Chapter 363: The Ubiquitous Reformers
"Careful!" A sharp shout came to Mia's ear. Based on the prompt from the joint Combat System, she immediately bent down.
A six-meter-tall ferocious wild beast was pouncing towards her, black smoke lingering on its claws.
A purple blade light flashed from behind, and this wild beast was immediately split in two. Blood spurted out, and internal organs spilled all over the ground.
The three of them had a Tacit Understanding, so words of thanks were unnecessary. Mia stood up, raised the Energy Rifle in her hands, and fired a shot directly at a tiger rhino charging from the distance.
Bang!
Flesh and blood scattered!
There were still many squads like theirs on the battlefield.
There were even several elite assault squads approaching the Gust Laboratory.
Those squad members were all B-Tier Lifeforms, far stronger than them, and were also the core strength of this mission.
The three of them were momentarily stunned. An unbelievable guess surfaced in their hearts. The wild beasts from all directions all headed towards the center of the dust and smoke.
Without hesitation, Mia and the other two shot into the smoke, clearing out the approaching wild beasts.
As they neared the center, they finally confirmed their inner guess. The one who fell to the ground was the commander of this mission.
"General Dego!" Mia shouted loudly and rapidly rushed in front of Dego.
The Combat Armor on his body had already been beaten to pieces, exposing large patches of skin covered in crisscrossing black claw marks.
The flesh and blood near the wounds emitted a rotten smell. The faceplate shattered, and Dego spat out a mouthful of black blood, struggling to stand up.
He looked at Mia close at hand, sorrow flowing in his eyes. Mia was the daughter of his best friend, and his best friend had died to cover him during a certain mission.
From then on, taking care of Mia became his duty and responsibility, but it seemed it would end here.
Kadori's Strength was completely inconsistent with the information. During the half year he disappeared, he completed the most important Metamorphosis among A-Tier Lifeforms.
He became an A2-level lifeform. Coupled with the half-mutated combat style highly revered by the Borg Civilization, Kadori's combat power far exceeded his.
In other words, this mission was already destined to fail. An A2-level lifeform was completely not something he could contend with.
He felt some self-blame. Logically speaking, he shouldn't have acted so rashly.
But his overwhelming victory over the Borg fleet gave him some confidence, wanting to complete the mission in one vigorous effort, but he encountered an accident as a result.
The other two squad members also rapidly came to their sides, looking around vigilantly, clearing out the endless stream of wild beasts surging over.
Kadori glanced at the ground but didn't continue to pursue and kill Dego. He had already beaten Dego into serious injuries, leaving him without much combat power, and had left a tracking mark, so he wasn't afraid of him escaping.
He looked up at the battleships in the sky. Right now, the threat of those battleships far exceeded Dego.
If damage was caused to the Laboratory, who knew what kind of Unexpected Trouble Gust would whip up again.
Dego reached out his hand. Mia's faceplate opened, her face already covered in tears. Dego wiped away the tear stains for her, wanting to say something, but only sighed.
Then his gaze condensed. Using Mia's armor communication, he issued an order: "Attention everyone, mission canceled. The enemy's Strength exceeds estimations."
"Next, the battleships will launch Escape Pods towards this planet. Whether you can escape depends on yourselves."
Most of the squads fighting in close combat were stunned, completely not expecting this unexpected command.
Rumble!
A battleship in the sky exploded. The rest of the battleships shot streams of light in all directions; they were exactly Escape Pods.
"You guys should leave!" Dego pushed Mia away.
Mia tightened her lips but couldn't help saying: "Uncle Dego, leave with us, maybe there's a chance."
"There is no chance..." Dego shook his head decisively: "That wild wolf left an Aura on me. At his level, unless I leave the Gilbert Galaxy immediately, he can track me."
Mia held tightly onto Dego, unwilling to part. Dego looked at the other two, "Bailey, Sman, take your captain and leave immediately!"
"Yes!!"
The other two didn't have as deep an emotional connection with Dego. Reason gained the upper hand, and they immediately took Mia and retreated from here.
Looking at the departing Mia, various scenes of their past interactions surfaced in his mind. Dego took a deep breath and looked at Kadori, who was destroying the battleships.
His only value now was to block Kadori, allowing the battleships to launch enough Escape Pods.
...
Watching the gradually retreating enemies, Gust in front of the Holographic Screen breathed a sigh of relief. Under normal circumstances, the Amethyst Civilization would station an A-Tier Lifeform here to handle accidents.
