Chapter 222: Transaction Completed
【System notification: Lin Hao has been escorted to the headquarters confinement room, guard configuration completed, no risk of escape.】
A notification sound came from Lin Chen's communicator; he was sitting in the passenger seat of the off-road vehicle,
his fingertips tapping the car window lightly. The wind and snow outside were still raging,
the low temperature of minus 502 degrees causing a layer of thick ice flowers to form on the car window,
vaguely able to see the vast white expanse outside. Lin Guodong sat in the back seat, lowering his head, his hands clutching the agreement tightly, not saying a word.
Li Wei held the steering wheel, glanced at Lin Guodong in the rearview mirror, and said in a low voice to Lin Chen: "Team Leader Lin, Zhao Hu's convoy has already gone far; should we send people to watch them? To prevent them from reneging."
"No need." Lin Chen shook his head, his gaze falling outside the window, "They are currently unable to protect themselves;
Zhou Bao's matter isn't resolved, they wouldn't dare clash with us head-on. The grain gap is written off, they took advantage, they won't cause trouble again."
The off-road vehicle drove slowly back to the safe zone, the heavy alloy door slowly opening,
and a warm wind rushed toward them. The team members got off the vehicles one after another, returning to their respective teams; Lin Chen and Li Wei took Lin Guodong into the headquarters building. Just walking to the lobby,
the logistics team leader greeted them, holding a supply handover sheet: "Team Leader Lin, the first batch of grain is ready, a total of three hundred kilograms; according to your instructions, it's placed at the handover point on the west side of the safe zone."
Lin Chen took the handover sheet, scanned it quickly, and signed his name: "Notify the Iron Hand Group people to come and take it within an hour;
no more after the time limit. Also, have the guards watch the handover point, don't let people from other factions drill a hole."
"Understood." The logistics team leader nodded and turned to leave.
Lin Chen turned to look at Lin Guodong: "You go to the conference room first, watch your daughter, don't run around. Wait until we come back from the warehouse, then we'll arrange subsequent matters."
Lin Guodong nodded hurriedly, clutching the agreement and walking quickly toward the conference room. His footsteps were somewhat hurried, as if fearing that if he were a step late, Lin Chen would change his mind.
Li Wei looked at Lin Guodong's back, frowning: "Team Leader Lin, is this kid reliable? I always feel he still has ghosts in his heart."
"Whether he's reliable or not isn't up to him to decide." Lin Chen sneered,
"His weak point is in our hands; if he dares to play tricks, the opportunity to resurrect Lin Xiaoxiao and his wife will both be gone."
The two walked to the monitoring room of headquarters; the screen was currently displaying the scene at the handover point on the west side of the safe zone.
A dozen sacks were piled on the open ground, with two Starfire Group guards standing beside them,
holding machine guns in their hands, vigilantly scanning the surroundings. Not long after,
three off-road vehicles appeared in the picture; it was Zhao Hu's people. They stopped outside the handover point, not daring to approach rashly, and a team member got out of the car, waving at the guards.
The guards walked forward, checked the other party's identity, and after confirming it was correct,
said a few words to the intercom. Soon, the Iron Hand Group people started moving the grain;
they moved very quickly, and in less than ten minutes, they moved three hundred kilograms of grain onto the vehicles.
An Iron Hand Group minor leader walked to the guard, handed over a note, and the guard looked at it and nodded.
"What's written on the note?" Li Wei asked.
The operator in the monitoring room zoomed in on the picture; the handwriting on the note was clearly visible: Grain received, thanks for the Starfire Group's generosity, no disputes hereafter.
Lin Chen looked at the words on the screen, a mocking arc curling his lips: "Zhao Hu knows how to say pretty words."
【System notification: Iron Hand Group convoy has left the handover point, direction is their temporary stronghold, no abnormal movement.】
"Alright, transaction completed." Lin Chen stood up and patted Li Wei on the shoulder, "Notify the team members to gather at the entrance of the safe zone in twenty minutes; we're departing for the warehouse."
"No problem." Li Wei took out the communicator and started arranging the mission.
Lin Chen walked out of the monitoring room, didn't go directly to the entrance to gather, but walked toward the dormitory area.
His footsteps slowed down somewhat, no longer as hurried as before. The headquarters building was very quiet,
only the footsteps of team members walking around and the notification sounds of communicators. Ice flowers formed on the windows of the corridor, sunlight shining in through the ice flowers, casting mottled light and shadows on the ground.
Walking to the dormitory door, Lin Chen pushed it open, and a faint milky fragrance rushed toward him.
Xia Nuan was sitting on the sofa, holding Tuan Tuan in her hands, looking down at a tattered book.
Tuan Tuan was curled up in her arms, eyes closed, sleeping very soundly, its belly rising and falling together, like a small ball.
Hearing the sound of the door opening, Xia Nuan lifted her head, a smile appearing on her face: "You're back? Didn't you say you were going to the warehouse?"
Lin Chen walked over, sitting on the chair next to the sofa, his gaze falling on Tuan Tuan.
The little guy seemed to be woken up, moving its ears, opening its eyes, and seeing Lin Chen, immediately jumped down from Xia Nuan's arms, rubbing against his pant leg, emitting a light purring sound.
"Still twenty minutes until gathering, came over to see you two." Lin Chen bent down, picking up Tuan Tuan,
his fingertips touching its soft fur, the chill in his heart dissipating somewhat.
Xia Nuan put down the book, stood up, and walked to the kitchen: "I boiled milk, it's still hot. Drink some to warm your body. It's so cold outside, don't freeze."
Lin Chen held Tuan Tuan, looking at Xia Nuan's back, and nodded: "Fine."
Tuan Tuan rubbed against his chest, closed its eyes again, and seemed to have fallen asleep again.
Lin Chen looked down at the kitten in his arms, the lines of his mouth softening somewhat.
He knew that the next action wouldn't be easy; there must be an ambush in Zhou Bao's warehouse, but he had no way out. He had to capture Zhou Bao, not only for the Starfire Group but also for himself, for that bag of biscuits that was snatched away back then.
Xia Nuan walked over carrying a cup of hot milk, handing it to Lin Chen: "Be careful, it's hot."
Lin Chen took the milk, the temperature just right, the warm liquid flowing down his throat, dispelling the cold in his body. He looked at Xia Nuan and said softly: "Wait for me to come back."
Xia Nuan nodded, her eyes full of trust: "I'll wait for you."
