Chapter 161: Just Because I'm a Good Person?

~15 min read 2,811 words

The fleets cruising the outer navigational channels of the Inuit Hub had already been notified, and their extraterrestrial probes focused on the streets near Kansa.

They had discovered Kansa, the Purple Crystal Civilization Royal Descendant currently being hunted down.

Unfortunately, the fleets couldn't launch an attack on the Inuit Hub; their mission was to defend against dangers from interstellar space.

They could only continuously urge the ground escort team and request assistance from the Tyron Chamber of Commerce.

After all, the Inuit Hub was funded and built by the Tyron Chamber of Commerce, and they maintained their own armed forces here.

The destruction within the Inuit Hub had naturally caught the attention of the Tyron Chamber of Commerce. If the incident had remained confined to the Garrison Management Office, they might have let it slide.

However, the scale of the battle had continuously expanded. It grew massive, catching many innocent bystanders in the crossfire. A calculation error by the orbital AI had even caused a massive chain collision of flying vehicles, and the chaos was still ongoing.

The management of the Tyron Merchant Guild - Inuit Hub Branch received the news immediately and convened an emergency meeting.

On the holographic screen, comprehensive footage of Kansa and the Sun-Hunter Squad continuously flickered past.

A vast amount of data regarding Kansa populated the screen. The Tyron Chamber of Commerce's database was incredibly detailed.

"...According to the headquarters' files, the person who abducted Kansa is the exact same individual who kidnapped Prince Sean a while ago: Li Yu..."

The holographic screen flashed, bringing up Li Yu's profile.

The administrators of the Inuit Hub didn't know much about Li Yu. After all, the Star Glory Empire was vast, with countless events happening at any given moment.

They had only heard rumors about the kidnapping of an Imperial Noble. However, as the administrators of the Tyron Merchant Guild - Inuit Hub Branch, they knew this man was merely a pawn.

He would likely die in an obscure spot in interstellar space someday, his corpse gnawed on by rats.

"He isn't dead yet?" one of the managers asked with keen interest.

Someone explained, "Not only is he alive, but he also recently disrupted the Stargate project, resulting in the dismissal of a Radiant Star-grade Fleet General."

The attendees of the meeting perked up. The Star Glory Empire possessed numerous fleets; even they didn't know the exact number of direct and indirect naval forces combined.

However, Radiant Star-grade Fleets were quite rare. The fact that an insignificant figure like Li Yu could stir up such a massive storm left them rather astonished.

"That isn't the main point..." One manager shook his head, pulling the conversation back on track. He swiped at the air in front of the screen, pulling up the profiles of the Sun-Hunter Squad.

"According to the data, these individuals belong to a notorious mercenary group known as Flowing Kill, operating around the Empire's Northern Frontier Border."

"However, cross-referencing with headquarters' database reveals that these people are actually the Sun-Hunter Squad, directly subordinate to Prince Saster."

"Saster?" Several managers frowned upon hearing the name.

"This guy again."

The group felt a severe headache coming on. Since the Inuit Hub was a transit center co-built by the Tyron Chamber of Commerce and the Amethyst Civilization, they were naturally well-acquainted with Saster and had even dealt with him a few times.

"That bastard is far too arrogant, relying entirely on the backing of that noble..."

They shook their heads and stopped themselves from speaking further. Discussing Saster was fine, but mentioning the noble backing him was a dangerous game.

"How is the Amethyst Civilization reacting to this?" they asked, swiftly changing the subject.

"The Purple Crystal Garrison hopes we will intervene. Of their two B-Tier Lifeforms, one is currently stationed in the fleet, while the other's response has been completely ambiguous..."

"None of them want to provoke a madman like Saster..."

"I suggest we wait and see. We will dispatch personnel to evacuate nearby travelers and contain the battlefield, but we will not directly intervene in the fight."

"Furthermore, notify the guardian fleets and grant them authority to fire on the ground. Whether they actually have the guts to pull the trigger is their own business."

