Chapter 30: Ambush the Commander
“That Nie Huaishang, the one who set up the arrest of Black Cat—I’ve heard Old Gao mention you before.”
He Zhijun laughed heartily; he wasn’t just being polite—after returning to Langya Team, Old Doghead Gao had praised all four of them repeatedly.
Watching He Zhijun’s hearty laughter, Nie Huaishang felt awkward—he hadn’t expected that on their first meeting, he’d already eliminated him.
“Uh, Team Leader, I eliminated you—aren’t you angry?”
Nie Huaishang asked awkwardly; after all, he was about to join Langya Team, and before even arriving, he’d eliminated their top commander—he’d probably have a hard time ahead.
“Angry? Of course I’m angry—but when I think that next year you’ll be my soldier, and I’ll just win back what I lost this year, I’m actually happy.”
He Zhijun slapped Nie Huaishang’s shoulder and laughed heartily, his brow brimming with admiration.
At that moment, a familiar figure approached—it was Old Doghead Gao, who had been eliminated; he walked toward He Zhijun, filled with guilt.
His Lone Wolf A had been annihilated by Guo Jing and Zhang Chu’an—he had no excuse to offer. Just as he was about to take responsibility from He Zhijun, he spotted Nie Huaishang beside him.
“Long time no see, Uncle Gao.”
Old Doghead Gao looked at Nie Huaishang’s smiling face and thought, “This is bad,” then stared in disbelief at He Zhijun.
Seeing Old Doghead Gao’s expression, He Zhijun said directly:
“Don’t stare—I got eliminated by this kid too. Honestly, you, me, and Fan Tianlei all got eliminated.”
Here, He Zhijun couldn’t help but sigh: “This year, Langya Team has really lost face.”
“Don’t say that, Team Leader—if Fan Tianlei hadn’t been captured by us, we wouldn’t have slipped into the Blue Army HQ so easily.”
Nie Huaishang smiled calmly.
Hearing Nie Huaishang say that, He Zhijun gritted his teeth: “Don’t bring up that useless idiot—if it weren’t for him, we wouldn’t have been eliminated.”
“He even wanted to propose forming a Red Cell unit for information warfare. With how this exercise turned out, he’s dreaming.”
As He Zhijun vented about Fan Tianlei, both nodded in agreement.
Suddenly, Nie Huaishang curiously asked Old Doghead Gao: “Uncle Gao, I think you’re way more reliable than Fan Tianlei—who eliminated you?”
Hearing Nie Huaishang bring up the wrong topic, Old Doghead Gao snorted: “Who else? It’s those two brats—Guo Jing and Zhang Chu’an.”
“By the way, if Guo Jing and Zhang Chu’an are together, where’s Zhang Xiaofan? He should be with you in the Sharpshooter Fourth Company.”
“That’s right—Zhang Xiaofan is with me. The four who infiltrated the camp were him, plus the two best soldiers from Sharpshooter Fourth Company: He Chenguang and Wang Yanbing.”
Nie Huaishang shrugged, feigning nonchalance.
“You’re just going to tell us such important intel so casually?”
Old Doghead Gao and He Zhijun asked in confusion.
“It doesn’t matter—this exercise is almost over. Telling you won’t change anything.”
Nie Huaishang said with indifference.
“What do you mean, the exercise is almost over?”
Old Doghead Gao and He Zhijun asked urgently.
“Guess.”
Nie Huaishang taunted.
Outside, people who heard Nie Huaishang’s words rushed over to check on the First Commander’s condition. Seeing them eavesdrop, Nie Huaishang sighed helplessly to He Zhijun:
“Team Leader, isn’t it against the rules for them to eavesdrop on a dead man’s words?”
“And what about you, little trickster? Aren’t you deliberately luring them to the First Commander just to make them expose his position?”
He Zhijun and Old Doghead Gao grinned at Nie Huaishang.
“They wouldn’t have been tricked if they hadn’t been eavesdropping.”
After speaking, Nie Huaisang lazily lay down on the bed and immediately logged into the chat group.
Nie Huaisang: "Zhang Xiaofan, get ready quickly—they're moving the First Leader; prepare for the sniper shot."
Zhang Xiaofan: "Received."
When the soldiers rushed into the First Commander’s tent and found him unharmed, the Commander asked the panting soldier: “What’s the rush? Why so reckless?”
“Sir, you’re safe—that’s great! We thought you’d been sniped.”
The soldier panted out his story of eavesdropping outside. The Commander, an old fox, understood at once.
He glared at the soldier: “You idiot, you’ve just exposed my position with your cleverness.”
In this situation, staying in this tent was no different from waiting to die—he had to move immediately. After changing into a regular soldier’s uniform, he ordered everyone inside to exit one by one. After the third person stepped out,
Seeing no anomalies, the Commander himself walked out.
Why weren’t there bodyguards surrounding him? Close-range protection works, but at long range, no matter how fast a man is, he can’t outrun a bullet.
Surrounding him with guards only tells the sniper exactly who the important target is.
As soon as the Blue Army Commander stepped out, smoke erupted from his body. Watching the eliminated Blue Army Commander from afar, Zhang Xiaofan, He Chenguang, and Wang Yanbing fired simultaneously, using terrain advantage to snipe at the Blue Army’s senior officers.
Soon after, Blue Army troops surrounded them. Zhang Xiaofan’s group offered no resistance and surrendered immediately—they’d already decapitated the Blue Army Commander.
At that moment, on the chat group:
Zhang Xiaofan: "Guys, I successfully sniped the Blue Force commander."
Guo Jing: "Well done! All Gao Shu and his Langya Detachment could manage was wiping out Gao Shu’s Lone Wolf A and his unit—nothing compares to your decapitation strike on the Blue Force commander and the Langya commander."
Nie Huaisang: "I think our massive success is thanks to Fan Tianlei—if we’d faced High School Captain instead, we wouldn’t have even managed to capture him alive."
At that moment, Nie Huaishang couldn’t help but feel sorry for Guo Jing and Zhang Chu’an. Seeing Nie Huaishang sigh, He Zhijun snorted:
“What are you sighing about? You four soldiers eliminated my Chief of Staff, my Team Leader, and our Blue Army Commander—what more do you want?”
“Team Leader, I’m sorry for Guo Jing and Zhang Chu’an.”
Nie Huaishang quickly explained to He Zhijun.
“Why feel sorry for them? They wiped out my Langya Team with a few months’ worth of new recruits. Sure, their achievement doesn’t compare to yours—but still.”
Old Gao:
One sentence stabbed him twice—once for his strength, once for his status—and he had no rebuttal.
Hearing He Zhijun’s words, Nie Huaishang shook his head: “Guo Jing and Zhang Chu’an aren’t any weaker than me and Zhang Xiaofan. I wonder—if they’d faced Fan Tianlei instead of Senior Gao, their results wouldn’t be much worse than ours.”
This statement ignited He Zhijun’s temper—he immediately stood up and roared: “Wait—I’m going with you to find Fan Tianlei at Iron Fist Regiment.”
“Not just you—I’m coming too.”
Seeing the newcomer, He Zhijun and Old Doghead Gao immediately stood and saluted:
“Langya Special Forces Team Leader He Zhijun reporting.”
“Langya Special Forces Lone Wolf A Team Leader Gao Dazhuang reporting.”