But not long ago, the A-Tier Lifeform stationed here was urgently recalled and sent elsewhere to alleviate the anxious situation.
If it weren't for Kadori, the Gust Laboratory would probably have really been breached today.
"Thank goodness..." Gust said softly. He glanced at another screen, where a youngster was curled up in a corner.
His eyes were dazed for a moment. As if he thought of something, Gust said coldly: "Wanting to leave isn't that simple."
He pressed a red button on the Dashboard. A metal door near the Laboratory slowly opened. What first appeared in the pitch-black room were pairs of Red Eyes.
Accompanied by low roars, a large number of wild beasts covered in Metal Armor rushed out. They were far more terrifying than ordinary wild beasts, possessing specially made long tails, wings, giant claws, and multi-functional attachments.
Various detection equipment, as well as modified high IQ, allowed them to complete various unbelievable tasks.
These metal wild beasts charged into the battlefield, while also taking on leadership roles, leading a large number of ordinary wild beasts to pursue and kill in all directions.
...
"This group of people failed." Li Yu withdrew his gaze. That person was almost treated like a punching bag by Kadori, completely without the power to resist.
Anthony added: "Kadori's Strength isn't that of an ordinary A-Tier Lifeform. The information on the Black Hole Network doesn't match it; they must have been Caught off guard."
Stanley still had lingering fears: "Fortunately, we had this group of unknown people go test the waters first, otherwise we would have been the ones caught off guard."
In the process of executing a mission, any unexpected situation could lead to a total loss.
Although Kadori's Strength far exceeded everyone's estimation, it was also impossible for him to be Li Yu's opponent.
But if this extra bit of resistance was present, it might just be enough to destroy the entire Gust Laboratory, while simultaneously reducing Li Yu's goal to ashes.
"The timing is good now, prepare to take action." Li Yu observed the battlefield situation and decided to act.
Originally, the success rate of attacking the Gust Laboratory was over 95%.
Although Kadori's Strength exceeded estimations, it couldn't pose a threat to him.
Now that the other party's attention was all on the suddenly attacking enemies, he could entirely take out the other party with ease.
.........
The wind whistled in Mia's ears. Her eyes were dazed as she was carried on Bailey's back, rapidly shuttling through the jungle.
Boom!
A Red Light Beam shot towards them from behind. Sman reacted quickly, activating an Energy Barrier to block this strike for Bailey.
"Damn it, what exactly are those wild beasts behind us!" Sman couldn't help Cursing Loudly.
Those wild beasts covered in Metal Armor were in hot pursuit. They also had many energy weapons on their bodies, and clearly had undergone genetic modification; their Strength was very strong, no less than theirs.
Bailey didn't speak and just ran head down. The Combat System suddenly issued a warning. Before he could react, a black shadow pounced at his face.
Bang!!
Bailey and Mia flew backward, rolling several times on the ground. Only then did Mia have some reaction, subconsciously springing up from the ground and adopting a vigilant posture.
Although she was filled with extreme grief now, her usual strict training still played a role, allowing her to face the current situation.
It was a giant wolf, very tall, covered in black armor, with a tuft of golden hair on its forehead that shone brightly.
This wolf seemed very unusual. It didn't rush to attack, but instead swayed from side to side, staring fixedly at the two of them.
The wind whistled as it shifted left laterally. A black blade light fell, slicing empty air.
With the sneak attack failing, Sman didn't take further action, but regrouped with Mia, staring vigilantly at this giant wolf.
"I feel this wolf is very unusual, be careful!" Bailey whispered.
Sman reminded: "We don't have time to tangle with it here, the wild beasts behind will catch up soon."
Mia looked around. Relying on the iconic diamond-shaped mountain peak not far away, she rapidly determined her approximate location.
She whispered: "Head south, that is a necessary path for the sightseeing route. There are high-voltage ion cables set up there that can fend off the wild beasts."
"Okay!"
The three-person squad had a Tacit Understanding, simultaneously pulling out Energy Firearms and aiming at the giant wolf in front of them.
However, an Energy Barrier flared up, failing to harm it in the slightest.
The three didn't hesitate, turning their heads and running. Playfulness flashed in the giant wolf's beast pupils, like a cat toying with a mouse.
Its figure was agile as it rapidly chased after them. Its speed was extremely fast, far exceeding the three.
However, it didn't launch a direct attack, but leisurely followed behind the three, occasionally firing Energy Cannons to tease them.
"This wolf is playing with us!" Bailey gritted his teeth.