The managers chimed in one after another, aiming to minimize losses without offending anyone or taking on any unnecessary blame.

Down below, the members of the Sun-Hunter Squad wore ferocious expressions. Gripping their giant guns with both hands, they sprayed thick beams of light that easily punched through the metal walls, relentlessly sweeping the area as they chased after Kansa.

Just a moment ago, when Nobus the Troll was busy dealing with the nearby flying vehicles, Kansa had seized the opportunity to slip out of their encirclement, using the dense cluster of skyscrapers as cover to dodge their attacks.

Fortunately, Saster's orders were likely to capture him alive. This restricted the use of highly destructive weapons, tying Nobus's hands to a certain extent. Otherwise, Kansa would have been killed long ago.

Dense beams of light sheared through the structures. Kansa couldn't avoid a few of them in time, and the strikes slammed heavily into his Blue Bird armor, leaving widespread scorched marks across its surface.

Even though the Blue Bird was heavily specialized for agility, weaving through such a torrential downpour of attacks was incredibly taxing.

A large swarm of flying vehicles suddenly arrived bearing the emblem of the Tyron Chamber of Commerce. A fire of hope ignited in Kansa's eyes. The Tyron Chamber of Commerce was the primary investor here; there was no way they would ignore the massive damages caused by such a large-scale battle.

His desperate efforts to forcibly widen the zone of destruction hadn't been in vain.

"Attention, nearby travelers. Due to an unforeseen emergency, please evacuate this area immediately. Do not approach until the situation has been resolved."

"Attention, nearby travelers. Due to an unforeseen emergency, please evacuate this area immediately. Do not approach until the situation has been resolved."

However, the flying vehicles showed absolutely no intention of intervening in the fight. They merely hovered around the perimeter, broadcasting continuous warnings.

"Damn it!" Kansa had lost count of how many times he had cursed out loud. Any shred of contempt he had previously harbored toward Saster instantly vanished.

Whether he was smart or not, he was still the terrifying Saster who commanded the Pathos Fleet!

Boom!

A blinding blast of light grazed straight between his legs, striking a distant skyscraper and erupting into a massive explosion. Kansa broke out in a cold sweat. Mumbling a curse, he hurriedly refocused and darted out of the way once more.

Just then, a wave of white freezing mist swept over from a distance like a howling hurricane. Unable to resist the torrential force, Kansa was violently thrown into the air and smashed into the ground dozens of meters away.

The Blue Bird armor blared with incessant alarms. The combat panel flashed low-temperature warnings from all sectors. The suit's joints cracked and groaned stiffly as shards of ice steadily flaked off.

Nobus had found the perfect opening to strike, severely crippling Kansa and slowing his movements to the point where escaping was now virtually impossible.

"You are out of options. No one is coming to save you," Nobus declared. He raised a hand, and the howling chill rapidly condensed into a gigantic palm. The dazzling ice crystals caused the surrounding temperature to plummet sharply as the massive hand descended toward Kansa.

He would not afford Kansa another chance to run.

Despair flashed in Kansa's eyes. Taking a deep breath, he roared furiously, "You're still not showing up?! I never should have trusted you, damn it..."

Swish!

A streak of frigid light flashed by. Before Kansa's bewildered gaze, the giant icy palm—mere inches from crushing him—was cleanly cleaved down the middle, shattering into a spray of frozen rubble across the ground.

A figure wearing armor interwoven with platinum patterns descended from the sky, landing directly in front of Kansa. He wielded a massive grey ten-meter Ship-breaking Blade, his pristine white cape brushing lightly against Kansa's face.

At that exact moment, Kansa felt a sudden urge to burst into tears. Gazing at Li Yu, who had dropped from the heavens to save him, he felt an overwhelming desire to pledge his absolute loyalty.

'Wait... that blade looks awfully familiar...' The thought briefly flashed through Kansa's mind.

"Were you trying to curse at me just now?" Li Yu slightly turned his head. His face was entirely concealed by his visor, hiding any trace of emotion.

