Chapter 29: How Terrifying a Forbidden Spellcaster Is When They Stop Fearing Death

~9 min read 1,604 words

Accompanied by a piercing alarm, the father of the Ji family, who had just lain down, was startled awake.

A class-advancer specializing in speed rushed into the father's bedroom in a flurry.

"Mr. Ji! The outside is full of class-advancers. They intended to sneak in, but after being discovered, they chose to launch a direct assault. The opposition is too fierce; we can't hold them off! Please, come with me now!"

"What?" The father of the Ji family was both shocked and furious.

Kensen's retaliation was even faster than he had imagined! And it was even more brutal and direct!

He had just finished laying out the plan against Kensen within the Ji Group, and Kensen's retaliation had already arrived!

This guy actually brought people to attack his own Ji family villa; was he not afraid of provoking a joint effort against him from everyone in all of Qingcheng? It was simply outrageous!

"Mr. Ji! Let's go! If we don't leave now, it will be too late!" the speed-specializing class-advancer urged.

But the next second, a cold glint flashed, and a sharp blade pierced out from his heart; Kensen appeared behind him, chewing on a cigar, though no one knew when he had arrived.

"Xiao Li!" The father of the Ji family's eyes were splitting with rage, his gaze filled with fury.

Once upon a time, a small child had collapsed on the road, skin and bones from hunger, on the verge of starving to death.

Passersby bustled to and fro; some looked at him, but no one stopped for him.

He had felt a pang of compassion, brought a bowl of hot noodles to the child, and watching the other party wolf down the mouthful of noodles he fed him, he decided to adopt the child and keep him by his side.

And the other party did not disappoint him, growing up to become his right-hand man.

Xiao Li clearly felt his life force draining away along with his blood, but he still endured the excruciating pain, turned with effort, and hugged Kensen behind him.

"Mr. Ji, run!"

The severely wounded Xiao Li let out a hysterical roar!

"Are you not afraid of death?" Kensen was somewhat surprised.

"My life was bought by Mr. Ji with a bowl of noodles; it's not worth much." Xiao Li revealed a ferocious smile.

"What a touching display of loyalty between master and servant. I, Kensen, respect those who are loyal and righteous the most; I will leave your body intact."

Kensen nodded expressionlessly, then raised his hand and with a *crack*, snapped Xiao Li's neck.

"Kensen!!!"

The father of the Ji family's eyes were bloodshot, clearly enraged to the extreme; he pulled a black handgun from the drawer beside him and pulled the trigger directly at Kensen.

But before the gun could fire, a cold-glinting long blade slid through like lightning; in the father's incredulous gaze, the hand holding the gun flew high into the air.

"Using a gun against a class-advancer, what kind of idiot are you?"

Kensen smiled with disdain; things like guns were fine for dealing with those who had just successfully advanced, but once strength reached level 30 or above, a gun was no different from a toy in front of a class-advancer.

"In your next life, remember not to go against me, Kensen. I was just keeping a low profile, not dead."

Kensen raised his blade, preparing to finish off the father, when a subordinate hurried over and whispered something in his ear.

"What?! You let them both run? Useless!"

Kensen slapped the subordinate across the face and put away the blade he had intended to use on the father.

"Mr. Ji." Kensen revealed a smile. "Congratulations, your son and that Ye Lin ran fast enough; you get to live a little longer."

Since Ji Lingyu and Ye Lin had escaped, the father could not be killed yet; killing him would be equivalent to cutting off Ji Lingyu's weakness.

If you cut the grass but don't remove the roots, it will grow again with the spring breeze.

Kensen did not want someone to suddenly return in ten or twenty years to seek revenge; he, Kensen, did not do things by halves—if he did something, he would see it through to the end!

He would use the father to lure those two out and then wipe them out together!

"Don't even think about it!"

The father was also an old fox; seeing Kensen's reaction, he immediately knew what he was planning, and he slammed his head toward the corner of the wall.

His son was his only concern; he would never allow himself to become the bait that caused his son's death!

But how could Kensen let the father have his way? Before he even touched the corner, he was knocked unconscious by a hand-blade strike from Kensen.

