Chapter 50: Eradication

~6 min read 1,089 words

Ma Shichang paced back and forth in his office, calling his informants and contacts every day for the past several days without fail.

Today was no different; Ma Shichang picked up the phone again and dialed his informant.

After finishing all the calls, Ma Shichang finally sat down in his chair, relieved—there had been a heavy sense of crisis pressing on his heart these past days.

He had felt this kind of crisis only once before, during a life-or-death ordeal, and this time it was stronger than ever.

But from the recent calls, Ma Shichang learned that his informants and network had not been exposed.

What Ma Shichang didn’t know was that on the other end of the line, his informant had already been handcuffed by police and was awaiting trial.

On the other side, Ma Yunfei was preparing to take Nie Huaishang and others out for a patrol; seeing this, Nie Huaishang immediately logged into the chat group to contact Guo Jing and the others.

Nie Huaishang: “Guo Jing, where are you now?”

Guo Jing: “Our three special forces units have arrived at Yuanshan Town and are ready to attack at any moment. How’s your side? Any anomalies?”

Nie Huaishang: “Nothing unusual here, but I’m going out on patrol with Ma Yunfei. I’ll send you our route—set up ambushes and don’t let them slip away.”

Guo Jing: “Don’t worry, we’re on it.”

Zhang Chu’an: “Me too.”

Zhang Xiaofan: “Me too.”

Seeing their replies, Nie Huaishang relaxed, driving while chatting idly with Ma Qitong.

After a while, Nie Huaishang suddenly asked Ma Qitong: “Did you bring a gun?”

“Yes.”

Ma Qitong pulled out her waist pistol to show him, but Nie Huaishang, still driving, snatched it away and tossed it out the window.

Then Nie Huaishang swerved the car across the road, blocking Ma Yunfei and the others’ path.

Seeing this, Ma Yunfei and his men moved to get out and confront Nie Huaishang—but as soon as they stepped out, most were shot dead.

Only two or three of Ma Yunfei’s men remained, using their cars as cover to hold off against Guo Jing’s team—but the standoff lasted less than two minutes.

The only one among them with special forces training was Ma Yunfei, but he couldn’t possibly match real special forces.

Especially since they were facing three special forces units: Lone Wolf A, Lone Wolf B, and the Red Cell Team.

Within one or two minutes, all minor players were shot on the spot—except Ma Yunfei, a high-value target to be taken alive for public execution.

Ma Qitong stared at the sudden turn of events, at Nie Huaishang standing beside the jungle-trained special forces, and at Ma Yunfei subdued by them.

Even if she were the most love-struck girl, she understood what had happened.

As for Ma Yunfei, now subdued by the special forces, he glared at Nie Huaishang and spat: “I should’ve known you were an undercover.”

Seeing Ma Yunfei arrested, Ma Qitong cried out to him in anguish: “Third brother, I’m sorry!”

If she hadn’t brought Nie Huaishang home, he wouldn’t be captured now.

Ma Yunfei looked at his sister weeping uncontrollably; all his words dissolved into a long sigh—he simply couldn’t bring himself to scold the sister he’d cherished since childhood.

Watching Ma Yunfei so broken, Ma Qitong turned back, eyes filled with tears, and demanded of Nie Huaishang: “Huaishang, all this time you’ve been close to me, saying you loved me—was it all just to use me?”

“Yes.”

“I hate you.”

Ma Qitong screamed in grief and fury.

“Then hate me.”

Nie Huaishang lowered his head, unable to meet her gaze—he truly had wronged this girl.

At that moment, Ma Yunfei was dragged over; his hands were injured, so no handcuffs were on him. Suddenly, his left hand flicked—and a miniature pistol slid from his sleeve into his palm. But someone moved faster.

Before he could raise the gun, the man fired four shots—one each into Ma Yunfei’s two elbows and two kneecaps—knocking him unconscious instantly.

Zhang Xiaofan had long wanted to cripple Ma Yunfei’s limbs, but Gou Tou Lao Gao had seized Ma Yunfei first, so he couldn’t act.

Still, he kept his eyes locked on Ma Yunfei—anytime that miniature pistol appeared in his hand, he’d cripple him.

“Third brother.”

Seeing Ma Yunfei’s state, Ma Qitong lunged forward, but Nie Huaishang yanked her back.

Ma Yunfei was carried away by personnel from behind.

Gou Tou Lao Gao walked up to Zhang Xiaofan, expressionless: “Why do you always go this hard? This is the second time, isn’t it?”

Zhang Xiaofan, innocent, replied: “Come on, Ma Yunfei was about to shoot Huaishang—I was protecting my comrade.”

Gou Tou Lao Gao didn’t believe him, but said nothing—after all, in his view, no method was too harsh for a monster like Ma Yunfei.

Gou Tou Lao Gao’s face turned serious as he addressed the group:

“Enough. Next, we storm Yuanshan Town and eradicate this poison once and for all. It’s going to be a hard fight—prepare yourselves.”

Everyone nodded solemnly and immediately shifted into combat mode, preparing to storm Yuanshan Town.

During their time approaching Yuanshan Town, Nie Huaishang had mapped the terrain thoroughly—he quickly led the special forces to surround Ma Shichang on his balcony.

“Raise your hands!”

He Chenguang roared at Ma Shichang—this major drug lord’s distribution network had ruined countless lives.

Facing the guns of He Chenguang and his team, Ma Shichang, ever the pragmatist, raised his hands without hesitation—and after raising them, he added with a condescending tone:

“Young man, even if I’m not number two on the Interpol Red Notice list, I’m certainly in the top three. You’d better speak to me with some respect.”

“I told you to raise your hands—why so much talk?”

He Chenguang cut him off without an ounce of courtesy.

Ma Shichang wasn’t angered by the rebuke; instead, he appealed with a seductive tone:

“You special forces soldiers don’t make much money, do you?”

“Old bastard, who wants your stinking money?”

Before Ma Shichang could even finish his bribe, Guo Jing snapped back, furious.

Seeing bribery failed, Ma Shichang gave up—but when he spotted Nie Huaishang in the crowd, he sneered:

“Nie Huaishang, I treated you well—I gave you my daughter, gave you love. Is this how you repay me?”

“I was wrong to use your daughter.”

Nie Huaishang lowered his head.

“But even if I had to do it again, I wouldn’t regret it.”

Nie Huaishang lifted his gaze and stared straight into Ma Shichang’s eyes.
