Chapter 280: Mountain and Sea Immortal Demon Cave
"Do you think he looks like someone who wants to settle things amicably?" Jiang Wenya sneered.
"I don't want to either, but I'm not good with words, just a little skilled in fisticuffs," Ye Lin said, scratching his head shyly.
"Alright, alright, what's with all the fighting? Really, Sister Wenya, once you've finished gaining insights from the Mountain and Sea Secret Seals, they're useless to you. Why must you insist on hoarding them?" Ji Tianxuan said, sounding annoyed.
"Just because they're useless to me, I have to give them away? On what grounds?" Jiang Wenya was clearly unwilling. She turned her head to look at Ye Lin. "If you want the Mountain and Sea Secret Seals, that's fine. I see your strength is decent; how about you do something for me?"
"What is it?" Ye Lin asked.
"Go to the Mountain and Sea Immortal Demon Cave and get me something," Jiang Wenya said.
"The Mountain and Sea Immortal Demon Cave? Your Jiang family still hasn't given up? Even if Ye Lin really could get it, would the Human Emperor let you take it away?" Ji Tianxuan's expression changed slightly.
"That's not something you need to worry about." Jiang Wenya looked at Ye Lin. "How about it? If you agree, not only will the five Mountain and Sea Secret Seals in my hand be yours immediately, but I can also help you collect all 108 Mountain and Sea Secret Seals. You know I'm not joking."
Jiang Wenya pointed to the massive army of demonic creatures behind her.
If she were to let the army of demonic creatures scatter to search for the Mountain and Sea Secret Seals for her, finding all the remaining ones really wouldn't be a difficult task.
"What kind of place is the Mountain and Sea Immortal Demon Cave?" Ye Lin didn't agree immediately, but instead asked about the origin of the Mountain and Sea Immortal Demon Cave.
"Have you read the Classic of Mountains and Seas?" Jiang Wenya chuckled. "Inside the Mountain and Sea Immortal Demon Cave, there remains a trace of the ancient creatures recorded in the Classic of Mountains and Seas. It is the most dangerous place within the Mountain and Sea Secret Realm."
"The thing I want is in the deepest part of the Mountain and Sea Immortal Demon Cave."
Jiang Wenya took a portrait out of her storage space and handed it to Ye Lin.
On the portrait was depicted a lifelike fierce beast with the body of a sheep, a human face, eyes under its armpits, tiger teeth, and human claws.
"I want you to find the stone carving of this fierce beast inside the Mountain and Sea Immortal Demon Cave and bring it out intact."
"Deal. You find all the remaining Mountain and Sea Secret Seals, and I will help you bring out the stone carving."
Ye Lin agreed after hearing this; having Jiang Wenya use her army of demonic creatures to help him find the Mountain and Sea Secret Seals would be much faster than him searching for them himself.
"Straightforward! I like it!"
Jiang Wenya revealed a beautiful smile. She handed the 5 Mountain and Sea Secret Seals in her hand directly to Ye Lin, then snapped her fingers.
The next second, with a tremor that shook the earth, the massive army of demonic creatures scattered and charged off.
Presumably, it wouldn't be long before they brought back all the remaining Mountain and Sea Secret Seals.
"Where is the Mountain and Sea Immortal Demon Cave? Lead the way," Ye Lin urged.
"Don't be in such a hurry."
Jiang Wenya whistled, and a massive Dark-Winged Night Owl flew over at high speed. Jiang Wenya and the people of the Jiang family leaped up and landed on its back.
"Come on up."
The Jiang family members pulled Ye Lin up as well, and then the Dark-Winged Night Owl spread its wings and soared high, rushing into the clouds.
On the ground, Ji Tianxuan spread her hands, looking blank and bewildered.
"Hey! I haven't gotten on yet!"
"I haven't gotten on yet!"
Ji Tianxuan began to run wildly on the ground.
The Dark-Winged Night Owl soon left the primeval jungle, crossed the thousand miles of scorched yellow sand, and charged directly into the vast ocean within the Mountain and Sea Secret Realm.
After flying for about three hours, a small island standing in the middle of the ocean appeared in Ye Lin's line of sight, and a primitive and mysterious aura rushed toward him.
The island was surrounded by black reefs, and thick white mist circled the perimeter, forming a natural barrier.
It was clearly not an easy task for an ordinary person to reach this place.
"The Mountain and Sea Immortal Demon Cave is on that island. Let's go down," Jiang Wenya said, pointing to the small island.
"Since you all know where it is, why don't you go get it yourselves?" Ye Lin asked.
"The Human Emperor does not allow people from the Five Great Families to approach the Mountain and Sea Immortal Demon Cave. Our bloodlines all have marks; as soon as we get close, the Human Emperor will sense it."
Jiang Wenya spoke indifferently, her expression unreadable.
"Remember, only take the stone carving I asked you to get. Don't touch anything else, otherwise, if the Human Emperor holds someone accountable, I won't be able to help you."
"Understood."
Ye Lin nodded and didn't ask anything further. He leaped from the Dark-Winged Night Owl, performed two and a half free rotations, and landed steadily on the island below.
The moment he stepped onto the island, Ye Lin keenly sensed that the ground beneath his feet seemed to tremble, as if... this island were alive?
The island was barren, devoid of any vegetation or signs of life; there were only rocks polished smooth as mirrors by the crashing waves.
And in the very center of the island, there was a black cave entrance slanting downward, exhaling a damp, salty, and fishy breath, like a giant beast opening its maw.
"This is the Mountain and Sea Immortal Demon Cave?"
Ye Lin gripped his Imperial Gold Spear and walked cautiously toward the entrance of the cave.
The light inside the cave was very dim, and as he walked deeper, it became pitch black, so dark he couldn't see his own fingers.
Just then, a low roar echoed in the cave, and suddenly, two red lanterns appeared in the pitch-black cavern.
No!
Ye Lin looked closely and realized that those weren't red lanterns at all—they were clearly the two eyes of a giant beast!
A thumping sound rang out as the giant beast beat its chest and charged toward Ye Lin.
"Forbidden Spell—Karma Fire Burning the Heavens!"
Ye Lin didn't hesitate to cast a fire-type forbidden spell. The eerie purple-red karma fire lit up the Mountain and Sea Immortal Demon Cave.
By the light of the fire, Ye Lin finally saw the appearance of the giant beast: it was a giant ape with white fur all over its body, but its skin had a reddish hue. It was tall, stood upright, and was charging toward Ye Lin.
Seeing the karma fire approaching, the giant ape raised its arm to block, and the karma fire immediately began to burn its arm.
At this moment, the giant ape opened its blood-red maw and bit down on its own burning arm, pulling with force until the arm was severed at the root, and the giant ape used this to shake off the burning of the karma fire.
Strangely, despite having lost an arm, no blood flowed from the giant ape's body, and it didn't seem to feel the pain of the severed limb at all.
Then the giant ape leaped up and slammed a fist toward Ye Lin.
Ye Lin raised his Imperial Gold Spear to block, but was still blasted into the stone wall by the punch, coughing up a large mouthful of blood.
"Not a living creature. Is this what Jiang Wenya meant by a trace left behind by an ancient creature?"
Ye Lin was astonished. If just a trace could be this powerful, wounding him heavily with a single punch, how terrifying must this giant ape have been when it was alive?
Did such a creature actually exist once?
