Chapter 65: Lending a Hand
Regarding how Xia En ended up here, the situation was quite complicated. At the very beginning, after being stripped of his Imperial Gene, he felt as though his entire world had turned completely gray.
He had been sent to a special containment planet to live out the rest of his days peacefully as a quiet piece of trash.
However, the Princess of the Night went through unimaginable hardships just to smuggle a single message in, hoping to rescue him.
He was immediately thrilled. 'My entire ethnic group has abandoned me, yet you still haven't given up on me. It really is true love!'
Moved to tears, he did everything in his power to cooperate with the rescue operation launched by the Radiant Council.
After a painstakingly long period, they finally managed to smuggle him off the containment planet. An untold number of Radiant Council operatives lost their lives to make that happen.
Following numerous covert layovers, he was successfully transported to this frontier planet. But right at that crucial moment, the extraction team meant to receive him met with an accident and was completely wiped out.
Left with no other choice, he was forced into hiding, using a superficial identity to work as a doctor.
And it was precisely during this stint as a doctor, interacting with so many different people, that he suddenly had a complete epiphany. To hell with love—it was all just a matter of profit.
"This..." Li Yu scratched his head. "Why are you telling me about your idiotic experiences?"
He had spent half the night just listening to Xia En's broken sob story.
Xia En, who had been wallowing in deep sentimentality, nearly choked to death upon hearing Li Yu's words.
"You!" Seeing that Li Yu genuinely possessed the ability to get him out, he could no longer hold anything back. "Right now, various prominent conflicts are tearing the Interstellar Alliance apart from the inside, and resources across the known universe are nearly depleted."
"Furthermore, the newly risen Star Cluster Alliance is covetously staring at us. The current interstellar situation is incredibly tense. My personal matters are small, but they could very well serve as the fuse that ignites everything."
Li Yu wore a strange expression, looking at him as if he were a complete fool. "No wonder your feelings were played with."
"You definitely will not be any kind of fuse. And even if you were, someone would just piss on it to put it out."
"Forget it. Hunter, you wake him up..." Li Yu waved his hand, too lazy to say another word.
............
Right at that moment, the Dark Star Main Ship, the Ghost Squad, the Mithril Church... and several other unknown factions all jolted in sudden alarm.
High above the Capital of Barren Star, a void fissure materialized out of thin air, and pitch-black Flying Vehicles slowly emerged one after another.
These Flying Vehicles were shaped like water droplets and entirely black. Moving at extreme speeds, they shot off in a single direction.
"Quick, notify the Commander, she's making a move!"
"Track her!"
"Do not lose her under any circumstances!"
......
In an instant, every faction on Heavenly Desolation Star, both in the light and in the shadows, was completely stirred.
Just as she had predicted, there was no reason or Excuse that could mask this. The moment she moved, swarms of flies would catch the scent and come swarming.
"Why isn't she heading for the capital?"
"According to the data, the capital is the most likely location..."
"Forget about that, just keep tracking her."
Conversations like this were occurring across various factions. Meanwhile, Hunter and Xia En were still intensely debating whether a single individual could truly influence the interstellar landscape.
"...Five years ago, a war Hero of the Star Glory Empire Died inexplicably in his own home."
"It was almost entirely confirmed that the Radiant Council was the one behind it... So tell me, how did that whole affair end up fading away without a single sound?"
Hunter brought up yet another example... completely leaving Xia En Speechless.
Boom!
A faint tremor rippled through the room. The lights flickered unsteadily as dust drifted down from the ceiling.
'An explosion? And it sounds incredibly close...'
Li Yu frowned slightly... Subconsciously, he grew a little tense. At a critical juncture like this... surely nothing unexpected had happened.
"I will go out and take a look..." Mo Duo whispered.
"Mhm..." Li Yu nodded.
Boom!
Another tremor shook the area. This time, they could even hear the distinct noise, confirming it was right nearby.
Mo Duo glanced at him with an inexplicable look in her eyes. Li Yu stared right back, asking in confusion, "Aren't you going?"
Mo Duo was left utterly Speechless. She walked out of the Basement, and faint sounds of gunfire and chaotic clamor began to drift down.
"Aren't you worried that something might happen to Mo Duo?" Hunter finally asked the question that Mo Duo had clearly wanted to ask.
"Then how about you go instead?" Li Yu retorted.
Hunter instantly shut his mouth, refusing to say another word.
A moment later, Mo Duo returned with a cold expression. "Someone is attacking the Blue Sky Building. They are likely trying to use this chaotic opportunity to loot something."
"Who would be so bold? Isn't Blue Sky Genetics a massive chain?" Li Yu asked, puzzled.
"No, Blue Sky Genetics is a local Company on Heavenly Desolation Star. They sell Gene Chains to the public, but their scale is limited, capping out at E-rank Gene Chains," Hunter explained.
"It looks like the people from Thorn Flame. I think I caught a glimpse of Taotie," Mo Duo said, sounding slightly uncertain.
"Thorn Flame?" Li Yu, who originally had zero interest, suddenly had his eyes light up.
"It should be them. Why are you so excited?" Mo Duo looked at the practically glowing Li Yu.
"Thorn Flame is an Old Friend of mine. Since we have crossed paths, I have to go lend a hand." Li Yu clearly remembered that this damn organization still had a ten-million Bounty on his head.
"You two keep an eye on this kid. If he tries any little tricks, just knock him out," Li Yu instructed. Then, he added, seemingly casually, "People like us with no Strength and no background shouldn't let ourselves become blinded by greed."
This was a blatant warning directed at both of them. Although the two had preliminarily gained his trust, they still needed to be kept in check.
"Got it!" Mo Duo snapped back in annoyance. This guy's wariness was unbelievably heavy.
Hunter, on the other hand, did not feel anything unusual about it. This kind of behavior was perfectly normal. In fact, if Li Yu had not warned them, he would be the one Trembling With Fear right now.
Flipping open Xia En's Silver-White Holy Spear, he saw there were still three silver bullets engraved with special Runes left inside. It looked like Xia En had already gone through quite a few.
Waving his hand, the Purple Sniper, which had been standing guard in the corner, leaped onto his body. Amidst a mechanical clattering sound, it transformed into a form-fitting Armor. He then dug out one of Xia En's coats and draped it over himself.
As the main doors swung open, the blazing light made him subconsciously narrow his eyes. The Basement was located diagonally across from the Blue Sky Gene Tower.
At this moment, a massive hole had been blasted through the heavy steel lockdown gates on the ground floor of the Blue Sky Building, and several Dark Star Flying Vehicles were hovering right there.
There were numerous corpses scattered across the ground, indicating that a fierce battle had taken place with the Dark Star Flying Vehicles. However, the vehicles showed no intention of pursuing anyone.
After all, they were not true maintainers of order. As long as things did not descend into absolute chaos, it was fine by them.
Many nearby residents had poked their heads out, their faces filled with terror, yet completely unable to suppress their burning curiosity.
Just as he reached the ground floor of the Blue Sky Building, several scarlet Cannon Barrels immediately locked onto him. Li Yu pointed toward the interior, gesturing that he was not going to cause a scene and simply wanted to go inside.
The Dark Star Flying Vehicles did not attack him, merely watching him as he entered the Blue Sky Building.
Orange-yellow bullet casings littered the floor, alongside the corpses of Blue Sky Building security guards and Thorn Flame members alike. The first floor was a scene of a completely one-sided massacre.
Li Yu tilted his head up, able to clearly see the bursts of Fire and hear the agonizing wails constantly erupting from the floors above.
