Chapter 261: and translation of chapter title

~27 min read 5,334 words

Feng Yi, upon hearing the sound of the two-stringed fiddle, immediately knew that the one who had fished him out of the Xiao River must be the Mount Heng Sect Leader, Mo Da.

The Five Peaks Sword Sect are as close as brothers; he could not bear to see others being provoked by him, so he played the qin, hoping he would cease his attack.

Feng Yi may not consider himself a good man, but he always repays kindness, so he had no wish to make things difficult for the Five Peaks Sword Sect and left the Jade Pearl Courtyard.

The sky was still dark; a crescent moon broke through the clouds, its clear light spilling onto the ground. Up ahead he saw a slender figure, robes fluttering, walking as if his feet did not touch the dust, extremely light and swift.

Feng Yi realized he was trying to lure him away; he gathered strength in his feet and pursued straight ahead.

Mo Da seemed to sense it; the star pellet darted between houses like a jumping bean, each time he landed he gave a light tap and his whole body shot far away, like an extraordinarily agile monkey leaping and playing; at his age to be this spry is astonishing.

Feng Yi's playful spirit rose; he thought, "I'll have a match with you then." With that thought, his steps became even lighter, like a shooting star streaking across the sky, he sped forward and quickly caught up.

Feng Yi turned his head and saw a withered face; indeed, this was the old man he had seen upon opening his eyes in this world.

They left the street, climbed a steep slope, and suddenly the view opened up to reveal a large lake; they came to the lakeshore and sat side by side.

By the lake, the trees were lush and dense, blocking out sky and sun; the moon's reflection shimmered on the water, the lake surface rippled slightly, silver light glimmering. Feng Yi gazed at the scene, his chest feeling refreshed.

Mo Da glanced at him and said softly, "Do you bear a grudge against the Five Peaks Sword Sect?"

Feng Yi replied, "No!"

Mo Da, startled, asked, "Then why do you make things difficult for them?"

Feng Yi smiled: "Just a passing whim!"

"What a fine passing whim!" Mo Da stared blankly for a moment, then said, "This is the utmost wisdom in leisure, unrestrained and natural; I admire it!"

Feng Yi laughed loudly: "There's nothing admirable about it. Anyone with my abilities could do the same."

Mo Da gazed at the lake, lost in thought, then said, "Strange, do you also know that my junior brother Liu's golden basin hand-washing gathering will not be peaceful?"

Feng Yi glanced at him and saw his face dim, his gaze unfocused, full of worry, the heaviness in his brows and eyes making his already gaunt visage seem lifeless; he sighed slowly, "It seems you have known this for a long time."

Mo Da appeared to be pondering something, his eyes fixed on the lake without blinking; after an unknown span of time, he let out a long sigh.

This sigh, he seemed to have held for a long time, only now releasing it.

After exhaling completely, he pulled a white scroll from his bosom.

Where Feng Yi's eyes fell, Mo Da had already unfurled the white scroll in the wind; black characters read: Ding Mian, Lu Bai, Fei Bin leading their forces have arrived.

Feng Yi blinked, his pupils contracting sharply, his gaze hawk-like: "Everyone says the Mount Heng Sect Leader is lacking in both literature and martial arts, inferior to his junior brother; Liu Zhengfeng's golden basin hand-washing is said to be due to your suppression, yet I never imagined you were secretly orchestrating great affairs. It seems you are the most formidable figure in the Five Peaks Sword Sect—remarkable, truly remarkable!"

Mo Da heard this, his expression shifting between surprise, anger, and helplessness, his gaze growing more distant, finally sighing, "You flatter me."

In the martial world, one follows the strong to live, the weak to die.

The Left Alliance Chief of the Mount Song Sect possesses formidable martial prowess, his ambition evident, endowed with great talent; his thirteen junior brothers are all first-rate talents in the martial world, and our four other sects cannot hope to oppose him—he seeks to merge the Five Peaks Sects, merely lacking a suitable pretext to intervene.

