Chapter 16: The Terror of the Eyes of Eternal Freeze
"Heh, falling for it so easily, what a fool. And to think I prepared so many backup plans."
Manager Wang wiped his hands, sneering as he looked at Ye Lin, who had already fallen into a coma.
He kicked Ye Lin, who slumped to the floor, unconscious. Manager Wang raised his foot again, using the hard heel of his leather shoe to grind forcefully into Ye Lin’s palm until it was a bloody mess, yet Ye Lin did not react in the slightest.
After confirming that Ye Lin was unconscious, Manager Wang took out a phone.
"Hey, Boss, it’s done. This kid is no different from a dead pig now."
After hanging up, about three or four minutes passed before the door to the private room was pushed open, and a very shrewd-looking middle-aged man walked in.
If Ye Lin hadn't been drugged, he would surely have recognized that this middle-aged man was the black-hearted boss from the day he sold his kidney at the black market!
"Well done." The black-hearted boss nodded at Manager Wang with satisfaction.
"But Boss, I don't quite understand, why go through so much trouble for a high school examinee? If others find out, we’re going to be in big trouble," Manager Wang couldn't help but say.
A high school examinee, and an SSS-rank class-changer at that—such an existence was enough to attract the attention of the upper echelons of Qingcheng. If Ye Lin weren't an orphan with no background, Manager Wang wouldn't have dared to take this job.
"Don't ask so many questions. The more people know, the sooner they die." The black-hearted boss gave Manager Wang a cold look. "Get out. Without my order, no one is allowed near this room. Violators will be killed!"
"Yes... Boss." Manager Wang nodded and slunk out of the room, closing the door for the black-hearted boss.
After Manager Wang left, the black-hearted boss crouched down, staring fixedly at the unconscious Ye Lin, much like an old professor who had studied aliens his whole life suddenly seeing a real one with his own eyes.
He reached out with his rough, large hand and began to stroke Ye Lin’s body.
"Kidney, spleen, liver, gallbladder, bladder, corneas, coronary arteries, liver, large intestine, small intestine."
The black-hearted boss’s expression grew increasingly ferocious, the excitement in his eyes beyond words.
"It’s back, I can feel it, it’s all back!"
"The organs this kid sold me before have actually all grown back! Incredible, this is simply incredible!"
The black-hearted boss gently stroked Ye Lin, as if carefully cherishing a rare treasure.
"If I could master the secret of organ regeneration..." A sharp glint flickered in the black-hearted boss’s eyes.
"If you could master the secret of organ regeneration, even those true big shots would have to treat you as an honored guest!" A voice rang out in the black-hearted boss’s ear.
"Yes, yes, yes! That’s right! By then, who knows how many people would have to kneel before me and beg!" The black-hearted boss nodded repeatedly; just thinking about that scene made him so excited he almost jumped up.
But immediately after, he realized something was wrong!
Besides the unconscious Ye Lin and himself, where could a third person be in this room?
"Who?"
He spun around abruptly, only to be met with Ye Lin’s expressionless face.
"You’re awake? How is that possible! The food you ate was laced with a triple dose of sedative; even if an elephant ate it, it wouldn't be able to wake up within six hours!" The black-hearted boss was shocked.
"That’s not the question you should be asking. I’m more curious, how did you track me?"
Ye Lin’s face was full of coldness. He clearly remembered that when he left the underground black market, he had deliberately taken several detours to ensure no one was following him before returning home. How exactly did this black-hearted boss find him?
"Hmph, I’ll explain that to you slowly once I’ve taken you down. Drugging you was just to avoid trouble. Do you really think you’re a match for me?"
The black-hearted boss sneered, and a sharp long blade appeared in his hand. Only then did Ye Lin realize that this black-hearted boss was also a class-changer, and his level was a staggering 20!
[Ji Youliang, Phantom Swordsman, Level 20]
A Phantom Swordsman was not only skilled in speed but also extremely adept at concealing their presence, coming and going without a trace—hence the name "Phantom."
Ye Lin suddenly understood. A class-changer tracking him, a mere ordinary person—it was no wonder he hadn't been able to detect it.
"Kid, just surrender obediently. If I have to make a move, I can't guarantee you won't end up missing an arm or a leg." The black-hearted boss stuck out his tongue and licked the blade.
Ye Lin’s expression was somewhat strange. This feeling was like a first-grade elementary student striking a pose and telling you, "Be careful, my punches are very strong!"
"Forbidden Spell—Burning Samsara!"
Blood-colored flames erupted from Ye Lin’s body. He had intended to end the fight instantly with a World-Ending Wild Thunder, but considering he was indoors, he didn't want to cause too much of a commotion and attract attention, so he decisively chose a different forbidden spell.
"Forbidden Spell—Eyes of Eternal Freeze!"
[Forbidden Spell—Eyes of Eternal Freeze: The Forbidden Spellcaster sacrifices their own eyeballs to freeze everything within their line of sight before their vision goes blind.]
Because the monsters he encountered in the novice secret realm were all killed in one hit, Ye Lin hadn't had a chance to use this forbidden spell since obtaining it.
The moment the Eyes of Eternal Freeze were activated, Ye Lin’s black pupils were instantly dyed a pure, crystalline white, beautiful and magnificent.
He avoided the black-hearted boss’s head and looked at the area below the man’s neck.
Before the black-hearted boss could react, ice crystals had already begun to condense on his body.
"What’s going on? What is this?"
The black-hearted boss was terrified. He raised his blade to hack away the ice crystals, but as he struck, sparks flew everywhere, and the blade in his hand clattered to the ground.
The ice crystals remained unscathed, while the impact caused the webbing between his thumb and index finger to split and bleed; the ice crystals forming on his body were as hard as metal and stone.
Soon, everything below the black-hearted boss’s neck was frozen into an ice sculpture, and Ye Lin’s vision plunged into darkness at that very moment.
The Eyes of Eternal Freeze were indeed useful, just a bit hard on the eyes, but that was naturally no problem for Ye Lin. With a thought, his eyeballs grew back.
"Impossible! This is impossible! You’re only level 16, and I’m a full level 20! Even if you’re a Forbidden Spellcaster, you shouldn't be able to finish me in one hit. What kind of monster are you?"
The black-hearted boss’s face was filled with disbelief. He wanted to struggle, but how could a forbidden spell cast at the cost of a pair of eyeballs be so easily broken?
"Alright, now we can have a proper chat." Ye Lin rotated his new, still-stiff eyeballs. "Tell me, how many people know about my ability to regenerate organs?"
The black-hearted boss pursed his lips, unwilling to speak. The chill radiating from the ice crystals on his body turned his face a bruised purple.
"It’s fine if you don't want to talk, but if this continues, everything below your neck will definitely be frozen to ruin. In that case, you’ll go from a noble level 20 class-changer to a paralyzed cripple."
Ye Lin walked slowly to the table and poured himself a cup of hot tea.
"Don't drink that! That tea has sedatives in it too!"
The black-hearted boss spoke up immediately. He wasn't worried about Ye Lin being drugged; he was afraid that if Ye Lin passed out, he would truly be left here frozen and paralyzed.
Yet, facing his warning, Ye Lin remained completely unmoved. As his throat moved, he drank down the large cup of hot tea, which contained a massive amount of sedative...