"N-No..." Kansa replied awkwardly.

"Heh..." Li Yu shook his head with a cold sneer. The atmosphere in the area fell into an eerie stillness due to his sudden intervention.

"Who is the one trying to kill you?" Li Yu interrogated.

"Saster..."

"And who is the one saving you?"

"You..."

Li Yu sharply retorted, "Saster is the one trying to kill you, and I am the one saving you. Yet instead of cursing him, you curse me?"

"Why? Is it just because I'm a good person?!"

Kansa hung his head in sheer shame, though something felt strangely off. Even though Li Yu's words sounded logically sound, there was an unmistakable weirdness to them.

"It's you?!" Nobus glared at the newcomer. His expression shifted slightly as he recognized the suit of armor.

It was unmistakably the armor worn by the leader of the Prismatic Yellow-Eyed Remnants! But how could that be possible?!

He discreetly made a few hand signals, prompting the other four members of the Sun-Hunter Squad to begin quietly repositioning themselves.

The Titan Symbiotic Armor could freely alter its external appearance. Just a minor adjustment to its details would make it look like an entirely new suit.

To completely prevent anyone from linking Kansa's rescue back to Li Yu, he had no choice but to pin the blame on his Gelo persona.

"So you recognized me? Fine, I won't hide it anymore!" Li Yu snorted coldly. "Saster has provoked the wrath of heaven and the resentment of men with his ruthless exploitation of his subordinates. Since he acts without mercy, don't blame me for acting without loyalty!"

Nobus couldn't process the sudden shift in logic, and his expression turned exceedingly grim. He had never expected that their squad had been under this guy's surveillance from the very beginning.

Being toyed with by a measly survivor from the Prismatic Yellow-Eyed Remnants ignited a boundless fury in his heart.

"How laughable! A bunch of stray dogs actually dare to oppose Prince Saster!" The red and blue pigments on Nobus's skin flared vibrantly. Howling frost and molten magma simultaneously spread across the ground, instantly filling the area with a suffocating, lethal aura.

"We Prismatic Yellow-Eyed Remnants will never be slaves!" Li Yu roared furiously, charging forward and swinging his massive grey Ship-breaking Blade.

The armor on his back split open as the modified thrusters—salvaged from Yu Jin—spewed roaring flames. He shot forward with blistering speed, blurring into an arc of white light.

Nobus's pupils contracted in sheer disbelief; he never imagined Gelo's strength could be this immense. He forced magma to erupt from the ground, creating thick, crisscrossing pillars of molten rock to completely seal off Li Yu's path of advance.

But it was utterly useless. The Titan Symbiotic Armor rampaged straight through the obstruction. The Ship-breaking Blade shrank to about three meters in length and was held defensively across Li Yu's front, forcefully severing everything in its way.

Nobus brought his hands together, summoning massive clouds of white frost from all directions. The frigid mist rapidly converged on Li Yu's position, quickly condensing into a solid block of ice that firmly trapped him within.

Kansa's expression shifted drastically. 'No way, he got trapped just like that?'

Bang!!

A tremendous impact rattled Kansa's armor as an energy cannon blasted him away, sending him crashing violently into a nearby metal wall with a deafening thud.

Without warning, the other four members of the Sun-Hunter Squad had completely flanked him, delivering a devastating cheap shot.

The four operatives closed in from all four directions with impeccable tacit understanding. They relentlessly barraged him with calculated attacks, perfectly suppressing Kansa without putting his life in actual jeopardy.

Kansa grumbled a curse, struggling profusely to dodge their assault. Even without Nobus, these Sun-Hunter Squad operatives were more than enough to give him absolute hell.

After all, these individuals were all C-Tier Lifeforms, and their flawless coordination significantly multiplied their actual combat prowess.

'Li Yu... you have to hold on! And then hurry up and save me...' Kansa couldn't resist glancing over at the nearby battle.