My junior brother Liu has befriended an elder of the Demonic Cult; tomorrow's gathering appears to be his death knell, the beginning of the decline of my Mount Heng Sect, and furthermore the opening of the Left Alliance Chief's plan to unite the sects.

As the Mount Heng Sect Leader, I possess little ability, yet I am not without worry; Liu's golden basin hand-washing ceremony is imminent, and to encounter a master of your caliber—rare as once in a century—is truly a blessing from heaven.

Feng Yi listened silently; his words pierced the essence, earning admiration. He smiled warmly, like a spring breeze in February, and nodded: "Sir, the sorrow in your qin music for the rivers and mountains stems from having already foreseen today's situation. I am merely curious: with your clear insight, though your forces are few and weak, why not speak to the other sect leaders and join forces against the Mount Song Sect?"

Mo Da shook his head: "Brother Tianmen of Mount Tai has a violent temper, regards death as home, and those who do not fear death are often unprepared, easily falling to the hands of villains."

The Nun Dingxian of the Mount Heng Sect, though highly skilled, pays no heed to worldly affairs, understands nothing of secular matters, harbors no scheming, always assumes the best of others, and cannot be entrusted with important matters.

As for Master Yue of the Mount Hua Sect, his scheming runs deep as an abyss, vast as the sea; though he bears the name of a gentleman, his actions...

Feng Yi interjected: "It gives the impression of a hypocritical gentleman."

Mo Da said hoarsely: "People in the jianghu say that behind closed doors, but as to how it truly is, I dare not speculate."

All in all, over these years he has taken only a dozen or so disciples, which runs contrary to his boastful words upon taking over the sect—to glorify Mount Hua—so how could I dare to consult him?

Feng Yi gave a slight nod: "Should such a matter be asked of the wrong person and leaked, it would surely invite immediate disaster."

Mo Da sighed deeply: "To inquire about extraordinary matters, one must seek extraordinary people."

Ordinary people facing our Five Peaks Sect may not say they are terrified, yet they dare not provoke us; you, however, are calm and composed, joking without restraint—such bearing truly impresses me.

Know that in recent years the Five Peaks Sword Sect has risen in the jianghu; though its foundation may fall short of the old orthodox sects like Kunlun, Kongtong, and Emei, its sect leader possesses high martial skill and upright conduct, his fame shaking the world. Even the heads of Shaolin and Wudang, upon seeing him, would not dare to be slightly remiss.

Feng Yi smiled faintly: "Sir, you overpraise me; you have saved my life, and if you have any orders, I will certainly not refuse."

Mo Da shook his head: "How could I claim to have saved your life?"

Even if you enter the water you will not sink, and with your internal breath you would revive on your own without me; yet meeting you is also my karmic affinity—I dare not seek repayment for a favor, I only hope that, if within your ability, you will save my junior brother Liu's life.

Feng Yi frowned slightly: "Is that all?"

Mo Da said: "That would be plenty!"

Feng Yi said: "You and Liu Zhengfeng have always been on bad terms; you could change your terms."

Mo Da shook his head and said: "The so-called estrangement between me and my junior brother Liu concerns only minor matters.

He comes from wealth and nobility, I from the marketplace, so our ways differ and we cannot converse easily; yet we were taught by the same master, both devote ourselves to music, and share the same tastes.

In our martial world, righteousness comes first; whether out of respect for our teacher or the brotherly bond of fellow disciples, I ought to save his life.

But the Mount Song Sect is powerful, and I truly lack the means to rescue him, which leaves me vexed.

Feng Yi stared at Mo Da, seeing his expression cold, devoid of joy or anger, and thought: "No wonder he never appeared in the original plot, only showing up like a ghost when Liu Zhengfeng was on his deathbed."

Indeed, his power falls short, and what can be done?

He then said: "If it is merely this matter, as long as Liu Zhengfeng does not acknowledge his association with Qu Yang, would that not suffice?"

Mo Da laughed: "You underestimate my junior brother; I know his nature all too well—he and Qu Yang are united by music, hearts in sync; even in death he would not deny his friend. Anyone who upholds righteousness would never engage in deceitful denial.

