Chapter 36: Crushing the King of the Underworld!
"Immortal and indestructible? I’d like to see just how immortal and indestructible you really are!"
Although he had lost both arms, Kensen’s combat power was still terrifyingly fierce. He first kicked Ye Lin high into the air, then leaped up and delivered a heavy, powerful whip kick, smashing Ye Lin into the ground like a cannonball.
Boom!
Amidst the rolling dust and smoke, Kensen charged down again and stomped on Ye Lin’s body.
As a level 50 Berserker, even without using any skills, every punch and kick he landed was enough to deal fatal damage to the level 16 Ye Lin.
"Kid! You’re still too young! One of the great taboos of combat is revealing your own secrets to an enemy who hasn't lost their fighting strength yet!"
"Even if I, Kensen, have lost my arms, I am not someone a high school student like you can handle. I want to see how much lifespan you have to burn to dodge fatal attacks!"
Bang, bang, bang, bang!
Facing the now-incapacitated Ye Lin, Kensen showed no mercy this time, aiming every kick at his heart and head.
The Twin Yin-Yang Bracelets on Ye Lin’s wrists emitted a glow, beginning to repair his injuries, but the speed of the repair could not keep up with the speed of Kensen’s destruction.
Often, just as half of Ye Lin’s wounds were repaired, Kensen’s attacks would descend once more.
Under Kensen’s storm-like assault, Ye Lin’s body was soon stomped into a puddle of bloody, mangled flesh mixed with white bone fragments, looking horrifying.
The Twin Yin-Yang Bracelets were still glowing, but they could no longer repair Ye Lin’s body.
Kensen let out a long sigh of relief, exhausted and drenched in sweat.
He had just dealt Ye Lin at least a hundred fatal blows; he should be dead by any measure. He didn't believe Ye Lin could possibly have over two hundred years of lifespan left.
Kensen walked away panting, the pain from his severed arms making him gasp.
"Damn it! The Forbidden Spellcaster profession is just too bizarre. No wonder they’re short-lived! Serves him right!"
Kensen cursed under his breath. If word got out that he had his arms cut off by a high school student, his reputation as the King of the Underworld would be completely ruined.
People wouldn't dare say anything to his face, but who knew what they would say behind his back.
Thinking of this made Kensen incredibly annoyed. Just as he was fuming, he felt a chill strike from behind. Kensen turned his head abruptly, a star-trace flashed by, and a sturdy leg flew high into the air.
Kensen froze, standing blankly on one leg, staring straight at Ye Lin, his face filled with confusion.
It seemed he hadn't expected Ye Lin to still be alive; the massive shock made him temporarily forget the pain of his severed leg.
"Didn't expect that, did you! I lied to you! You’re too young—how can you believe the words of an enemy?"
Ye Lin chuckled. Kensen had lost both arms and one leg; he didn't believe Kensen could still win with only one leg left...
Bang!
Kensen viciously delivered a heavy headbutt to Ye Lin, making him see stars.
But this time, he chose not to continue attacking Ye Lin, instead hopping away quickly on his single leg.
Terror emerged in the depths of Kensen’s eyes; he was truly afraid!
The Ye Lin before him was like an unkillable cockroach. If this continued, he, with only one leg, might really die at Ye Lin’s hands!
"Trying to run?!"
"Forbidden Spell—Eye of Eternal Frost!"
Ye Lin sacrificed his own eyeball. His vision went black, and in that final moment before blindness, he cast a glance at Kensen’s remaining leg.
Kensen had only hopped a few steps when ice crystals began to condense on his last leg, eventually freezing him entirely in place.
"No! No!"
Kensen tried to struggle, but he had no arms and no other leg; he couldn't break free.
After his vision returned, Ye Lin walked toward Kensen, dragging the Star-Fall Heaven-Trace. The blade scraped against the ground, emitting a crisp clinking sound and throwing off a series of sparks.
"Speak, where is Uncle Ji?"
Before coming here, Ye Lin had searched many places but hadn't found a trace of Father Ji. He assumed the man must have been locked away by Kensen in some secret location.
Kensen gritted his teeth, refusing to speak.
Ye Lin didn't say much; he just snapped his fingers, and a flash of purple-red fire landed on the ground, burning Kensen’s left arm into ashes.
"No!"
Kensen’s eyes were wide with rage. If he could find a healing-related profession while still having the severed arm, there was a possibility of recovery, but if the arm was gone entirely, there was truly no way.
Big shots capable of regenerating severed limbs were not people Kensen could reach. Ye Lin had effectively cut off his path to recovery.
"From now on, you can only be the one-armed Kensen." Ye Lin’s expression was calm.
"You!" Kensen was so angry his eyes turned red. "I said it—will you let me go if I talk?"
"Kensen, Kensen, you know I love to tell the truth."
Ye Lin smiled faintly.
"I came here just to save Uncle Ji. Killing your subordinates won't cause trouble because you’ll handle it, but if I kill you, the problem becomes huge. I’m not stupid enough to kill the King of the Underworld in Qingcheng; that would be a sky-shattering disaster."
"But just because I’m cautious doesn't mean I don't dare to do it. Uncle Ji has shown me great kindness, so think clearly—don't push an honest man like me too far!"
As he said this, a cold glint flashed in Ye Lin’s eyes, looking quite convincing.
Kensen hesitated, but now that three of his limbs were gone and the last one was frozen into an ice sculpture, he had no room for choice; he could only choose to trust Ye Lin.
"Rest assured, that old guy surnamed Ji isn't dead; he just lost an arm. He’s locked in the prison outside," Kensen said.
Hearing this, Ye Lin breathed a sigh of relief. If Father Ji had died, he would have felt a bit of guilt and sadness.
Regardless of Father Ji’s motives, the man had spent real money and effort to treat him well. That was a kindness he had to acknowledge.
Swish!
The sharp Star-Fall Heaven-Trace turned into a streak of light, carrying starlight as it slashed toward Kensen’s neck, intending to decapitate him.
Sensing the cold killing intent, the hair on Kensen’s body stood on end.
"You were lying to me after all! You beast!"
Kensen didn't care about his last leg anymore; he twisted his waist with all his might, and the frozen leg snapped off. He rolled onto the ground, looking wretched, but he had dodged Ye Lin’s fatal blow.
"Such a strong will to survive, but it’s useless."
Ye Lin raised the Star-Fall Heaven-Trace to strike again. He would never allow anyone who knew the secret of his immortality to live in this world.
Kensen now had no limbs left and no room to resist. He wore a bitter smile and closed his eyes in despair.
He never expected that he, the dignified King of the Underworld, would end up dying at the hands of a high school student.
Just as Ye Lin was about to harvest Kensen’s life, a sharp, feminine shout came from the doorway.
"Stop! Let him go, or I’ll kill this man surnamed Ji right now!"