The momentary lapse in focus cost him dearly. Another blast from an energy cannon struck him, blasting him away once again. His expression turned incredibly grim as electric arcs violently sparked across his armor; it was on the verge of complete failure.

Meanwhile, Nobus stared at Li Yu encased in the ice crystal, refusing to lower his guard. He constantly poured out thick layers of frost to reinforce the icy prison, yet his efforts quickly proved futile.

Crack! Crack!

Spiderweb-like fissures aggressively spidered outward from within the pristine ice block. No matter how much cold energy Nobus applied, it could not halt the splintering.

Boom! The entire block of ice exploded into tiny shards. The Ship-breaking Blade had completely turned a scorching crimson red, and without losing a fraction of momentum, it hurtled straight toward Nobus's face.

Clang! A deafening metallic ring echoed with a violent shockwave. Nobus swiftly crossed a pair of short blades—one white, one red—in front of his body, barely parrying the strike of the searing red Ship-breaking Blade.

His muscles bulged tight, thick veins protruding furiously across his skin. Terrifying forces collided violently through their weapons. Scorching heat and freezing cold constantly warred against each other, emitting thick plumes of hissing white steam.

Clack! Li Yu's free hand rapidly assembled and transformed, shaping into a heavy energy cannon aimed dead center at Nobus's head. A brilliant blue energy radiance rapidly coalesced within the barrel.

Nobus mentally cursed at the shameless tactic. Utilizing the combined strength of both muscular arms, he forcefully diverted the towering Ship-breaking Blade to the side, forcefully wrenching his entire body out of the direct line of fire.

Boom! A thick energy beam narrowly grazed Nobus's ear and slammed into a distant high-rise, detonating in a massive explosion.

Even though it was only a brief charge rather than a full-power volley, the destructive force was nothing to scoff at. Nobus's ear was severely charred black, more than half of it completely vaporized.

His eyes rapidly filled with bloodshot veins, and his breathing grew heavily labored.

Li Yu casually swung the Ship-breaking Blade in his hand. "Why do you guys from the Troll Tribe never like wearing armor?"

Nobus wasn't wearing any armor, perhaps because the suit would severely restrict his ability to manipulate both ice and fire elements, or maybe due to some entirely different factor.

"Roar!" Nobus let out a low bellow. His hulking frame erupted with a speed completely unbefitting of his sheer mass. The twin short blades, forged from highly specialized materials, practically transformed into blazing afterimages in his hands.

A chaotic symphony of clashing metal echoed relentlessly as ice shards, electric arcs, and fierce sparks sprayed wildly in every direction. It was only with the temporary computational support from Claptrap that Li Yu could barely keep up with Nobus's blistering speed.

After all, his opponent was a genuine B-Tier Lifeform, while Li Yu himself was entirely reliant on the formidable enhancement of the Titan Symbiotic Armor.

Clang! The red short blade masterfully deflected a slash from the Ship-breaking Blade, clearing the way for the white blade to viciously hack toward Li Yu's chest. A blinding purple light flared up, and Nobus immediately met with tremendous resistance.

Li Yu felt a sharp sting bloom in his chest. Instantly, the mechanical mechanisms on his back extended outwards, producing several mechanical arms equipped with light blades that viciously slashed toward Nobus.

Nobus's expression shifted slightly. Thick layers of ice armor materialized across his body, successfully blocking the torrent of descending light blades.

At the same time, the armor on Li Yu's soles spewed roaring jets of flame as he launched himself head-first toward Nobus at blinding speed. Forced onto the defensive, Nobus had no choice but to leap backward.

In a split second, the deflected Ship-breaking Blade violently reversed its arc, chopping viciously toward Nobus's chest. Nobus hastily crossed his red and white twin blades to block the descending greatsword.

However, the Ship-breaking Blade quickly retracted layer by layer, smoothly bypassing the parrying twin blades. Then, with lightning speed, it extended once more. Under Nobus's horrified gaze, the blade cleanly tore through his dense ice armor and ruthlessly sliced deep into his abdomen.