Moreover, the Mount Song Sect's plot is great, they come prepared; how could a mere denial resolve it?

Feng Yi sighed: "Indeed, some seemingly useless tactics can be extremely effective against those who value righteousness over life, and I do not know when the feud between your Five Peaks Sect and the Demonic Cult will end."

Mo Da gave a wry smile: "The grudge between the Demonic Cult and the orthodox martial world runs deep as the sea; just say that many of our Five Peaks Sect's predecessors have died at the hands of the Demonic Cult.

The Demonic Cult's venerable masters have also frequently fallen to our Five Peaks Sect; decades ago, the ten elders of the Demonic Cult attacked Mount Hua and perished in a single battle. You say, with such a blood-soaked grudge, how could it ever cease?

Reflecting on this, I truly understand my junior brother Liu's desire to retire from the jianghu."

Feng Yi smiled and said: "People say the jianghu is about human feelings and worldly affairs; in truth it is merely reciprocity of courtesy."

As for what you have said, I will do my utmost; then we shall see how his fate unfolds.

Mo Da stood up and said, "Actually my junior brother Liu lives quite freely; whether he stays in the jianghu or washes his hands in a golden basin, if he can take up and let go, he has already bested this old man by one move!" Saying that, he drifted away.

Feng Yi laughed and said, "Actually there's no real win or loss; it's just a matter of position. If you were to switch places with him, you might not be any different!"

Mo Da heard this, his body trembled slightly, and he sank back into darkness.

Feng Yi drank to drown his sorrows, and after also being weary, after Mo Da left, he unknowingly fell asleep.

He slept straight through until daylight was bright, Feng Yi faintly felt uneasy, and without thinking began to worry about the safety of Liu Zhengfeng's household, hurrying on.

Upon reaching the street, the buildings stood orderly, the thoroughfare bustled with people coming and going, and the clamor of hawkers never ceased to reach his ears.

"Make way, make way!"

hearing a burst of urging shouts, a group of yellow-clad men with long swords slung at their waists passed through the street; street vendors all made way, and even pedestrians fled at the sound. An elderly man, moving a little slowly, was flicked aside by one who raised his hand, toppling backward, his basket of fruit spilling to the ground—truly overbearing.

Only after they had gradually gone did a kind-hearted person help the old man up, sighing softly, "I don't know whom this lot intends to harm!"

"Alas, isn't that so? These jianghu folk only know how to brandish blades and swords; when will this life of fear and anxiety ever end?"

"Hush, don't speak—beware of inviting disaster from your mouth; these people strike with a raised fist and kill with a drawn sword, heedless of their own lives!"

Everyone's faces changed, and amid a chorus of sighs they gradually dispersed.

Feng Yi witnessed this scene, lifted his head to the heavens, filled with wistfulness.

He saw the white clouds drifting lazily.

This made him feel that his life was no different from the floating clouds in the sky—without support or reliance, ever-changing and unpredictable, unknown where it leads.

Thinking this, boundless loneliness and sorrow welled up in his heart, but then he immediately thought: "To ordinary people, the jianghu is just a great dark society!"

"Of course, the orthodox path is not all good people either."

"In this world, to survive one must continually grow strong, becoming invincible among men." Thinking this, his heroic spirit rose again; he pursed his lips and let out a long whistle, and the pent-up frustration that had no outlet poured out with that sound.

……

The Liu household's guests gathered like clouds; renowned martial artists came in untold numbers. Besides the guests who had already arrived the previous night, as noon approached another five or six hundred distant guests streamed in like a flow.

Among the notable were the Beggars' Sect's Deputy Chief Jin Ao, and the Old Boxing Master Xia of Zhengzhou's Liuhe Gate, who led his three sons-in-law, and so on.

Some of them knew each other, others had only heard of each other's names and never met; in the hall they greeted and introduced themselves, and the noise rose greatly.

Liu Zhengfeng greeted his disciples to arrange the seats, and personally invited the martial arts seniors to take the place of honor.

