Chapter 6

Upon learning that Guo Jing had arrested two assassins, Doghead Gao immediately contacted Tai’an police to detain them, then rushed to Tai’an himself.

Seeing Guo Jing unharmed, Doghead Gao sighed in relief—this kid was safe, that was all that mattered.

When Guo Jing saw Doghead Gao arrive, he happily introduced the three to him:

“Uncle Gao, this is Nie Huaishang, this is Zhang Xiaofan, and this is Zhang Chu’an—they’re all my close buddies, and we’re all applying to the National University of Defense Technology.”

Doghead Gao immediately shook hands with each of them and said politely, “Hello, the People’s Liberation Army welcomes your enrollment.”

Capturing two professional assassins alone earned Zhang Chu’an Doghead Gao’s high regard—such courage was rare.

“Senior Gao, I’ve always been a coward since childhood—I never fought back or started conflicts with anyone. Why would assassins target me?”

Zhang Chu’an complained helplessly to Doghead Gao.

“I really had no conflicts at all.”

Doghead Gao refused to let any lead slip away—there had to be a motive.

Zhang Chu’an feigned thoughtfulness and said, “I remember a girl named Ye Cunxin beat me up, and I immediately reported it to the police. Her mother, wanting to avoid scandal and protect her daughter’s future, settled privately and paid me some compensation.”

Doghead Gao nodded and said, “I understand.”

Then he went to interrogate the two assassins.

Zhang Chu’an: “Phew, Senior Gao is so intimidating.”

Nie Huaishang: “Don’t worry, it’s worth it—we can steer Senior Gao to investigate Zhang Haiyan, then leak her secret identity as a secretary to him. That’ll give Black Cat a real headache.”

“And now, Senior Gao is the one who’ll be going head-to-head with Black Cat—Black Cat won’t have the energy to target your family anymore.”

Zhang Chu’an: “So I’ve slipped out of Black Cat’s sight?”

Nie Huaishang: “With Black Cat’s vengeful nature, the moment he gets a chance, it’ll be a disaster for your family.”

Zhang Chu’an: “True, but Black Cat’s still overseas—how do we deal with him?”

Nie Huaishang: “Don’t forget, Zhang Haiyan knows too many of Black Cat’s secrets. He’s so uneasy he even placed a spy beside her. If that spy gets captured by the military, don’t you think Black Cat will come himself to eliminate Zhang Haiyan?”

Zhang Xiaofan: “Once Black Cat comes for Zhang Haiyan, the four of us will make sure he never leaves alive.”

Zhang Chu’an: “Without Black Cat as K2’s leader, the organization will immediately descend into infighting and be wiped out by local armed groups or other factions soon after.”

Nie Huaishang: “Of course, the main work here falls to Senior Gao—we’re just lending a small hand.”

Soon after, Doghead Gao emerged from the interrogation room after questioning the two assassins. The assassins were stubborn—he hadn’t gotten answers yet. But when he mentioned Zhang Haiyan as their contact, a flicker of shock passed through their eyes, gone in an instant.

After all, Zhang Haiyan was their boss’s woman—and one of the very few in K2 who could retire cleanly. If the police discovered her, K2 could be wiped out entirely.

Though they controlled their facial expressions, their terrified glances betrayed them—Doghead Gao was certain these assassins were connected to Zhang Haiyan.

After leaving the interrogation room, Doghead Gao warned the four: “Be careful in the coming days—watch out for terrorist retaliation.”

“Understood, Uncle Gao. We’ll stay alert.”

Guo Jing readily agreed.

After warning them, Doghead Gao began investigating Zhang Haiyan. The two assassins had exceptional psychological resilience—they’d clearly undergone systematic training. Zhang Haiyan was no ordinary woman.

At this moment on Mount Taishan, the four sat in quiet meditation. Soon, they slowly opened their eyes. Nie Huaishang sighed regretfully: “Still no perception of Qi. It seems we can only use Qi-refining methods in this world.”

Guo Jing smiled easily: “It doesn’t matter. Even with just Qi-refining, the four of us far surpass ordinary people.”

During his sparring match with Doghead Gao, he never used Qi—if he had, Doghead Gao would’ve lost within two moves.

How many people in this world could defeat Doghead Gao? Of course, his real strength lies in his combat experience and military discipline.

“Let’s discuss our next plan. First, we must prioritize eliminating Black Cat. We also need to resolve lingering regrets here—let’s list our enemies.”

Nie Huaishang spoke seriously; the other three listened intently.

“Major drug lord Ma Yunfei—a true outlaw who’s constantly on the run, has clashed repeatedly with police, and is the most likely successor to Ma Kuirong’s drug empire. He once self-funded training from foreign retired special forces.”

“Mercenary Ruan Wenxiong—an elite soldier from Vietnam, trained in Soviet special forces, specialized in sniping, interned on the Afghan battlefield as a top trainee, and now likely serves in the French Foreign Legion’s 2nd Parachute Regiment.”

“Third is Black Cat, leader of the international terrorist group K2—he’s even more unhinged than the other two, aiming to assassinate world leaders and deliberately spark World War III.”

After listing the villains, their expressions grew grim—these were genuine death-seekers. If they couldn’t eliminate them cleanly, they’d be locked in a fight to the death.

Guo Jing said without fear: “Drug lord, mercenary, terrorist—all are irredeemably evil. Behind their wealth and luxury lie countless shattered families. They must be brought to justice—no mercy needed.”

Zhang Xiaofan: “We already have a preliminary plan for Black Cat. Do you have plans for Ma Yunfei and Scorpion Ruan Wenxiong?”

All three turned to Nie Huaishang. He cleared his throat and pondered: “Their biggest weakness is their identities—a drug lord, a mercenary, a terrorist. In China, once their identities are exposed, they’ll face overwhelming military crackdowns. Then, as lone fugitives, we’ll easily finish them off.”

“So the best time to kill them is while they’re still in China. Once they escape overseas—with weapons and men—they’ll be far too dangerous. Opportunities like this are rare.”

The other three nodded in agreement. The four continued discussing tactics on Mount Taishan, while on the other side, Black Cat, upon learning the assassins had been arrested and taken to police headquarters, flew into a rage:

“Two useless idiots—trained for over a decade and still can’t handle a high school graduate, now caught by the police.”
