Chapter 100: G-Virus Stable Enhancement Serum
Night gradually descended upon No Man's Land, simulated by artificial lights mimicking the changing sky.
Upon returning to the spaceship, Li Yu felt as though the Sand Worm had grown slightly, though he could not be sure if it was just his imagination.
"Hunter, look, this little guy has grown..." Li Yu stood before the glass enclosure, observing it carefully. However, the numbers on the tank's smart weight scale had not changed.
Its overall weight remained the same, yet Li Yu distinctly felt that the creature was bigger.
"You were only out for a few hours... Could this thing really grow that fast?" Hunter also leaned in curiously, staring at the ugly bug.
"It does look like it grew..." Hunter sounded slightly uncertain as well.
The two men debated for a while over whether the Sand Worm had actually grown, but failing to reach a clear conclusion, Hunter returned to his designated corner.
Ever since he piloted the spaceship last time, he had been inexplicably gloomy.
The two crew members on the spaceship both had their own preoccupations.
Mo Duo, on the other hand, could be read at a single glance, or perhaps she simply refused to hide her thoughts.
'Sigh... it's hard to lead a team...' Li Yu sighed inwardly. He did not pry further and instead opened the communication line to Black Skull.
Li Yu: "Latest news! Extremely important!"
Black Skull: "???"
Li Yu: "One hundred thousand Star Coins!"
The communication officer of Black Skull wore a face full of curses, but considering their previous transaction, he still reported it to his superiors.
The one hundred thousand Star Coins arrived in his account, and an image was sent over!
It was a picture of Li Ping standing tall and proud, followed by green-armored soldiers. Due to the angle of the shot, it looked exactly as if Li Ping was leading the group.
Black Skull: "Green-Clad Knights!? This guy is actually from the Aaron Civilization. So that explains it!"
Li Yu: "You know them?"
Black Skull: "Half a year ago, we raided one of their resource transport fleets. I never expected them to hold such a grudge. It is truly despicable."
Li Yu: "Exactly. We stole from them fair and square using our own skills, and they actually dared to seek revenge. How incredibly despicable!"
Black Skull: "You are absolutely right, brother! Any interest in joining us? Murder, pillaging, slave trading—we commit every evil imaginable!"
Li Yu's expression gradually turned strange. He looked at the other two and said, "Black Skull is inviting me to join them..."
"Huh?" Hunter looked completely bewildered. Inviting an enemy to fight by their side?
'Hmm... it's not entirely out of the question...' Li Yu pondered. If there was any hope of retrieving his pawn, Li Ping, it would be best to get him back.
If there was no hope... then amen to him...
Moreover, this Emerald Key clearly had complementary components, which might very well be in the hands of the Green-Clad Knights.
More importantly... he could continue to conceal his true identity, preventing the Star Glory Empire from meticulously unraveling the clues and tracking him down.
He might even be able to shift the blame and slander Black Skull in the process... Tsk, tsk... He could achieve multiple gains with one action, so why not?
Li Yu: "I have long heard of the illustrious reputation of Black Skull. I would naturally love to join you."
Black Skull: "That is fantastic, brother. Keep gathering information. Our fleet will arrive in No Man's Land very soon."
"When we get there, we are going to beat the living crap out of those green-armored bastards..."
It seemed that Black Skull was also using him as a pawn, treating him as a free intelligence scanner. Having been swindled out of six hundred thousand Star Coins over two transactions, Black Skull no longer wanted to be an Easy Mark.
'We'll see who is the real pawn here...' Li Yu did not mind at all, continuing to type his reply: "Understood, I will definitely keep investigating!"
............
In the vastness of the Starry Sky, an astronomical number of stars shone brightly. The Universe was infinitely expansive and boundless, to the point where most lifeforms spent their entire lives moving within a limited region.
Faced with this unknown, dark expanse, lifeforms were far too minuscule and insignificant. It was almost impossible to encounter anything out in the Star Sector; desolation was the eternal theme.
Out there drifted a fleet of silver-white ships. Each vessel was incredibly magnificent, and every single one bore a golden five-pointed star symbol engraved on its hull.
The Main Ship in the very center was thousands of meters long. The force field on its surface emanated a hazy glow, making it look like a steel behemoth capable of devouring everything in its path.
Inside the Main Ship... a Commander dressed in a silver-white uniform stared at a massive Holographic Screen. The wrinkles on his face were deeply entrenched, as stubborn and unyielding as weathered stone.
The Holographic Screen was divided into thousands of smaller segments, each one constantly flashing with complex streams of data.
"Starlight General, the Empire has agreed to Dark Star's demands. You are now ordered to rendezvous with him and head to No Man's Land."
On the giant Holographic Screen, a figure rapidly enlarged, speaking in a cold, indifferent tone.
"Cooperating with a Marauder is truly a disgrace!" the Starlight General scoffed coldly, his eyes as sharp as an eagle's.
The person's expression remained unchanged as they emphasized, "This is an order from the Empire. The coordinates have already been sent to you."
"I know!" the Starlight General barked. He then issued a command, "All forces, hear my order! Prepare to Warp to the coordinates!"
"Yes, sir!"
It was only after he spoke that the soldiers across the entire fleet sprang into action, moving with methodical precision.
"Additionally, Captain Zeth, who formerly served in Augu, recently appeared in the Pale Land. According to our records..."
"The two Interstellar Humans who kidnapped the Imperial Noble were seen alongside him."
Hearing the long-dusted name of Augu, the Starlight General finally showed a slight fluctuation in emotion. He stared intensely at the person on the screen.