But that seat, in fact, had no one sitting in it.

According to the status and prestige in the martial world, as well as seniority and age, the Heavenly Gate Daoist, head of the Tai Shan Sect, ought to take the seat of honor.

However, because the Five Peaks Sword School alliance made the Heavenly Gate Daoist, Yue Buqun, Nun Dingyi, and others half-hosts, it was inconvenient for them to take the upper seat.

Moreover, last night several of them had nearly been taken down single-handedly by Feng Yi—how could they still have the face to sit in that seat!

Everyone knows that Feng Yi's remark "Mr. Mo Da, long time no see" indicates they are old acquaintances; Feng Yi only said that much and then stopped, otherwise…

As for the renowned figures who arrived later, though they had not suffered embarrassment, they also knew that the seat of honor required one who could awe the assembly.

No one considered himself virtuous enough to convince the crowd or skilled enough to overwhelm others, so none dared to take it.

This resulted in Liu Zhengfeng's earnest invitation, while the assembled senior masters all mutually deferred, and nobody would take the seat of honor.

Liu Zhengfeng was at a loss when suddenly he heard several gunshots, followed by the blaring of drums and music, and then the sound of gongs and shouts—clearly some government officials had arrived outside the gate.

The heroes hesitated briefly; Liu Zhengfeng went out to meet them and soon escorted an official wearing a government robe and a jade belt from the main hall inside, treating him with great respect. The official stood in the center, read the imperial edict—just some boilerplate—but everyone understood it appointed Liu Zhengfeng as a Deputy Commander, and the heroes' faces twitched slightly.

Jianghu folk have always been at odds with the imperial court; moreover, each possessed renown in the martial world and thought highly of themselves, they usually looked down on the government, and thus could not help feeling contempt for Liu Zhengfeng.

Some even gloated over his misfortune, thinking: "What's all this talk about the Five Peaks Sword School being a righteous and heroic sect? When faced with promotion and wealth, they still fawn over officials—what's the point of mentioning 'righteous and heroic'?"

Liu Zhengfeng saw the official off, returned to the hall, and found that still no one would take the seat of honor, so the central teacher's chair had to remain empty.

To the left sat the eldest, the Old Boxing Master Xia of Liuhe Gate; to the right sat the Deputy Chief of the Beggars' Sect, Jin Ao.

Although Jin Ao himself possessed no astonishing skill, the Beggars' Sect is the largest gang in the jianghu; its chief, Xie Feng, has high martial prowess and prestige, so everyone gives him three parts of respect.

The heroes took their seats; Liu Zhengfeng's disciples brought out a tea table draped in brocade, and one held aloft a golden basin shining brightly, a chi and a half in diameter, placing it on the table, the basin already filled with clear water.

Only then did one hear from outside the door three gunshots, followed by the rapid crackle of eight strings of firecrackers going off in succession.

Liu Zhengfeng walked laughing to the center of the hall, clasped his fists and bowed to all sides, saying: "Thank you, heroes and friends, for coming from afar; your journey has been hard. I, Liu Zhengfeng, truly feel honored, and am deeply grateful. Brother, today I will wash my hands in the golden basin; you surely already know the reason. From now on, concerning the rights and wrongs of the jianghu, please excuse me, Liu Zhengfeng, from further involvement."

Everyone had guessed that speech.

The jianghu and the imperial court are two systems.

Because in the eyes of the court, whether righteous or wicked, everything a jianghu person does is a crime!

One sentence: he who kills shall die!

But in the martial world it is not so.

One must know that what martial artists value most are the two characters "faith and righteousness"; compared, the character "righteousness" is indeed three parts more important than "faith".

Any upright gentleman of a legitimate sect, once he has spoken, his words must stand; some heterodox persons may commit every evil, but once they have spoken, they too stand by their words to the death.

Such behavior of going back on one's word for profit is looked down upon in the jianghu.

But the court?

It is said, the character for "official" has two mouths.

What is said with the mouth is one thing; what is done is another.

