Chapter 1012: The Same Building, Different Scenes!
Before heading to the Dashade Sect, Ning Chen drove ahead to drop off Yang Mi at her company.
It wasn't that they didn't trust Yang Mi—just that this building wasn't an ordinary one; the fewer people drawn in, the better.
After dropping off Yang Mi, Ning Chen immediately headed for the Dashade Sect.
During the day, the Dashade Sect didn't look as sinister as at night, but it still exuded an eerie aura everywhere.
The area was desolate; as far as the eye could see, there was nothing but this solitary, towering building—no other structures, not even a single vehicle.
Ning Chen got out first, scanning the surroundings; the vast space held only his RV and the building before him.
The others followed him out of the RV; from inside, they hadn't noticed, but stepping out, they were startled by the desolation around them.
"Holy shit, there's nothing out here at all—this building just sprang up out of nowhere, it's terrifying."
Facing Huo Jinglin's exclamation voiced the thoughts of the other two present.
Ning Chen glanced at the three bewildered people and had no intention of taking them into the danger.
"You stay in the RV and wait—I'll go in alone."
Lin Yi, having entered once before, wouldn't let Ning Chen go in alone.
"No, we still know nothing about what's inside—you can't go in by yourself. I'm coming with you. Even if there are monsters, I can distract them for you."
Lin Yi clenched his fists, his stance firm, utterly unyielding.
This demeanor took Ning Chen by surprise—he'd assumed that after seeing the situation, Lin Yi would have stayed back.
The sight of someone trembling slightly with fear yet refusing to back down warmed Ning Chen's heart a little.
He and Lin Yi had been through a lot together; Lin Yi had always stood firmly by his side, thinking of him.
Ning Chen wasn't heartless, but his numbness toward the world and the affair with his girlfriend had nearly shut his heart away.
He said nothing, instead turning and walking toward the Dashade Sect.
Seeing Ning Chen's expression, Lin Yi knew he had agreed to let him come along, and hurried eagerly to his side.
Left behind, Facing Huo Jinglin and Gu Yanqi exchanged a glance, both seeing hesitation in each other's eyes.
"Should we just wait here?"
Facing Huo Jinglin wasn't unwilling to go in—he just had Gu Yanqi with him. Regardless of what Gu Yanqi's face meant to Ning Chen, he couldn't let a young girl risk her life.
Gu Yanqi had no objections; she glanced curiously at the building, and for some reason, she felt as if she'd been here before.
The building held a strange pull for her.
Ning Chen and Lin Yi reached the entrance; the building's frosted glass prevented any view inside.
Yet the glass was spotless, reflective as a mirror—someone must clean it regularly, meaning someone was inside.
The unknown was always the most terrifying; Lin Yi swallowed hard, staring at the glass.
"Ning Chen… should we go in?"
Ning Chen nodded. He heard the slight tremor in Lin Yi's voice, stepped forward, and placed himself in front of Lin Yi as they advanced—so if anything happened when the door opened, he could shield him.
Watching Ning Chen walk ahead in a protective stance, Lin Yi pressed a hand to his chest, relieved—he really was still an important companion.
The glass door was automatic; as soon as Lin Yi reached it, the door sensed him and slowly slid open.
Lin Yi peered out from behind, and the sight inside made his eyes widen.
There were no monsters here, nor was it ruined—it looked luxurious, even intensely high-tech.
The vast interior could be seen at a glance, and directly opposite the entrance stood a girl.
She smiled the most perfect smile at them, as if she'd been waiting a long time.
"Hello, gentlemen. I'm glad to see you."
Ning Chen said nothing, staring at her; Lin Yi, naturally the social one, stepped forward to speak.
"Oh, hi hi, miss—what is this place?"
The girl didn't react to Ning Chen's coldness; instead, she answered Lin Yi's question.
