Chapter 436: with translation of chapter title

436. Chapter 436: Contribution Points?

Upon hearing that, Jiang Cheng was somewhat speechless.

Although the other party was not wrong, the tone was too uncomfortable.

Compared with Chu Feng, who is a leader, his words and actions are not like that.

Nevertheless, the other party's request is reasonable, after all no place keeps idle people.

"If it's only these two requests, I can agree."

Jiang Cheng said.

"Alright, then let's discuss the compensation matters next."

Xu Juan picked up the paper and pen beside her.

"As a deputy director, you can receive 20,000 yuan each month, along with 200 Contribution Points. The money can be spent within the city, while the Contribution Points can be exchanged for cultivation resources. Generally, one Contribution Point is equivalent to ten thousand yuan outside."

"200 Contribution Points, that would be equivalent to 2 million?"

Jiang Cheng was slightly surprised at this point.

For a Grandmaster, this income is not very high.

However, for some Force Warrior or Spiritual Thought Master, this income is rather substantial, and it requires no risk; saying that one can earn money just by sitting in an office is not an exaggeration.

"Yes."

Xu Juan nodded, "But Contribution Points cannot be exchanged for money, and the reverse is also true."

"Understood."

For Force Warriors, they won't be idle; they each look for ways to exchange Contribution Points for money, and converting money into Contribution Points is roughly the same.

Jiang Cheng asked again, "Besides this, there should be some other benefits, right?"

"Hmm."

Xu Juan looked at Jiang Cheng and said, "You are a Refining Alchemy master. According to what we just discussed, after deducting costs, the profit of one furnace of Top-grade Awakening Pill is five million, split fifty-fifty. From each furnace you can receive 250 Contribution Points; based on two furnaces, that's 500 Contribution Points per day. These earnings can be settled on the same day, whereas the previous ones are calculated monthly."

Jiang Cheng nodded.

In fact, if possible, he could earn even more Contribution Points.

However, now that he has the Azure Jade Coiled Dragon Pendant, he no longer relies much on pills; once he raises the pendant's proficiency, the speed of his advancement will be astonishingly fast!

Of course, the Contribution Points earned from Refining Alchemy are also useful; for example, besides a sixth-grade basic defensive treasure and the Azure Jade Coiled Dragon Pendant, he basically has nothing else to show for.

If he truly meets an opponent of the same rank, most likely it would be close-quarters melee.

Generally, a fourth-grade treasure costs between ten million and ten billion, and at the top price of ten billion, that's one hundred thousand Contribution Points.

At 500 Contribution Points per day, buying a high-level fourth-grade treasure would take 200 days.

I have to admit, that's a bit long…

Seeming to read Jiang Cheng's thoughts, Xu Juan said, "If you find the Contribution Points insufficient, you can refine more pills each day. With your ability, acquiring a treasure for a Grandmaster would be much faster than most people."

Whether it's an illusion or not, Jiang Cheng felt the other's tone carried a hint of envy and jealousy.

"Alright, Principal, but for now I still intend to boost my strength; my Spiritual Power is still too low."

"Fine, as long as you can produce two furnaces of finished pills each day, that's enough," Xu Juan said without pressuring.

"By the way, Principal, besides this, are there any other ways to obtain Contribution Points?" Jiang Cheng asked curiously.

"Of course there are, but such methods aren't suitable for ordinary people, and I wouldn't recommend them to you." "What method?"

Jiang Cheng hurriedly asked.

"Become a Rebel Soldier and carry out various missions. The simplest is to inspect tunnels, as the threat to Hope City does not only come from above ground but also from underground Exotic Beasts adept at burrowing. There have even been several incidents where Exotic Beasts appeared inside the city and caused massive destruction, so tunnels need regular inspection.

Besides this task, other missions are mostly above ground, such as gathering medicinal herbs, obtaining Exotic Beast Material; more difficult ones include raids, rescues, and so on. Your experience is fairly extensive, so you should understand what these entail."

"Yes."

Jiang Cheng replied.

It seems that to earn more Contribution Points, he must undertake these missions; the greater the difficulty, the more Contribution Points are awarded.

"These missions all carry the risk of accidents, so I don't recommend someone like you to take them. After all, you can earn Contribution Points through Refining Alchemy without such risk, and we also lack talent like yours here," Xu Juan said calmly.

"Besides these, not everyone can become a Rebel Soldier."

"Why?"

"Because there are trials. As you can imagine, the mission process is rife with danger and combat, so a Rebel Soldier must possess extremely strong combat ability, at least ranking in the upper middle among peers of the same realm. Failing this standard means one cannot pass the trial to become a Rebel Soldier."

"I see."

Jiang Cheng suddenly understood.

In other words, it's a real-combat test.

Fortunately, this poses no great difficulty for him, as he can rely on his Panel to grind various martial arts to perfection.

"I understand, thank you for the explanation, Principal. If possible, I'd still like to give it a try," Jiang Cheng said with a smile.

On one hand, he doesn't want to be a logistics person staying behind all the time.

On the other hand, although a gentleman can wait ten years for revenge, the people of Bing Li and those gangs in the Poor District cannot be allowed to keep living, right?

Previously he had various reservations; he couldn't act against them lightly. Even if he did, he would have to strike covertly, otherwise his family would easily be implicated.

That kind of reservation, sorry, is gone now.

He is now a member of the Rebel Army, the kind who does this! Hearing Jiang Cheng's words, Xu Juan's pupils flashed with an odd hue, and her tone unintentionally softened a bit: "Students in the academy all aim to become Rebel Soldiers. Becoming a Rebel Soldier is an honor for everyone in the city. If you wish to take the assessment, I won't stop you."

"Thank you, Principal."

"It's nothing, but if you truly pass the trial and wish to go out on missions, you must be extra careful. That's all for these questions; do you have any other inquiries?"

"Not for now."

Jiang Cheng shook his head.

"If I have any later, I'll consult you, Principal."

Fine, then let's handle the paperwork; once everything is done, I'll have the director of the Alchemy Workshop—your superior—come to fetch you.

Alright.

Jiang Cheng let out a breath; from now on, he is a member of the academy.

Come to think of it, he never expected that after crossing over he would still enter the academy and even become the director.