"Take him away!"

In less than half an hour, everyone in the Ji family villa, except for the father, had become cold corpses; after tonight, the title of Kensen, the King of the Underground, would surely rise to fame once again.

After Ye Lin finished testing his combat power and just returned to the entrance of the Ji residence, he smelled a thick scent of blood.

Ye Lin's pupils shook violently; even though he had hidden at the Ji residence, Kensen still wouldn't let him go? Even destroying the Ji family just to capture him?

Ye Lin seriously suspected that Kensen already knew some secrets about him, which was why he was so insane.

This Kensen... perhaps he could not be left alive!

Just as Ji Lingyu was about to open the door to go in, Ye Lin stopped him and said meaningfully.

"You... had better prepare yourself mentally."

"Boss, what are you talking about?" Ji Lingyu hadn't noticed anything wrong and pushed the door open to walk in; the moment he stepped inside, he froze in place.

Ye Lin looked in, and before him was a terrifying scene like an Asura purgatory.

Everywhere were the corpses of the class-advancers and servants hired by the Ji family, with severed limbs and arms scattered across the ground; many faces were filled with terror, as if they had encountered the most terrifying evil spirits before they died.

"Bo... Boss, did we go to the wrong place? This doesn't seem like my home." Ji Lingyu pulled an ugly smile and took a few steps back.

He tried to find a negative answer from Ye Lin, but Ye Lin's serious expression told him that this was indeed the Ji residence, the home he had lived in for over a decade.

Ji Lingyu rushed in, stepping through the blood and sea of corpses as if he had gone mad.

"Dad! Dad, where are you!"

Ji Lingyu shouted in terror; he wanted to find his father quickly, yet he was afraid of seeing his father's corpse in this mountain of corpses and sea of blood.

When he reached the door of his father's bedroom, Ji Lingyu's heart was in his throat; he pushed open the door as if resigned to his fate.

The room was very clean, as if it had been scrubbed, and only a severed hand clutching a gun lay quietly on the table.

Ji Lingyu rushed over; he had already recognized that it was his father's hand!

Underneath the severed hand was a piece of paper, with a message written in blood.

"If you want to save your dad, bring Ye Lin to the underground black market to find me. Every six hours, I will cut a piece of flesh from your dad."

After reading it, Ji Lingyu went completely insane.

"Kensen! I'm going to kill you!"

Ji Lingyu shrieked, intending to go and fight Kensen to the death; in the underground black market, the only one with the ability to kidnap his father was the King of the Underground, Kensen!

But just as he reached the door, he was kicked back by Ye Lin.

"Get out of the way! Don't stop me!"

Ji Lingyu looked at Ye Lin with eyes full of fury; now, whoever stopped him from saving his father was his enemy.

Seeing that Ji Lingyu had lost his reason, Ye Lin couldn't be bothered with words and slapped him across the face; Ye Lin did not hold back at all, and with a *slap*, half of Ji Lingyu's face swelled up instantly.

"Uncle Ji is still alive because you haven't been caught by Kensen yet. Believe me, the moment you fall into Kensen's hands, you and Uncle Ji will both die immediately."

Ji Lingyu gritted his teeth, tears falling uncontrollably.

"Ah!!!"

He pounded the ground forcefully, as if to vent all the frustration in his heart.

"Then what should I do? What can I do?" Ji Lingyu let out a desperate roar, like a trapped beast driven to a dead end.

"Find a safe place to hide and don't get caught; leave everything else... to me," Ye Lin comforted him.

"Leave... leave it to you?" Ji Lingyu raised his head blankly.

"Have you forgotten? Once a boss, always a boss. Uncle Ji is in danger, so how could I stand by and watch?" Ye Lin said with a smile.

"Boss..." Ji Lingyu's tears burst forth, and a strong sense of guilt filled his heart.

He had been calculating against Ye Lin all along, yet Ye Lin had treated him with sincerity; how could he not feel guilty?

"Stop crying. I will bring Uncle Ji back. I will let Kensen know just how terrifying a Forbidden Spellcaster can be when they stop fearing death!"
