Chapter 60: Isn't this Uncle Li Yong? Why are you here too? What a coincidence

~7 min read 1,270 words

"Boss, how much is this tripe?" Ye Cheng pointed to a dark brown lump on the beef cutting board.

This is beef tripe; cattle have four stomachs, and for hot pot the tastiest is the honeycomb tripe, which becomes crunchy in eight seconds when dipped.

However, this tripe is usually expensive, and I don't know how much it costs per jin now.

"Honeycomb tripe is 12, money tripe is 13, handsome guy, which would you like?" the boss said enthusiastically.

Ye Cheng also likes money tripe, and compared to honeycomb tripe, sometimes money tripe feels more cost-effective in hot pot, after all only the top large piece of honeycomb tripe is tasty, while the lower part has a much worse texture.

Money tripe, however, has uniform texture throughout, is more chewy, and is also a rare delicacy.

"Let's have one each, then slice some beef for hot pot."

"Sure, take a look: honeycomb tripe, money tripe, and then 2 jin of beef, total 76."

Ye Cheng waved his hand, indicating it was fine.

With this big pile, even carrying it himself feels a bit heavy, and it's only over 70 bucks—really can't complain.

After buying the beef, Ye Cheng went to buy several packs of hot pot base, getting a bit of everything from the spicy list; judging by his habits, he'll probably need to use it sooner or later.

As for dipping sauce, Ye Cheng bought two boxes of sesame paste, although he doesn't like it himself, but he doesn't know if his older brother and sister-in-law want any.

Actually, Ye Cheng originally used sesame paste as his hot pot dipping sauce, but after trying garlic sauce he abandoned the sesame paste, only using a bit when eating lamb rolls.

He just likes that kind of oil dipping sauce—refreshing sesame oil with a hint of red.

One piece of tripe dipped, the sesame oil follows its texture into the bowl; even without eating, you can imagine that refreshing feeling.

Besides these, Ye Cheng also planned to buy some vermicelli, which kids love.

Turning his head, he saw a familiar figure standing not far away, sneakily looking at him; when he turned his head, Li Yong hurriedly squatted down, pretending to buy vegetables there.

Ye Cheng's expression tightened—what a coincidence?

Just ran into him at the appliance store entrance, and now we meet again at the market?

The coincidence is a bit exaggerated.

Ye Cheng expressionlessly turned to the tofu shop, bought some dried tofu and vermicelli, basically completing the hot pot ingredients.

As for greens, Ye Cheng isn't picky; his older brother's family has a vegetable plot.

Ye Cheng glanced behind with his peripheral vision; after he walked out, Li Yong also sped up.

Ye Cheng gave a cold smile—indeed.

He increased his speed again, then rushed out of the market, but didn't go to the parking area, instead standing to the left of the main gate.

Several seconds later, Li Yong also rushed out, immediately looking around, trying to see which way Ye Cheng had gone.

Li Yong was wondering where Ye Cheng had disappeared when a noisy voice came from behind,

"Yo, isn't this Uncle Li Yong? Why are you here too? What a coincidence."

Ye Cheng walked out from the side with a look of delighted surprise.

When Li Yong saw Ye Cheng discover him, his face flushed alternately pale and red; after a moment he forced an ugly smile.

"Yo, it's Lao Er—what a coincidence, why are you here too?"

Ye Cheng looked at Li Yong's lying-distorted face and basically confirmed in his heart that this guy was deliberately following him; however, if he asked that way, he certainly wouldn't say it.

"I just came to the city to buy some vegetables, take a look." Ye Cheng handed the items in his hand to Li Yong to see.

Li Yong lowered his head to look, then said pretentiously, "You bought quite a bit of meat, Lao Er, you've got money now."

Ye Cheng waited for him to finish, then gave him an innocent stare and said, "Uncle, why are you at the market without buying anything? You're not following me, are you?"

Li Yong panicked instantly, glanced left and right, "No, how would I follow you? I... I just got here, haven't bought anything yet."

"You haven't bought yet? Then hurry in and buy—there's good, cheap vegetables inside, get more, Uncle."

Seeing Ye Cheng just standing there waiting for him to go in, Li Yong could only helplessly wave his hand, "Alright, I'm going in then."

"Go on, Uncle, buy more."

Li Yong entered unwillingly, took a few steps, then looked back—Ye Cheng was still standing at the doorway watching him.

He could only squat down to pretend to haggle with the vegetable vendor; after finishing his purchase and turning around, Ye Cheng was gone.

This time he didn't dare run out; Ye Cheng's shout earlier had almost scared his soul away.

By the time he came out normally, Ye Cheng had already disappeared.

Damn it, he's still tailing me.

Ye Cheng had already ridden away from the market on his bike, wondering why Li Yong, with no grudge, was following him.

Could it be that Boss Qian was right after all?

Li Yong had already been shaken off; Ye Cheng didn't bother with him anymore, checked the time—it was about right—so he went to KFC to buy some fried chicken burgers and headed back.

Fried chicken—if you don't eat it you crave it, but eat too much and it gets annoying.

This is for Dou Dou; my little nephew can't be neglected, calling "second uncle, second uncle" so affectionately.

When Ye Cheng returned to the village it was already 4 p. m.; he drove straight into his older brother's house.

Hearing the motorcycle's sound, Jiang Yunxiang came out curiously, with Dou Dou following; seeing Ye Cheng on the bike, Jiang Yunxiang asked curiously,

"A Cheng, whose bike is this?"

Ye Cheng proudly got off the bike, tapped the brand-new metal, "Sister-in-law, I bought it myself; from now on going to the city will be convenient."

"Second Uncle, you have a motorcycle now—I want to ride too."

Kids can't resist new things; he immediately ran over and curiously touched it.

"Dou Dou, don't touch randomly, you'll break it." Jiang Yunxiang softly scolded.

"Sister-in-law, it's just a means of transport—what's there to break?"

"I bought hot pot ingredients and vegetables; let's have hot pot tonight."

Ye Cheng took the induction cooker, microwave oven, and vegetables off the bike.

"So much meat, and tripe too—how much did this cost?" Jiang Yunxiang exclaimed softly.

"Not much, sister-in-law, trouble you to cut it a bit, I'll take Dou Dou for a ride." Ye Cheng grabbed Dou Dou and held him in front sitting, then he himself straddled up.

The motorcycle let out a pleasant roar, roaring as it shot out, accompanied by Dou Dou's happy laughter.

To be honest, the village isn't big; Ye Cheng took Dou Dou for a slight ride and had already toured it all, then he turned onto Xiao Hu's doorstep and stopped.

Xiao Hu was sitting at the doorway chatting with his old mother; as soon as he saw Ye Cheng's motorcycle, this guy jumped up with a swish.

Full of surprise, he said, "Brother, you really bought it."

"Bought it, going into town will be more convenient from now on, want to hop on? Let's go for a ride."

Ye Cheng discovered that after his rebirth, his mindset had become much younger as well; he actually ended up liking this kind of meat-wrapped-in-iron thing.
