He went straight to the desk, picked up the phone and dialed.

"Song Zhiyong, get ready now—take some people to Baiyun Village and bring back two people. Keep it covert; don't let anyone notice. Understand?"

After hanging up, Zhou Zu Hai looked at Ye Cheng with a solemn expression.

"Ye Cheng, I just called the criminal police. In a moment, take some people to bring back that senior consultant—and also your He Feiyang—bring him along as well."

"We'll investigate this thoroughly. I promise you—I can credit this merit to him. If he really isn't involved in that MLM organization, he'll be fine."

Ye Cheng felt relieved hearing that—this old fox could say that much, so He Feiyang is basically fine.

"Alright, Chief Zhou, don't worry—I'll definitely bring the person back."

Song Zhiyong was already waiting downstairs, with two vehicles, neither of them police cars.

Seeing Xiao Li accompanying Ye Cheng down, Song Zhiyong hurried out to greet them.

"Xiao Li, who is this?" Song Zhiyong asked proactively.

"Oh, this is Chief Zhou's guest Ye Cheng, and also the informant he provided." Xiao Li used the word "guest" twice, immediately elevating Ye Cheng's status.

Song Zhiyong understood at once and eagerly stepped forward to shake hands.

"Are you Ye Cheng? I'm Captain Song Zhiyong of the Criminal Police Brigade."

"Captain Song, let's head out early—I'm worried something might happen if we're late."

At home, they had Xiao Hu watch over Xia Guangliang, and also needed to keep an eye on He Feiyang—I don't know how that's going.

The two cars sped toward Baiyun Village. On the way, Ye Cheng told Song Zhiyong about what Chief Zhou had promised, asking him to be as gentle as possible when they later apprehend He Feiyang.

Song Zhiyong readily agreed—leadership had already given orders for this sort of thing.

Upon entering Baiyun Village, everything looked peaceful, few people about, only a few scattered passersby.

Ye Cheng had Song Zhiyong drive straight to Xiao Hu's door; the gate was shut tight, and they didn't know if anyone was home.

Ye Cheng went up and lightly knocked a few times, then called out,

"Xiao Hu!"

The door creaked open, and Xiao Hu's father poked his head out nervously; seeing Ye Cheng, he relaxed.

"Lao Er, you've finally shown up."

"Where's Xiao Hu and that guy?"

"He's in, he's inside." Xiao Hu's father said hurriedly, then glanced at the several stern-looking men behind Ye Cheng.

"Lao Er, who are these?"

"Police, they're here to take people away—don't ask so many questions." Ye Cheng pushed the door open, letting Song Zhiyong and the others enter.

"Xiao Hu and that guy are in there." Xiao Hu's father pointed to the kitchen.

Ye Cheng pushed the door open and stepped in—then he was speechless.

Xiao Hu sat in the kitchen chewing on a sweet potato, while Xia Guangliang was trussed up like a sticky rice dumpling and tossed onto the floor.

"No, I told you to keep him under control."

"You're doing illegal confinement."

Song Zhiyong came in and saw the same—had nothing to say.

He gave a soft cough, pointed at Xia Guangliang, and asked,

"Is this the senior consultant?"

"Yes, Captain Song—uh, he probably tried to run, so we tied him up. When dealing with criminals, we folks in the village never go easy; you don't need to thank us."

Song Zhiyong rolled his eyes—yeah, right, like I'd thank you, nice dream.

"Anyway, you can't do this from now on—it's illegal confinement. If you need to take someone, just notify the police." Song Zhiyong reminded them.

"Understood, understood—we were just being overzealous." Ye Cheng said while hurriedly getting Xiao Hu to untie the ropes.

As soon as the ropes came loose, Xia Guangliang started shouting his grievance,

"Officer, they're bad people—they kidnapped me, you need to arrest them!"

Song Zhiyong gave him a cold look, then said sternly,

"Xia Guangliang, we suspect you're connected to that MLM case—please come with us for a bit. As for them, we'll handle it."

"No, I'm not in MLM—I'm just selling products, not MLM." Xia Guangliang shouted loudly.

Ye Cheng didn't indulge him either, shoving the rag Xiao Hu had just used into his mouth.

"Captain Song, if he shouts, people will hear and we'll be exposed."

Song Zhiyong nodded—Chief Zhou demanded we bring the person back secretly; in special times we use special means.

"Let's take him—go get the next one."

"Captain Song, the next one isn't an arrest—it's just to assist the investigation." Ye Cheng quickly corrected.

"Okay, okay, whatever you say—assist the investigation." Song Zhiyong had them put Xia Guangliang in the vehicle.

After Song Zhiyong left, Ye Cheng summoned Xiao Hu's family over,

"Uncle, Aunt, and Xiao Hu—don't tell anyone about today's affair, got it?"

Xiao Hu's parents nodded anxiously, then asked,

"Lao Er, what's going on?"

"It's about the MLM thing—nothing to do with us or Xiao Hu. Just eat and drink as you should."

After Ye Cheng finished, he turned to Xiao Hu,

"Over this period I might need to make several trips to the city; you stay in the village, listen closely, and tell me if anything comes up."

Xiao Hu nodded,

"Brother, do you want me to come along?"

"No need—it's police business. I'm mainly going to keep an eye on Feiyang; otherwise Aunt Qian will chew me out."

"What? Feiyang is also going to be taken away?" Xiao Hu's dad asked in surprise.

"He's also in multi-level marketing, but I've told the police it's fine, I won't make things difficult for him, just going through the procedure."

"Alright, I'm heading over now."

After saying that, Ye Cheng bade them farewell and left.

Xiao Hu's dad looked at Xiao Hu with an uneasy expression,

"Xiao Hu, Feiyang gets arrested just for selling something."

Xiao Hu nodded,

"My brother said, this is multi-level marketing, it's very harmful, as long as you listen to my brother you'll be fine."

Two cars pulled up to Qian Shen's gate, the courtyard door was tightly shut, and faint arguing could be heard from inside.

"This is the place."

Ye Cheng brought Song Zhiyong inside, and as soon as they entered they heard He Feiyang shouting in the room,

"Are you guys sick? Hurry up and let me go, I still need to get them to place orders; if they don't order, they'll lose their benefits, and then you'll be the ones responsible, right?"

Ye Cheng pushed the door open and entered; inside he saw a crowd of people, Ye Guowei and Duan Chunsheng were guarding the door, Wang Defa was also there, He Shu and Qian Shen looked clueless, as if the apocalypse had descended.

He Feiyang stood there, face full of anger, pointing at Duan Chunsheng and the others as he cursed.

Upon seeing Ye Cheng enter, He Feiyang froze for a moment, then pointed at the people behind him—Song Zhiyong and the others—and said,

"Who are you? Who let you into my house?"

Song Zhiyong's face showed no flicker; he simply took out a certificate from his pocket,

"Police! He Feiyang, we now suspect you're involved in that multi-level marketing case; please come back to cooperate with our investigation."

As soon as he heard it was the police, He Feiyang's legs went weak; he could act arrogant in front of others, but not in front of the police.

Basically, he'd only been working away from home for two years; seeing the police show up at his door, he panicked outright.