Therefore Liu Zhengfeng's taking office suffices to prove his resolve to withdraw from the jianghu.

The Heavenly Gate Daoist said, "Junior Brother Liu, everyone has his own aspirations; you have long wished to become an official, and we have no right to interfere.

But last night's affair will, within a few days, certainly become known throughout the world; our Five Peaks Sword School has been muddledly overturned by a wanton, nameless nobody, and once it spreads, it will surely cause the heroes of the jianghu to laugh at us.

Junior Brother Liu, you have always conducted yourself with chivalry and righteousness in the jianghu, earning deep respect from your peers; yet now, for a petty official post, you would humble yourself, wash your hands and withdraw—will our Five Peaks Sword School still have any face to stand in the jianghu?

The Heavenly Gate Daoist's temperament is naturally irascible, he thinks highly of himself, yet to be seized at random by Feng Yi is truly a rare, extraordinary disgrace in his life; adding that Liu Zhengfeng actually went to take office makes his anger even greater.

Liu Zhengfeng stared, but immediately understood; the Heavenly Gate Daoist is hasty, his anger not yet spent, he performed a bow to the assembled crowd and said, "I, having been taken in by my benevolent teacher and taught martial arts, have not been able to expand the gate of the Hengshan School; fortunately our sect has Master Mo presiding, I, Liu Zhengfeng, am ordinary and mediocre—adding or subtracting one Liu makes no difference.

From now on, I, Liu, resolve never to use the inherited martial arts to seek official promotion and rank; as for the grudges, rights and wrongs, and sectarian disputes of the jianghu, Liu Zhengfeng will most certainly not involve himself any further!

Nun Dingyi also said: "Liu Younger Brother, you must think thrice before acting!"

Liu Zhengfeng said: "Many thanks to Tianmen Senior Brother and Dingyi Senior Sister for their concern, but my resolve is absolute; if I go against this word, then let it be such a sword!"

With a flip of his right hand, he drew his long sword from the bottom of his robe; with both hands he bent it, and with a crack, he bent the blade until it snapped into two pieces.

He broke the long sword, and casually let the two broken pieces fall; with two soft hissing sounds, the broken swords sank into the blue bricks.

Seeing this, all the heroes were shocked; from the sound of the two broken swords sinking into the blue bricks, it was clear that this sword was a sharp instrument capable of cutting gold and jade; to snap an ordinary steel sword with hand strength alone, for someone like Liu Zhengfeng, is hardly surprising, but to effortlessly break a precious sword as if it were light, shows the purity of his finger technique, which is indeed the attainment of a first-rate master in the martial world.

The Tianmen Daoist coldly said: "What a resolute heart; outsiders run amok across the world, not looking at us, and even our own people are content to degenerate. Alas, the affairs of the jianghu, even my Tai Shan Sect has no face to concern itself with."

Nun Dingyi also sighed: "Since Liu Younger Brother's resolve is set, we ought not say more." She then sat down calmly.

Liu Zhengfeng clasped his hands and said: "Thank you for your indulgence." He rolled up his sleeves, smiled, extended his hands, and was about to place them into the golden basin. When his hands were about a foot away, he suddenly heard a harsh shout from outside the gate: "Hold it!"

Friends who often traverse the myriad heavens all know.

Liu Zhengfeng's golden basin hand-washing is, as the saying goes: "One sees honored guests awaiting an empty seat, but who knew it would be a nightmare arriving."

The Song Shan Sect's Qianzhang Song saying "Wait a moment" has already put Liu Zhengfeng's entire family on a countdown to death.

Liu Zhengfeng, however, was completely unaware; his heart startled, his hands stopped, he turned sideways and looked up, only to see four men in yellow shirts walk in through the gate; upon entering, they split to stand on either side.

Moreover, a tall man in a yellow shirt strode in head-high from among the four; he was precisely the Song Shan Sect's Zuo Lengchan's disciple, Qianzhang Song Shidada.

He held aloft a five-colored brocade banner, its surface studded with pearls and gems; whenever it unfurled, it emitted splendid radiant light.

