Chapter 128: Xenomorph Egg
"Who is that?"
All the Molcasar soldiers could not help but ask themselves this same question.
They had never witnessed such combat power, akin to a God of War. Even the elite squad members they usually revered like divine spirits fell far short of this level.
"Kill!" Mole, as a veteran captain, naturally knew this was the perfect opportunity. He clenched his fist and roared, his voice echoing across the entire camp through the loudspeakers.
"Kill! Kill! Kill!" The myriad of Molcasar soldiers experienced a surge in battle intent, their dim eyes brightening once more.
Kelly could only make them stiff for three seconds, but Li Yu ensured they never went soft!
Individual heroism was always the best medicine to stimulate male organisms.
The massive Thunder Beasts were their nightmare. When these terrifying star beasts first appeared, many Molcasar people thought the end of the world had arrived.
This was the limitation of their civilization. For large-scale civilizations, these Thunder Beasts were pets, materials, and food; the only label they did not have was destroyers.
"Your Excellency Li Yu is truly invincible!" Li Ping clenched his fists, wishing he could transform into the Light Blade in Li Yu's hand to become the sharp weapon that cleared away everything in his path.
"When did he get that armor?" Mo Duo was somewhat puzzled. She sifted through her memories but could not find any corresponding event.
Hunter pretended not to hear, but the turbulent emotions in his heart betrayed him.
Mo Duo suddenly cast a chilling gaze. She did not mind that Li Yu had secrets; after all, she had secrets of her own.
But what kind of secret was it that a creepy older man like Hunter could know, yet she could not?
Kelly's eyes were radiant, flashing with a sharp light. She looked at Hunter, who was covered in cold sweat beside her, and asked softly, "Uncle Zeth, his name is Li Yu?"
Hunter was speechless. 'Now she remembers to call me uncle.'
He subtly cast a glance at Mo Duo and answered cautiously, "Yeah... but we all prefer to call him by his nickname, God Slayer."
'With such a childish nickname, you couldn't possibly still be interested, right, Mo Duo? This is the last thing I can do for you!'
"God Slayer..." Kelly muttered the name, her face radiating a peculiar glow. "What a fitting name."
To Molcasar, wasn't the Thunder Beast a god-like existence? For Li Yu, who had killed it, to be called the God Slayer was not an exaggeration at all.
Hunter remained silent. He felt a gaze as cold as an icicle sweeping faintly over him.
"Indeed..." Li Ping chimed in, feeling as if he had found a kindred spirit. He sighed in admiration, "For Your Excellency Li Yu, it is indeed very fitting."
Kelly rejoined the fray, and the massive numbers of Black Lizards could not hold back the Molcasar soldiers, whose morale was heavily boosted.
Meanwhile, Li Yu's figure became the focal point of the battlefield. Wherever he appeared, the surrounding Molcasar soldiers felt their blood surge, feeling even more invigorated than if Goddess Kelly had spared them a glance.
The black-boned lizards were gradually slaughtered to the last. A large number of Molcasar soldiers took off their helmets and lay on the ground without any regard for their image, panting heavily, their bodies drenched in sweat.
Even with the help of their armor, the prolonged battle had placed an immense burden on them.
The logistics department began to sweep the battlefield. Massive amounts of Black Lizard corpses were loaded onto the transport vehicles; these remains still held a minor amount of value.
However, the Molcasar civilization lacked the capability to process them, so they could only be sold to interstellar merchants, whom Mole had contacted.
This was one of the few sources of external income for the Molcasar civilization.
"We survived again..." several soldiers leaned against each other, so exhausted they did not even want to open their eyes. One of them spoke with a sigh of relief.
"We get to see tomorrow's sun again..." another soldier echoed.
"Sigh... I wonder when these battles will ever end. There are barely any people left in Tan City behind us. Why are we still defending this place?"
Another soldier questioned with a hint of resentment. As soon as these words were spoken, the rest of the soldiers fell silent. After a long while, someone whispered, "Just... follow orders. Even His Excellency the Governor General is staying here with us."
The soldiers each had their own thoughts weighing on their minds. Suddenly, a brilliant White-Gold Armor stopped right in front of them, its white cape fluttering and snapping in the wind.
"You... you... you..." One of the soldiers tried to speak several times but failed to form a complete sentence, showing just how excited he was.
"Hello, sir... may I ask if you need anything?" Another soldier took over, asking nervously. Other nearby soldiers cast envious glances their way, yet no one dared to approach.
The radiant White-Gold Armor gave no response. They looked at each other in dismay, unsure of what was happening.
"Mr. Li Yu? Or Your Excellency God Slayer?" Kelly walked over on her long, delicate legs. Her white robe was somewhat torn, leaving large patches of skin exposed.
She attracted the gazes of a large number of surrounding soldiers. No matter how exhausted they were from the battle, they did not mind getting slightly stiff to show their respect.
The numerous lecherous smiles even lightened the atmosphere considerably.
This was one of the main reasons Kelly dressed this way. If she were merely eye candy, it might have had the opposite effect.
A piece of eye candy wandering through a battlefield would not boost morale; instead, it would likely invite terrible incidents.