"Ignore it." Mia shouted lowly.
Suddenly, the red Crystal on the giant wolf's neck flickered. Its figure paused slightly, and it astonishingly frowned in a humanized manner.
When it looked at the three again, its eyes were already filled with killing intent!
It opened its bloody maw, gathering golden Energy. A ray far more powerful than the Energy Cannons on its body shot towards the three.
"Careful!"
Sman, who was trailing at the very back, had his pupils shrink. He could only exert all his Strength to push the other two away.
Boom!
A violent explosion covered Sman. Mia and Bailey exclaimed simultaneously: "Sman!"
They rushed into the aftermath of the explosion and dragged Sman out. His armor had already been blown to pieces, his body charred black, but both breathed a sigh of relief because Sman was still alive.
However, the breath they just let out was sucked back in the next moment.
They saw that giant wolf slowly approaching them. Although the current situation didn't allow for much thought, the word "elegant" still involuntarily surfaced in Mia's heart.
This giant wolf's pace was too elegant, completely unlike a bloodthirsty wild beast.
However, in the next moment, this thought of hers vanished into thin air.
A giant claw struck. Mia raised her Metal Dagger to barely resist, but was directly swatted away, completely without the power to resist.
However, using this little bit of time, Bailey had already hoisted Sman onto his shoulder and fled towards the distance!
The giant wolf seemed to want to chase, but Mia bit her lip tightly. She had already lost Uncle Dego, she couldn't lose these two close friends again!
Even at the cost of her life!
Bang!
Without any surprise, she was once again swatted hundreds of meters away, lying on the ground. Her Combat Armor was deeply caved in, making her feel chest tightness.
A sense of powerlessness surged in her heart. She hated herself for not having the Strength to change all this, only able to watch helplessly as her friends died.
She forced her head up, and was suddenly stunned. What caught her eye was a black trench coat.
Someone? Where did a person come from here?
She forced herself to look up again, and was stunned once more. It was the people from that Spaceship?
How could they be here?
Mia couldn't react for a moment and whispered: "Run quickly, it's very dangerous here!"
The corners of Anthony's mouth cracked open, but he didn't laugh out loud to avoid Li Yu misunderstanding.
Stanley, meanwhile, was still reporting softly: "My Lord, the Jedi Squad is ready and can take action at any time."
"If you don't want to make a move, we can also handle Kadori."
Li Yu glanced at the young girl who fell in front of them and shook his head: "Handling Kadori won't take too much time, there's no need for you to take risks."
They had discovered Mia and the other two long ago, just hadn't taken action. He didn't expect that by A Twist of Fate, Mia would actually fall right in front of them.
What? Mia suspected she had heard wrong. What was this guy saying?
Handling Kadori won't take too much time?
That guy beat Uncle Dego into serious injuries, and Dego was already the most powerful lifeform Mia had ever seen.
Oh... now it should be Kadori.
And this person in front of her actually said he treated Kadori as nothing.
"Thank you, My Lord..." Stanley said respectfully.
And now, Mia finally reacted. This group of people really seemed far from simple!
A fire of hope rose in her heart, and she pleaded: "Save my companions, save Uncle Dego, I'm begging you..."
Rumble!
Roaring sounds came from the distance, battleships exploded once again, and Kadori's ferocious laughter spread very far.
The entire battlefield was completely reversed. Under the leadership of those metal wild beasts, most squads were being hunted down.
They could only grit their teeth and flee, forced to leave behind teammates on the verge of death one after another.
Anthony didn't agree or refuse, but looked at Li Yu.
Li Yu thought for a moment and inquired: "What faction are you from?"
Mia was slightly stunned, and hurriedly said: "We are people from The Reformers. The Reformers are dedicated to rescuing..."
Li Yu didn't listen to her finish, revealing a look of sudden realization, and said: "No wonder your style of doing things gave me a sense of deja vu. What is your purpose in attacking the Gust Laboratory?"
The battle in the distance was still continuing. Mia was somewhat anxious, but since she was asking for help now, she could only explain truthfully: "We came to rescue someone. Gust captured a Friend of ours earlier."
Li Yu raised an eyebrow slightly, stroking his chin. Thinking with his toes, this Friend was definitely not simple.
"No matter what, you have to take action against Kadori. Might as well sell a favor to The Reformers," Anthony whispered in the channel.
Li Yu was Noncommittal, and then revealed a warm smile, like the winter sun, and spoke to Mia: "The Reformers and I are good Friends."