"So the reason you never issued a Wanted Order for Zeth was so you could keep track of their movements at all times..."
Not issuing a Wanted Order for Zeth was not just to keep Augu hidden.
While others did not know that Zeth was in Li Yu's team, the Star Glory Empire knew perfectly well. By tracking Zeth, they could easily pinpoint the whereabouts of Li Yu and Mo Duo.
"Their spaceship entered No Man's Land, but then it vanished, and Zeth disappeared as well."
"What are you implying?" The Starlight General furrowed his brows deeply.
"Find them and detain them secretly. Do not alert the outside world. We need this excuse to set up our plans in No Man's Land," the person finally revealed their true intentions.
If Li Yu were captured by outsiders and handed over to the Star Glory Empire, they would instantly lose their excuse, and Interstellar Public Opinion would turn severely against them.
Some enemies of the Star Glory Empire might use the opportunity to stir up trouble.
Therefore, Li Yu must never be captured by anyone else!
"I understand..." The Starlight General remained expressionless as he terminated the communication. The entire fleet initiated a Warp and vanished from the sector.
......
Inside the spaceship, Li Yu was currently looking at the newly refreshed System Log.
[Day Two – Resident Evil World: After escaping Raccoon City once again, you all began to evade the pursuit of the Umbrella Corporation.
Because of your presence, your teammates did not die, except for the male ones...
The Zombie crisis has already begun to spread, but you care nothing for it. In your heart, there is only Alice.
You fabricated a story... essentially adapting Alice's own experimental experiences, making them sound even more tragic.
Alice felt pity for you, sensing a kindred spirit. In the entire world, only the two of you truly understood each other.
Even though your life on the run was extremely rushed, you two still managed to find the time for an in-depth exchange. Because it took too long, it caused great dissatisfaction among your teammates.
Even in your post-coital clarity, you slaughtered all the pursuing Umbrella Corporation soldiers, leaving none alive...
However, the agile Jill suddenly caught your attention...]
[Obtained Green Title – Zombie Rider. Extract?]
[Obtained Special Item – G-Virus Stable Enhancement Serum. Extract?]
Li Yu stared at the final line, 'caught your attention...', unable to let it go for a long time. Didn't it just say he was in a state of post-coital clarity?
And was that part about taking too long and causing his teammates' dissatisfaction for real?
Regarding all the male teammates dying, he was certain Clone One had played a huge part in it, perhaps even orchestrating their deaths from the shadows.
'As expected of you!'
While complaining internally, his hands were not slow in the slightest. He extracted both items.
[Green Title – Zombie Rider: Exerts an inexplicable deterrence over Zombies.]
Li Yu felt too exhausted to even criticize this title. Alice had indeed been infected by the virus, but she had clearly adapted to it. How could she be called a Zombie?
[Obtained Special Item – G-Virus Stable Enhancement Serum (D-rank): Can stably enhance a lifeform to D-rank (Note: Due to its increased stability, this serum will not grant any additional Superpowers).]
It had been a long time since he last saw a ranked item. His previous items like Megatron's Command, Starscream's Heart, and Saint Mother's Cost didn't have any.
Although they were powerful, the lack of a rank always made it difficult for Li Yu to estimate their true value.
He didn't get this drop after fighting the Tyrant yesterday, but today, after getting involved with Alice, it actually dropped. This was simply too outrageous.
Li Yu grasped the tube of green liquid. This was exactly what he needed. His own progress in developing his Gene Chain was far too slow.
Many days had passed since he fused with the Violet Lightning Mouse Gene Chain, yet he was still stuck at the D- rank. It was agonizingly slow.
The Path of Genetic Evolution had always been a game for the rich. Fusing with a Gene Chain was merely the beginning.
To rapidly develop a Gene Chain, one had to recklessly throw vast amounts of money into various devices and potions.
A Mechanical Cyborg could just install modules and use them directly, requiring at most an Energy Block. Upon reaching higher tiers, they could essentially become self-sufficient.
However... once the Path of Genetic Evolution reached the higher stages, the required expenses would increase exponentially.
Some lifeforms, in order to quickly boost their Gene Chain Development Progress, even went as far as researching targeted Gene Chain fusions tailored specifically to their own genetic traits. The Star Coins spent on such endeavors would skyrocket by tens or even hundreds of times.
Unable to even wait to deploy Clone Two, Li Yu directly equipped the elite Talent, Infected One - Gold, and immediately injected the G-Virus Stable Enhancement Serum.
Hunter stared speechlessly as Li Yu pulled out a tube of liquid from who-knows-where and casually injected it into his own body.
Li Yu's body went stiff as an explosive mix of excruciating pain and intense numbness erupted within him. His footing grew unstable, and he staggered forward.
His back slammed into the glass tank as he gasped heavily for air. The Sand Worm darted over and pressed against the glass wall, looking as if it wanted to share his pain.
He gritted his teeth tightly. Every nerve ending in his body transmitted a churning, tearing agony to his brain, and every blood vessel throbbed violently!
His Cells were forcefully being filled to the brim, screaming that they couldn't take any more, that they were going to break. Thick purple electric arcs burst out from his entire body, vastly more powerful than before.
If there had been scanning instruments present, they would have detected a distinct change in the rhythm of his life force—it was becoming much more surging and vigorous.
After a while, the pain finally began to subside. It felt as if a century had passed. Li Yu let out a long breath and wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.
Feeling his thunderous heartbeat, a seemingly endless surge of power erupted from the depths of his body. He felt as though a single punch could shatter a star—an illusion born from the sudden, massive explosion of strength.