But she was also one of Molcasar's elite captains, a female God of War. While the people of Molcasar maintained their respect for her, they did not mind using the sight to relieve their loneliness.
This granted Kelly immense popularity among the Molcasar soldiers.
"My goddess... has she fallen for him too?" a soldier cried out dramatically, then quickly pivoted, saying,
"If it's for Your Excellency God Slayer, I don't mind at all."
The title of God Slayer had received high recognition among the soldiers. As for Li Yu? Who was Li Yu? How could such an utterly ordinary name match that peerless God of War?
"Haha... who do you think you are? Nobody cares about your opinion!"
The surroundings immediately erupted in roaring laughter, and the mocked soldier did not mind in the slightest.
Li Yu still showed no reaction. He was currently reviewing the Task Log.
Just moments ago, Clone One had finally completed his mission.
[Mission: Acquire Xenomorph Egg - Completed - Duration: Eight Days]
[Xenomorph World - Mission Summary: You were discovered in Antarctica by a scientific expedition. They were exploring a trial ground left behind by the Predator Empire.
You disguised yourself as an explorer, and they did not suspect you. Relying on your humorous and witty personality and handsome appearance, you quickly hooked up with a female doctor.
Thanks to the female doctor's strong recommendation, you became a peripheral member of the expedition team and entered the Predator Empire ruins together.
You wore a helmet and were exceptionally cautious. The expedition members were surprised by your caution, paying it no mind and even mocking you.
They reached the altar. The appearance of the Xenomorph Eggs made them amazed and excited, but their excitement turned into sheer horror only when the Facehuggers broke out of their shells and lunged onto their faces.
These hatched Xenomorph Eggs could no longer serve as the mission objective, and the Predator warriors had already arrived.
When the first Xenomorph burst out of a chest, you were thrilled. Pinching the little creature, you ruthlessly killed it right under the terrified gazes of the others.
You sensed the arrival of the Predator warriors. Even though they had turned invisible, they could not evade your perception. The surging purple electric arcs spelled their doom.
You found the location of the Alien Queen. Although very reluctant, you still picked up a frozen Xenomorph Egg.
Mission objective acquired... Mission concluded. Recycling in Progress for Avatar. Cooldown time: 24 hours.]
[Special Item Acquired - Xenomorph Egg: As a unique species that undergoes continuous evolution, they are distinct from the Zerg and lean more towards elitism.
Note: As the last Xenomorph Egg of its race, it will hatch into an Alien Queen.]
Li Yu reviewed the Task Log, noting that it basically only recorded the primary events while glossing over many other details.
Furthermore, what the hell was up with "although very reluctant"?
The description for the Xenomorph Egg was pretty much as he had imagined.
For this type of species, the concept of "preventing extinction" was deeply rooted in their genes. It was not at all surprising that the final egg would undergo metamorphosis into an Alien Queen.
With too many people around, Li Yu did not take out the Xenomorph Egg for a closer look. He glanced up at Kelly, then looked down at the soldiers.
"Hello..." he responded, leaving those soldiers slightly stunned. What a long reaction time; their inquiry had been made a full three minutes ago.
It was a complete departure from the fierce, flashing blade light on the battlefield. It oddly gave off a cute sense of contrast.
"Just call me Li Yu..." he then answered Kelly. God Slayer or whatever... was way too eighth-grade syndrome. Regardless, he would never use it to refer to himself.
Kelly smiled faintly, thrusting out her magnificent chest. "Are you interested in heading into the city for a drink later?"
"Just for a drink?" Li Yu asked in return.
"What else?" Kelly tilted her head, a puzzled expression forming on her face, yet her eyes brimmed with a teasing smile.
"Haha..." A loud booming laugh drifted over from the side. Mole pushed his way through, seamlessly nudging Kelly aside as he threw an arm over Li Yu's shoulder. "Thank you so much for this time."
"If it weren't for you, our losses here would have been disastrous."
As Mole walked Li Yu away, Kelly's face darkened, gnashing her teeth in frustration!
As a C-class Esper, her standards were incredibly high. There was no one in the entirety of Molcasar that caught her eye. Someone finally appeared, but judging by her father's intentions, he was clearly opposed to it.
"So, is there any reward?" Li Yu's armor slowly receded, turning back into ordinary clothes as he asked naturally.
"I've already taken a huge risk by letting you guys hide here..." Mole muttered in a low voice.
"Then we'll consider this time's help as calling it even." Li Yu nodded, then quickly added, "Your daughter just invited me out for a drink..."
"Absolutely not!" Mole declared resolutely. "Do you not know your own situation? If you hit the bullseye in one shot, our entire Molcasar will be buried alongside you."
"Fuck..." Li Yu could not help but curse. "Why are you thinking so far ahead? It's just a simple drink... How did this loop around to having kids?"
Mole glared at him. "If you weren't thinking about it, how did you know I was hinting at rolling in the sheets..."
Li Yu remained silent.
He understood clearly in his heart. Mole was cracking jokes and going off on tangents for only one purpose: don't ruin my daughter.
What a pitiful esteemed father...
