Chapter 111

A phone call came in.

"Yansong, there's an unexpected situation—only you can take this one." On the other end of the line was a leader from above.

Bai Yansong pouted slightly. "What situation?"

"We need to change your work schedule for later," the voice on the line said. "I know this is yet another piece of content with no time to prepare in advance, but besides you, no one else can pull it off. However—I believe you'll be interested."

Bai Yansong sighed. "Send it over, then~"

Soon, several video clips were sent over.

The leader's call hadn't hung up; he kept talking. "This is astonishing, but it is indeed a fact—after all, several hundred people have witnessed these miracles with their own eyes."

"Several relevant departments, including some university institutions in Jingcheng and Modu, have recently launched research targeting this livestream room."

"If our Yang Shi doesn't report on it, that really wouldn't be acceptable."

Listening to the leader's rambling while watching the video clips that had been sent over.

Bai Yansong's eyes were also filled with disbelief.

"Alright, I'll take it. Let me prep and we'll get started." Bai Yansong hung up the phone.

This time, once again, it was a live, script-free broadcast.

He had been through this kind of thing too many times.

Even so, whenever some unexpected situation arose, it all came down to a host's composure.

Five minutes later.

Four in the afternoon.

CCTV's General Channel.

It was originally supposed to be a TV drama series.

But instead, the opening credits of "On the Quarter-Hour" appeared.

Yang Shi's famous host, Bai Yansong, appeared before the camera.

"Good afternoon, viewers."

"Welcome to 'On the Quarter-Hour.' First, an announcement: due to an unexpected situation, the TV drama 'Worldly Smoke and Fire' originally scheduled to air at four o'clock on our station will be pushed back fifteen to twenty minutes. What follows is 'On the Quarter-Hour' time."

Bai Yansong truly lived up to his reputation as a famous host.

Everything was handled naturally and just right.

Although it was a last-minute insertion, his effortless ease came through, and he began the broadcast in a calm, even tone.

"I myself only received a message from headquarters five minutes ago, asking me to come here specifically to deliver this news report."

"Next, let's first take a look at a few video clips."

As he finished speaking, the video appeared on the channel.

In the video was a stretch of wilderness, boundless grasslands stretching out on both the left and right.

In the center, a straight road.

An RV was parked there.

What was terrifying was that surrounding the RV was a massive pack of wolves!

On top of the RV, a young man wearing black gloves was cleaning the solar panels on the vehicle.

68. (6/7) On the Road to Tibet, Cycling Girl Seeks Help (10)

Bai Yansong's voice-over came in:

"What our viewers are now seeing is footage of a streamer named 'Brother Shiguang' on an internet platform. This time, he should be traveling into Tibet for tourism. The footage we're seeing now shows his RV parked along Route 109 in the Hoh Xil region. Anyone who has traveled this road should know that on either side of it lies the Hoh Xil no-man's-land."

"This livestream took place at noon today."

"An extremely astonishing scene appeared. As we can see, the area around this streamer's RV is filled with wolves."

"According to estimates, the wolf pack surrounding the RV at that time numbered over seven hundred!"

"What exactly happened to cause so many wolves to surround this RV?"

"As we can see, this streamer was simply cleaning the solar panels on top of his RV. Now, next, viewers, please open your eyes wide."

After Bai Yansong finished speaking, in the footage, the streamer named Brother Shiguang raised his hand and tossed his gloves down.

Immediately after, the wolves below.

Suddenly began to howl.

All the wolves began to howl.

One after another, all the wolves crouched down on the ground.

Heads raised, they kept howling toward the person on top of the RV.

"This scene is truly astonishing!" Bai Yansong said. "For this, we have specially connected with Professor He Jing of the School of Biology at Modu University. 'Hello, Professor He!'"

"Hello, host! Hello, viewers!"

On screen, the footage of the wolves howling continued.

A woman's voice came through.

"Professor He, could you explain to our viewers what we're seeing? What exactly has happened to these wolves?"

"Alright. Wolf howling can be divided into several types…"

On Yang Shi General Channel, Professor He Jing began her explanation.

Yang Shi General Channel was the largest channel in all of Dongguo.

It already had countless viewers watching it at all times.

And at this moment, with the appearance of this last-minute insertion—and with the famous host Bai Yansong at the helm—even more people were paying attention.

When the scene appeared on screen.

Viewers across the country were also completely dumbfounded.

What's wrong with this RV? What's wrong with this streamer? How did they attract so many wolves??

Professor He Jing began to explain.

She broke down the wolves' howling in detail, until finally, when she came to the part about the pack of wolves in the footage howling.

In fact, it was very likely a kind of submissive howling that only happens in the presence of a Wolf King.

The audience, too, went into an uproar.

"That's clearly a person!"

"So many wolves, directing submissive howls at a single person?"

"This really is stranger than fiction — there's nothing under heaven one won't find!"

"Real news or fake news? It can't be a photoshopped picture, can it?"

"This is a video, not a picture, all right? Besides, this is Yang Shi — how could it possibly be fake news?"

"I still don't think it's real — how could something like this happen?"

"I just searched this name, Shiguang, and found out he's a streamer on Shark Live! Everyone can go check it out!"

"So amazing! There's actually something this incredible in this world!"

On Yang Shi's general channel.

After Professor He Jing finished her explanation, the footage played for a while longer, then cut back to Bai Yansong's camera.

"It really is amazing. All we can say is that, in this world, there are indeed still many unknown things waiting for us to discover and explore. Also, originally, we had wanted to do a live link with this streamer."

"But the official platform where the streamer is based informed us that, at present, they still cannot get in touch with the streamer himself."

"So, regrettably—" The moment he said that, something suddenly flashed through Bai Yansong's mind.

He suddenly thought of something.

He drew in a sharp breath. "Hold on a moment — I just suddenly thought of something. Let me contact the director backstage right now. Director? Director?"

Bai Yansong called out twice directly on camera.

A response came through his earpiece.

"Here's the thing — I just suddenly remembered, not long ago, didn't our Yang Shi report on a volcanic eruption at Changbai Mountain? Nengbuneng Gang pull up the broadcast information from that time for me."

"Understood, Teacher Bai. One moment."

Shortly after, the director brought the materials over.

Bai Yansong picked them up and looked, and was also slightly taken aback.

"Dear viewers, I have now obtained the confirmed materials. Ten days ago, our Yang Shi reported on the volcanic eruption in the Changbai Mountain area — the audience surely haven't forgotten. The reason I suddenly thought of this just now is that, at the time, I was also involved in the reporting work."

"Now, the materials I have show…" As he spoke, Bai Yansong lowered his head and studied the materials carefully once more, and an expression of disbelief flashed in his eyes again.

"At the time, that volcanic eruption was also live-streamed on-site by a streamer."