Many who recognized this banner felt a jolt: "The order banner of the Five Peaks Sword Alliance's chief has arrived!"

Shidada walked up to Liu Zhengfeng, raised the banner, and said: "Liu Uncle, by order of the Five Peaks Sword Alliance's Left Chief, Liu Uncle's golden basin hand-washing ceremony, please pause temporarily!"

Liu Zhengfeng bowed and said: "I do not know what the chief intends."

Shidada said: "The disciple follows orders, but truly does not know the chief's intent; please forgive me, Liu Uncle."

Liu Zhengfeng said: "Back when our Five Peaks Sword Alliance was formed, we agreed to aid each other in offense and defense, to uphold the righteousness of the martial world; when matters concerning the five sects arise, everyone must obey the chief's orders."

This five-colored order banner was jointly made by our five sects; to see the banner is to see the chief, which is originally not bad.

However, my golden basin hand-washing today is my private affair; it does not violate the martial world's moral rules, nor does it concern the Five Peaks Sword Alliance; please tell your master, Shi's younger nephew, that Zhengfeng will not obey the banner's order, and ask the Left Senior Brother to forgive me." Saying this, he walked toward the golden basin.

Shidada swayed, rushed to block in front of the golden basin, raised the banner with his right hand, and said: "Liu Uncle, my master says, the Five Peaks Sword Alliance shares breath and branches; we are like brothers. My master issued this banner order both to preserve the alliance's affection and to uphold the righteousness of the martial world, and also for your benefit, Liu Uncle."

Liu Zhengfeng smiled and said: "This is clearly meant to make me, Liu Zhengfeng, go back on my word, so that heroes under heaven will laugh at me, saying I, Liu Zhengfeng, lack integrity—what good is there in that?"

Although he wore a smile, his voice trembled slightly; evidently this matter came quite abruptly, and even someone as battle-hardened as he could not help but be greatly shaken.

Just then, suddenly a sound of footsteps was heard.

Only to see a group of yellow-clothed people escorting over a dozen people out from the inner hall; they were actually Song Shan disciples holding daggers to Liu Zhengfeng's wife, his two young sons, and seven disciples of the Liu household.

Liu Zhengfeng angrily shouted: "What are you doing?"

Song Shan disciple Wada Ping said: "By order of the Left Chief, we are to watch over the Liu family and not let a single person escape!"

Liu Zhengfeng trembled with anger and shouted loudly: "How many disciples has the Song Shan Sect brought? Let them all show themselves!"

Hardly had he finished speaking when he heard shouts from the roof, outside the gate, the hall corners, the rear courtyard—front, back, left, right.

Dozens of voices replied in unison: "Song Shan Sect disciples greet Liu Uncle!"

The voices of several dozen shouted out simultaneously, loud and unexpected, startling all the heroes.

Turning his head, he saw over ten people standing on the roof, all dressed in yellow shirts.

In the main hall, however, everyone wore various attire, clearly having mingled in early on, secretly monitoring Liu Zhengfeng; among the over one thousand people who had come to celebrate, no one noticed.

Nun Dingyi was the first to lose her composure: "This... what does this mean? Too bullying!"

Shidada said: "Nun Dingyi, please forgive me. My master has issued the order; no matter what, we must dissuade Liu Uncle from the golden basin hand-washing, for fear he will not obey the order, thus we have inevitably offended."

Liu Zhengfeng shouted loudly: "Friends, today the Left Senior Brother actually threatens me thus, forbidding my golden basin hand-washing; I, Liu Zhengfeng, may have my head cut off, but my resolve cannot be shaken!" Saying this, he extended his hands toward the golden basin.

Shidada shouted: "Hold it!" He unfurled the banner to block in front of him. Liu Zhengfeng waved his left hand, struck his shoulder, sending him flying back; suddenly he heard a faint wind behind him, and two Song Shan disciples lunged forward.

Liu Zhengfeng, without even looking, kicked back with his left leg; with a thud, he sent one flying. With his right hand he grabbed and seized the chest of another Song Shan disciple, throwing him out.

