Chapter 411: Qian Shen's Family Dinner
After he said that, the few people who had boarded the boat together immediately became unhappy.
"Chen Jinfa, what do you mean?"
"You damn good-for-nothing, blaming us."
"Exactly, you chose the route, and now that the dragnet yields no crabs, you blame us? Why not blame yourself?"
Being pointed at and scolded by several people, Chen Jinfa, no pushover, immediately pointed back and cursed them.
A crowd instantly fell into chaos; eventually, some bastard threw a lump of stone from outside, instantly igniting both sides, and they started brawling right on the dock.
Chen Jinhai was so angry he almost fainted.
Money, I didn't make any money.
People, I lost them.
Xiao Hu sneaked back from behind, clapped his hands, and whispered to Ye Cheng,
"Brother, wasn't that exciting?"
Ye Cheng looked at his smug expression, immediately understood, and whispered,
"Damn, it was you who threw the stone."
"Sure, after arguing for ages without coming to blows, I just gave them a hand."
"Fine, you're really something."
Ye Cheng was speechless; it was a bit underhanded, but he really enjoyed watching.
Here, the Chen family were fighting fiercely, everyone bloodied; Chen Jinfa was punched in the nose, and blood spurted out.
Seeing the blood, everyone calmed down; the people on the dock then gathered and separated the two sides.
Chen Jinfa, one against five, now has a bruised and swollen face, is bleeding, and his clothes are torn apart.
"Jinhai, they beat me—I can't just let this go." Chen Jinfa glared at Chen Jinhai, saying angrily.
Chen Jinhai had always supported him, but this time he didn't want to deal with him at all, gave him a glance and walked away.
He didn't want to lose face there anymore.
Once Chen Jinhai left, the others also dispersed, and Chen Jinfa could only consider himself unlucky.
After watching the excitement, Ye Cheng simply went back.
On the way, Qian Shen said her son would return but wouldn't attend the gathering tomorrow night; the others understood.
However, Qian Shen insisted on bringing a group to her house for a simple meal tomorrow night to apologize, since they still had to go out to sea that evening.
Ye Cheng couldn't argue, so he agreed; the others didn't mind either—it was just a plain dinner, with little drinking.
Seeing their agreement, Qian Shen beamed with joy.
She just wanted everyone to see her son; her son was coming back.
Ye Cheng slept well through the day and got up at 5 p. m.
Having agreed to go to Qian Shen's for dinner, he couldn't go too late, and it wouldn't do to show up empty-handed.
He went straight to Li Quezi's, picked up two bottles of good liquor, and headed over.
Arriving at 5:30, he could hear Qian Shen's laughter from afar—a genuine, heartfelt joy.
Ye Cheng walked in; the others hadn't arrived yet, while Qian Shen and her sister-in-law Jiang Yunxiang were busy preparing the food.
Seeing Ye Cheng enter, Qian Shen hurriedly put down what she was holding and went to greet him,
"A Cheng's here."
After speaking, she saw what Ye Cheng was holding and immediately darkened her face,
"Oh dear, I invited you for a meal, and you bring liquor?"
"Feiyang's back, after all—we ought to show some respect; we can't just freeload."
No sooner had those words fallen than Duan Chunsheng's hearty laugh came from the doorway,
"Exactly, how could we freeload? Though I'm not as generous as Boss Ye, I brought some dishes."
Duan Chunsheng walked in from outside, holding a bowl of braised pork trotters.
"This is my wife's cooking; Qian Shen, you must be tired from a night at sea—make two fewer dishes."
"Ah, you all brought something, but I came empty‑handed." Xiao Hu shuffled in from outside.
Soon after, Zhang Guafu and Han Xiaotao arrived; Han Xiaotao brought her child, a three‑year‑old boy with a runny nose.
"Xiao Wei, call someone." Han Xiaotao urged the child.
Xiao Wei looked at everyone, a little scared, and didn't dare speak.
"All right, Xiao Tao, we're family, the child is small—let's get to the table." Qian Shen called everyone to come inside.
Inside, Ye Guowei and Dou Dou were also present; they had prepared a big feast.
In the living room, an Eight Immortals table was set up, with an extra tabletop added, allowing over a dozen people to sit together.
The table was already laden with dishes; it was clear Qian Shen had spared no expense today.
Small blue dragon and grouper were both served.
"Sure, Aunt, you're living the good life now." Ye Cheng teased.
"I owe it to you, Aunt." Qian Shen said, then turned to look at her honest husband,
"Old He, hurry up and greet the guests, have them sit."
Qian Shen's husband, surnamed He, not much of a talker; hearing his wife call him, he quickly stood up, rubbed his hands, and said bluntly,
"Come on, hurry and sit, hurry and sit."
Everyone being acquaintances, they didn't stand on ceremony and took their seats, chief and subordinate.
Originally Qian Shen wanted Ye Cheng to take the seat of honor, but her elder brother was present, so Ye Cheng insisted on sitting by age and took a lower place.
"Aunt, where's your Feiyang?"
Everyone has taken their seats, but the main person hasn't arrived yet.
"Fei Yang went out for a moment, will be back soon, you guys eat first." Qian Shen saw that everyone had arrived, and told them to start eating.
"It's fine, we'll just chat a while, no rush." Ye Cheng said.
We were just getting together to eat rice balls; going out to sea doesn't require hurrying for just a short while.
Several adults were chatting, but Xiao Wei's eyes were fixed on the meat on the table, his gaze full of longing.
But without Han Xiaotao's consent, he didn't dare to eat, so he could only keep looking at his mother.
Han Xiaotao originally had no backing in this small circle; put bluntly, she could be cleared out at any time.
Since nobody else was making a move, she didn't dare to act either, so she could only stop the child with her gaze.
Ye Cheng had long heard that Han Xiaotao's life was tough, the child hadn't had meat in a long time; seeing this now, it really is the case.
Xiao Wei is a bit skinny and dry, his complexion sallow; at a glance he looks malnourished.
By contrast, Dou Dou—this little guy has been fed by Ye Cheng, and is starting to put on weight; Jiang Yunxiang now has to control his snacks, afraid he'll become a little fatty.
"Xiao Wei, come, you eat first, don't worry about us." Ye Cheng said softly to Xiao Wei.
Xiao Wei's eyes lit up instantly, but he then timidly glanced at Han Xiaotao.
Han Xiaotao was just about to say 'wait a moment,' but Ye Cheng had already picked up a thick piece of pork trotter and placed it in Xiao Wei's bowl,
"Hurry up and eat, your mom agreed."
Seeing Ye Cheng pass it over, Han Xiaotao nodded gratefully, then said to Xiao Wei,
"Then you eat first."
Hearing his mother's words, Xiao Wei immediately stopped being polite, opened his not-so-big mouth, and took a big bite.
Such a large piece of pork trotter, half of it was bitten off in one go.
