Chapter 186: Lingyun Gang
He hadn't even waited for Jiang Cheng to reply when the other side kept talking to himself: "I originally didn't want to find anyone else, but my brother and his group went into the mountains. Otherwise they'd just pick anyone and could finish this task for me in minutes. No choice, I have to make do and look for someone else."
"I've heard of you before; everyone says your Gunmanship is excellent, but your strength is too weak—only Level One. Yet just now you broke through to Second-level. With that and your Gunmanship, I think we have a great chance to complete this mission. So, what do you say, want to join? We'll split the loot fifty-fifty."
Jiang Cheng frowned slightly.
The tone the person in front of him used made him feel a bit uneasy.
But the mission the other side described sparked some interest in him.
Just as he had calculated before, to earn 110,000 in less than half a month, he'd need to spend four or five hours each day guiding others.
Whether that many people would place orders each day was an unknown; even if they did, he felt his tongue would be worn out.
If he could finish a single mission, even with a fifty-fifty split, earning 100,000 wouldn't be hard.
Of course, before that he needed to find out what the mission actually was.
"Oh, you mean the mission?"
Hearing Jiang Cheng's question, Qiu Feng spoke while pulling out a phone.
"It's to go to the Poor District and eliminate a gang called Lingyun Gang. Inside the gang there are two Second-level Force Warriors and a few Level One ones. If I went alone it would be difficult; the others are average, but you're pretty good, so I came to you."
Jiang Cheng took the phone, glanced at the content, and confirmed it matched what the other had said.
After reading it, he felt a bit dazed.
Some time ago, he was forced by the Iron Fist Gang into a corner and had to join the Dawn Society.
Now, he's a Level 3 Original Force Warrior, with a Firearm in hand; a petty Poor District gang seems not worth his attention any more?
"Speak up?"
Qiu Feng urged, "What are you standing around for? I'm here specifically looking for you; don't give me the cold shoulder."
"Sure, I can, but I have one condition."
Jiang Cheng read it several times, and after confirming it was correct, he looked up at him.
"What condition? The split ratio can't be changed."
Qiu Feng showed a wary expression.
"Fifty-fifty is fine, but to be clear, if the actual situation on site differs from what's written here, we'll have to renegotiate the split. If the difficulty is too great, I might back out," Jiang Cheng said.
"Alright."
Qiu Feng agreed without hesitation, thinking to himself that this guy's affairs were plenty, and the intel from headquarters couldn't be wrong.
"Then it's settled; in a moment I'll pull you in, and you just need to agree."
"Okay."
Jiang Cheng nodded.
After all, words alone aren't proof; partners will be displayed on the mission to prevent disputes over loot distribution.
Even a withdrawal requires mutual consent.
"Go back and prepare; we'll set off first thing tomorrow morning."
"Alright, but I don't have a car," Jiang Cheng shrugged.
"Huh? You don't even have a car?"
A hint of contempt flashed in Qiu Feng's eyes: "Fine, then we'll meet here first thing tomorrow; you'll ride in my car."
"Okay, thanks for the trouble."
Jiang Cheng finished speaking and turned to leave.
"Seriously, no car at all—can we really rely on this guy?"
Watching Jiang Cheng's departing back, Qiu Feng muttered.
But he had seen the other's Gunmanship, and his performance on the first mission had been acknowledged by the group.
If he hired other Second-level Force Warriors, they might not be stronger than him.
Hiring Level 3 or Level Four ones would reduce his share; with a rare mission, he needs to earn extra money.
"Hope this guy is a bit more reliable."
While walking on the road, Jiang Cheng soon received a mission invitation.
He didn't hesitate and chose "yes".
The earlier person was a bit arrogant, but money wasn't a big issue, and eliminating a gang whose highest combat power is only Level Two wasn't hard; a single Firearm was enough for him. As for the loot.
One hundred thousand shouldn't be a problem.
If all goes well, he could also acquire a couple of Secret Martial Arts.
"Lingyun Gang..."
Jiang Cheng muttered the three words, then let out a cold laugh.
When he returns from the Black Market, the people he has to kill aren't just Xiao Yuanqing, but also those from the Iron Fist Gang—each one, one by one, all to be eliminated! A day passes quickly.
That night, after getting home, Jiang Cheng talked about it at the dinner table.
Of course, he couldn't tell the truth, so he made up a reason, saying he had to go on a two‑day business trip.
Chen Sao and the others didn't think much of it, but kept reminding him to stay safe.
Early the next morning.
Jiang Cheng arrived at headquarters and met up with Qiu Feng.
Standing by a black SUV, Qiu Feng asked, "Can you drive?"
Jiang Cheng nodded.
"Really?"
Qiu Feng was first delighted, then a bit doubtful, "Didn't you say you didn't have a car?"
"Being able to drive and not having a car aren't mutually exclusive."
Me too.
Qiu Feng hesitated a moment, "Alright, since you can drive, you drive then; just follow the navigation."
"Alright."
Jiang Cheng didn't say much either.
The vehicle moved onto the main road, heading out of the city.
This mission's location, though also in the Poor District, was on the opposite side of the Iron Fist Gang, far away.
The gangs inside the Poor District, of course, aren't good.
But gangs like the earlier Wild Wolf Gang and the later Iron Fist Gang are alive and well; the Dawn Society seemed to ignore them, yet now has issued a mission targeting the Lingyun Gang.
Jiang Cheng couldn't help but wonder whether the Lingyun Gang had offended someone, or perhaps lost its usefulness and been abandoned.
He kept an extra precaution in mind, planning to inquire around after arriving before proceeding.
"Hey."
From the passenger seat, Qiu Feng's voice sounded.
"Cang Hai, what did you do before joining the Dawn Society?"
"Why are you asking that?"
"Just asking, I have nothing to do anyway, just killing time," Qiu Feng said indifferently.
Jiang Cheng shook his head.
"Damn, you're really no good."
Qiu Feng rolled his eyes.
"Sigh, I have no idea how my brothers' mountain harvest went; last month they earned several hundred thousand."
"Several hundred thousand?"
Jiang Cheng couldn't help but turn and glance at him.
The more I look, the more it feels this guy is bragging.
"Yeah, my brother—? A single trip into the mountain, earning one or two hundred thousand is as easy as eating and drinking for him," Qiu Feng said proudly.
"But how should I put it…"
Jiang Cheng said calmly.
"That's different for others; my brothers aren't like that. So, once we eliminate that gang, give me more of the loot, and when my brothers return, I'll introduce you to them, how about it?"