He defeated three in succession, all in an instant; indeed this is the technique of a martial arts master.

But immediately a Song Shan disciple shouted: "Liu Uncle, if you don't stop, we'll kill your son!"

Liu Zhengfeng pondered briefly, then suddenly heard a light laugh from outside the gate; the laugh was soft and fine, yet refreshing and clear, audible to everyone.

However, to those who had personally experienced last night's Qingyu Courtyard, it was like a thunderclap ringing out in a clear blue sky, and everyone's faces changed.

The Tianmen Daoist even lost his voice, exclaiming: "What does he come for?"

Only to hear one person laugh loudly: "What mighty bearing, what fierce aura! Zuo Lengchan wants to be the martial world's hegemon; to kill a yellow-mouthed infant—what fun is there in that?"

"Better to first deal with the Shaolin Temple's Fang Zheng, this number one expert of the orthodox way, then take on the Demonic Cult's Dongfang Bubai; then, once a word is spoken, who would dare not obey?"

Everyone turned their gaze, and suddenly felt their eyes light up.

Only to see a man leisurely coming from the gate, his attire splendid, his face heroic; his every glance and step bore the aura of a dragon and tiger, he carried a wine gourd in his hand, and appeared unrestrained and worldly.

Ling Chong thought: "He's come; there will be a good show to watch."

The Song Shan Sect's overbearing tyranny, breaking into Liu's manor to seize his family—there is not a trace of orthodox bearing, yet they still claim to be the Five Peaks Alliance chief; he inwardly despised them extremely, but seeing his master remain calm and indifferent, he would have already stepped forward.

Shidada shouted harshly: "Where did this brat come from, with such a big mouth!"

With that angry shout, the Song Shan disciples could no longer restrain themselves; instantly four sword lights enveloped Feng Yi.

Feng Yi didn't even glance, simply waited until the sword lights came near; no one could see clearly what happened, but the left-side swords of the four actually stabbed the right-side persons in the chest, while the right-side swords sliced the left-side persons' throats; the four collapsed with a thud.

Yet Feng Yi wore a smile, his steps unhalted; although his bearing was carefree, this disregard for life and his godlike technique instantly made all the heroes present lose heart and courage—this was a "immortal" who had come from nowhere.

These people, since entering the jianghu, have never seen such a person.

Feng Yi laughed: "Liu Third Uncle, your golden basin hand-washing, with such a spectacle, it seems another reclusive master has appeared in the world—congratulations!"

Upon hearing Feng Yi's words, Liu Zhengfeng hastily bowed deeply, very respectfully: "Master Feng's divine might makes me prostrate five limbs to the ground; I am merely fond of ease, not seeking progress, and feel deeply ashamed."

But for the Left Chief to set up such a grand formation, he also regards Liu Zhengfeng too highly."

Although he had only met Feng Yi once, he greatly admired his martial ability and bearing; learning that his senior brother knew him, he felt an even greater sense of reverence.

At this moment, seeing Feng Yi appear suddenly and offer congratulations, it was clear he intended to help; having such a master step forward was equivalent to pulling his entire family back from the gates of death.

Feng Yi smiled faintly: "That's right, using your Southern Peak Balancing Mountain Sect's Liu San ye's whole family to sacrifice the flag, that's right, it truly fulfilled that saying: 'If I do it, who would dare not follow!'"

Shi Dengda was the most scheming among Zuo Lengchan's disciples; seeing that this person's martial arts were too high, making him hard to deal with, fearing that if Feng Yi were to speak out and openly assist Liu Zhengfeng, it would become uncontrollable, he hastily gave a dry laugh and said: "Your Excellency..."

Feng Yi raised his eyebrows, smiled and said: "What the hell are you?" His body flickered and he was already in front of Shi Dengda.

The Lofty Mountain Sect's disciples shouted in shock and anger, Feng Yi had already seized the Five Peaks Command Flag, with a knee strike he sent Shi Dengda flying. (End of chapter)
