hearing Ye Cheng's purpose, he didn't say much, "Going to town, right? 80 yuan round trip, pay first."
"Then here's 100; after delivering the goods I still want to buy something." Ye Cheng tossed over a large bill.
Li Yong's eyes lit up, his expression toward Ye Cheng softened, "I've been hearing from the villagers that Ye Lao Er has recently come into money; I didn't expect it to be true."
"Uncle, hurry up; I'm in a rush to deliver the goods."
"Fine, the car is in the courtyard; hop in my vehicle and we'll set off."
Li Yong got in the car, an old-style minivan, with no leather seats, no high-end sound system, and of course no large-screen navigation.
The two drove first to Xiao Hu's house, loaded the blue crabs onto the vehicle, with Xiao Hu sitting in the back watching.
From Baiyun Village to the city is over twenty kilometers; if there were elevated roads in later times, it would take just ten-odd minutes.
However, leaving Baiyun Village for the city is just a dirt road, then a provincial highway; Li Yong drove for nearly forty minutes before entering the city.
As for this Fuwang Seafood Grand Restaurant, Li Yong had heard of it; in Donghai Shi it's also a fairly famous eatery.
The car pulled up to the restaurant's entrance; needless to say, it really is a grand restaurant—two stories, with an imposing gate.
Ye Cheng had Xiao Hu unload the blue crabs, then told Li Yong to go find a parking spot.
After telling the doorman to find Boss Qian, Boss Qian came out shortly.
"Xiao Ye, come, bring the stuff inside to have a look."
Ye Cheng and Xiao Hu carried the blue crabs and followed Boss Qian to the back kitchen; Boss Qian had someone bring over a large frame,
"Come, take a look at the blue crabs you said were about a catty each."
Since it wasn't yet lunchtime, a few bored service staff also gathered to watch.
Seeing Ye Cheng pour out so many large blue crabs, they all exclaimed in surprise.
"Such big blue crabs!"
"They're much bigger than the ones we have in our shop."
"Wow, crabs this big—customers will surely love them."
Boss Qian shot them a glance, and the few service staff who sensed the mood slipped away.
"Sorry about that, a few service staff—haven't seen much of the world." Boss Qian explained in a sentence.
Ye Cheng smiled without saying a word; from the conversation of those service staff, he could tell his blue crabs would fetch a good price this time.
In fact, when Boss Qian himself saw this batch of blue crabs, his eyes lit up; he runs a seafood restaurant, unafraid of good goods, just lacking good goods.
The better the goods, the better his business.
Last time's batch of sea cucumber and abalone satisfied several old customers, who muttered for him to prepare another batch.
But this kind of wild thing is like that—it depends on luck; even if he has money, he may not be able to obtain it.
He picked out a few, examined them carefully, nodded, "They're definitely wild; I'll take this batch at fifty yuan each, without weighing—how about that?"
"Boss Qian is generous." Ye Cheng smiled and gave a thumbs-up.
"Fifty yuan each is absolutely acceptable; it fully meets his psychological expectation, so going to town was the right choice."
Seeing Ye Cheng so straightforward, Boss Qian also felt pleased, "Xiao Ye, I see your demeanor doesn't match that of a rural youth; I offered you this price and you didn't even think to raise it—aren't you afraid I'll cheat you?"
Ye Cheng shook his head, "Although I don't know the market price for blue crabs in the city, since I chose Boss Qian I trust you; of course, if Boss Qian cheats me this time, next time I'll remove him from my list of partners."
Ye Cheng's half-joking, half-serious demeanor gave Boss Qian a jolt; this young man before him is absolutely not simple, appearing carefree and laughing, but he knows that if he cheats Ye Cheng once, this kid will definitely switch partners.
For now, the goods Ye Cheng provides are all good; he must hold onto this valuable supplier.
"Hahaha, Xiao Ye said it well; come, let's go get the money, and by the way I'll show you around our restaurant."
Watching the two walk out, Xiao Hu hurriedly picked up the snakeskin bag from the ground; he'll need to use it again next time.
Boss Qian brought Ye Cheng on a tour—one purpose was to show off his restaurant, another was to intimidate him, letting him know the scale of the restaurant he's partnering with.
So Boss Qian personally led Ye Cheng into the most luxurious private room.
"How is it? This is our restaurant's VIP private room—big enough?" Boss Qian said proudly.
"As for this private room, well, it's big."
"However, the décor style is still a product of this era; frankly, Ye Cheng felt nothing looking at it."
"In later times, whose hotel private rooms aren't like this? Ye Cheng has experienced places a hundred times more luxurious—truly gilt and splendid; in such places, eating isn't really about food, it's about face."
Xiao Hu was already dumbfounded; such a luxurious place, even carpeted, he dared not step inside, only standing at the doorway to look.
Looking at Boss Qian's expectant, praise-seeking gaze, Ye Cheng reluctantly said insincerely, "Not bad."
Boss Qian's face darkened. "This isn't bad; my VIP private room in Donghai Shi counts as luxurious, yet this kid feels nothing at all."
"Um, Boss Qian, I have something else to do, I'll go first." Ye Cheng took a quick look and was about to leave; he actually had other things to attend to.
"Ah, won't you take another look? My other private rooms are also nice, and we have a main hall that can seat over twenty tables." Boss Qian suddenly felt a bit down; how could such a large restaurant fail to elicit even a bit of interest from this kid.
"I'm not looking; Boss Qian, your business is booming!"
Having said that, Ye Cheng left directly with Xiao Hu.
